This project started with a simple idea -I needed something small to work on.
After a road trip with friends and a stop at a local hobby shop, I picked up a Pike Stuff kit that felt like a good fit for a spot on my layout. Over a couple of Sunday morning livestreams, I started working through the build, experimenting with colors and trying to move away from the stock look.
In this video, I bring it across the finish line... turning a common kit into a more unique, slightly abandoned structure.

I'm figuring a lot of this out along the way, so it's always nice to have you join me on the journey and offer support, but more importantly, feedback! https://www.youtube.com/@NScaleDystopia?sub_confirmation=1
Welcome back, we return to our host at the workbench.
Let's see what project we're working on today.
A small group of us from the southwestern Ontario area got to get together and hang out for a
weekend. We got to visit some layouts, we got to go to some hobby shops. So with that I was like
okay that's it, I need a project. I decided to get Pike Stuffs diamond tool and engineering kit.
The kit was reasonably priced and I have a little spot on the layout near my passenger platforms
that I thought this might be a nice little kit to add there. And so I'm going to work through
trying to repaint it with you. And again not trying to follow a prototype, I just don't want
a white and light blue building. Really quickly last night I took the kit which comes in this
sort of soft blue color and I either gave it a shot of just regular standard gray primer
and on the roof, which had been white, I gave it a really quick shot of black and then this is sort
of an aluminum colored paint. And so this is the starting point for the corrugated steel and I put
that color onto all of sort of soffits, ridge vents, a few other little bits and everything
else got the tan color. So I'm really happy with how this is looking. I did a bit of weathering
with some acrylic paint. I've added my India ink wash and this has got really the ideal color and
look to it that I really want. I wish I had remembered to do things like add a sign or other
bits before I did that. I'm going to try to just craft a sign out of styrene and maybe put one over
the double doors and one on the face of it just to give it a little more visual interest. And then I
think I can mount it to the base and finish it up.
good evening and good luck.
