In November of 2018, I revisited the country of India, one of my favorite travel destinations ever. After I went there and fell in love with the people, culture, and food in January of that year, I knew I had to come back, so I planned an epic, seven-city trip through the country with my travel buddy, Sam from Sam & Audrey!
During our time in our third city, Amritsar, Sam and I stayed at a beautiful, upscale Airbnb in Diamond Avenue. This three-story modern townhouse in the suburbs of Amritsar. After spending forty-eight hours exploring the city, I decided to give you guys a quick tour of our digs. Come with me and let’s check them out!
One thing I really like about this place is that it’s secure. We definitely felt safe inside the locked gates. Up the marble staircase is the second floor, which is where Sam and I stayed. Our awesome caretaker stays on the third floor.
Inside our unit, is a lot of modern décor, including a nice dining table that seats six, a comfy couch, a glass coffee table, a brand-new TV and even a bar that had whisky and glasses behind it!
While the Airbnb is very modern, there were also some things I was disappointed with. It didn’t have a full kitchen, just a sink with a countertop, and no refrigerator. We were also promised WiFi, but it was broken while we were there. The hot water heater in the bathrooms didn’t work either, so Sam and I had to take cold showers.
There were also some really good things about the townhouse. The bedrooms were very nice. The beds were comfortable and we slept well there. India is notoriously noisy, even at night, but there was no street noise at all even though we were there during Diwali. We had small closets and standard Indian bathrooms.
One thing I really loved was going up to the rooftop every morning and watching the sun rise over Diamond Avenue. The sun is bright orange and red here in India and made for some stunning sunrises. The rooftop is where we wrap up our Airbnb tour and give a quick recap of our incredible 48 hours in the beautiful city of Amritsar and reveal our next destination: Bangalore!
One quick note: if you choose to stay in Diamond Avenue, I recommend you hire taxis to take you there and into the city, because as of November of 2018, there is no Uber in Amritsar.
I hope you enjoyed this apartment tour of our Airbnb in Amritsar! If you did, please give the video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. And please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

Hi everyone, this is David Hoffman from David's Been Here in beautiful Amritsar, Punjab, India.
I've been exploring this incredible city for the past 48 hours, but right now what I'm
going to do is I'm going to show you my Airbnb, which is right here.
It's a townhouse, there's one, two, three levels.
The third level is a rooftop where the caretaker stays.
We stayed in the second floor and then there's another floor where you can also book, right?
When you travel through India, Airbnb is the best way to travel.
Personally, I love it more just because you get to really experience the people.
You're like staying in a real suburb right here where everybody's living, local neighborhoods,
and yeah, right now I'm going to be really honest about this place.
I'll tell you, when I looked up Airbnbs in Amritsar, there was very limited options for
what I was looking for.
I always look for like nice places, two bedrooms, especially because I'm traveling with Sam.
And now I'm going to show you our Airbnb.
Let's go.
Let's do it.
So here we go.
We have a little entryway.
We have a gate.
They lock it every time somebody comes, they lock it, they lock it here, and then the guy
locks it again.
Yeah, security was good at this place.
Super secure, right?
Yeah.
You walk through.
You can book this one as well.
I'm sure it's there on Airbnb.
Yeah.
In the same address.
But I got the second floor.
Let's go upstairs.
I love this marble.
Yeah.
Very nice staircase.
The stairs were nice.
What's up, my friend?
Hey.
You good?
The caretaker.
Yeah.
He's been taking care of us.
Good guy.
Every time we get here, we ring.
He opens the door for us.
He gives us water.
Gives us water every time.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
Now let's go inside our Airbnb.
So we get this key.
Don't lose the key.
Number one tip.
As you can see, this place is a little more modern.
For India, it's definitely modern, right?
Right here, we have the dining table.
Very nice.
Fits six people.
Obviously, you can expand it and add some more chairs if there's more people.
And then over here, this is very interesting, guys.
So this is a living room, right?
Yeah.
Super comfy couch.
I haven't sat on it yet.
We haven't had time.
Yeah.
I'm going to pass out right now.
Yeah.
We'll be at the airport soon, so we can't do that.
And as you can see, nice glass table.
Some like I don't know some flowers here.
Very cool.
The napkins.
Yep.
Napkin holder.
I grabbed all of the napkins.
And then here look at this.
It is like a little bar.
And they actually have alcohol.
Yeah.
So if you're looking to drink some I think that is whiskey.
I know.
Check this out.
Right.
Here are the bottles up there.
They have a big TV which we didn't have time to use.
And they have it.
Have they not taken off the wrapper?
Wow.
This is brand new TV.
Wow.
Brand new.
And yeah cable.
Got some cups.
Got stereo.
And then over here.
This is actually very strange that I didn't understand about this place.
There is not really a kitchen.
There is no fridge.
No.
Right.
This is like locked.
No.
This is like I don't know.
This is something.
The secret.
This is some kind of a shrine or something.
I don't know.
Here you can wash your hands.
Wash your hands.
Right.
Yeah.
There is a sink but no fridge.
No fridge.
There is an enormous bar and no fridge.
And no fridge.
One thing that I'm really disappointed with this place is that it said Wi-Fi.
Yeah.
And since we've been here the Wi-Fi has been broken.
They told us they were going to get it up today and they didn't.
The whole stay they had.
The whole stay.
I mean it is fine because we've been here 48 hours but it sort of sucks that we're incommunicado
with everybody.
Yeah.
If that is not correct.
Yeah.
Hahaha.
You know we can't talk to anybody.
Can't talk to nobody.
And then as we get into here we have the bathroom.
Right.
This is the guest bathroom or the second bathroom.
Dude.
Dude this is another thing that sucked.
We had cold showers.
Yeah.
So let me tell you.
Haha.
The heater.
You turn it on.
Which should be up there.
Yeah.
It should work.
Should.
But it didn't work.
Yeah.
Both times it took showers.
It took showers.
And you know I know it didn't work because we were fooling around with it.
Like all the things.
Like there has got to be hot water somehow or like.
Yeah.
None.
Haha.
Basic bathroom in India.
Toilet.
You know.
Faucet.
And then the shower.
It is always like this in India.
Don't expect too many places to have it like completely separate.
I mean this is how it is.
Yeah.
It is going to be soaked.
So try to keep all your water over here.
So if you want to use the bathroom you get two you know soaks.
Yeah.
It is definitely a wet shower.
And then over here.
Yeah.
We have the second bedroom.
Yeah.
And very nice.
I got to tell you guys.
We slept really well here.
We did.
That is a good thing.
Not noisy at all.
We are actually here during Diwali and it hasn't been noisy.
So that is great.
Love the bed.
Very comfortable.
Has a small closet.
No other closet.
Has a little.
Yeah.
I guess this is a little like I don't know mini bar table.
Yeah.
Uh.
It is not really a desk.
Not really a desk.
There is no chair.
I don't know.
Because there is no chair.
And there is supposed to be a fridge in here but there is no fridge.
And there is no fridge.
No.
But we did have another TV.
Another TV.
There was three of them right?
The stereo.
That is funny.
I think for me my favorite part of this place was the bed.
Like there is.
The beds were comfy man.
Yeah.
I mean the beds.
The beds are super comfortable.
This is my room.
As you can see it feels very like nice.
A little more modern.
Very basic.
You know.
Yeah.
Right here.
Dude.
In my opinion the rooms reminded me a bit more of hotel rooms than like typical Airbnb rooms.
Here we have it.
The master bathroom.
You know.
Pretty nice.
Actually a little bigger than the guest bathroom and yeah again cold shower so I hated that.
And this is always you know standard in India you fill it up and you can bathe yourself
which I like that actually because at the end I just want to clean off the rest of the
you know soap and stuff.
I just you know rinse myself.
So as you can see standard toilet, faucet and over here look at this like flowers and
stuff.
I mean it is decent.
It is not bad.
Yeah.
It is definitely a decent bathroom.
The last thing I am going to show you is the rooftop.
Every morning we woke up really early so I came up here and I witnessed that fire sun.
I mean like it is literally blazing burning in India.
It is like super orange and red and here we are.
Rooftop.
Actually.
Look at this.
Firework from Diwali.
It landed here.
Oh my God.
Should have hit somebody.
But yeah.
Here we have it.
Beautiful rooftop.
Just going to go over all of this suburb and this is called Diamond Avenue.
That is where we are staying.
It is a little complex to get here.
Definitely suggest you hire a taxi and you know give them the address and they will find
And there is no Uber right now in Amritsar.
So you definitely have to remember that.
And then from here there is so many things you can do right.
So you got the Golden Temple.
Spend half day there I suggest.
Go eat there and see the Golden Temple.
You can go see another Hindu temple which is almost the same as the Golden Temple.
Eat some Amritsar Kulcha.
Eat some.
What else did we eat?
We ate so many things.
Paneer.
Paneer Bhurji.
We had a thali.
We had amazing thali today.
We went to two 100 year old restaurants.
The other one we had just some delicious parathas.
There is two places that do great lassi's as well.
Yeah.
Remember that?
Yeah.
I remember that.
Yeah.
And then how about the border?
The border was incredible.
But you've got to go really early for that.
Yeah.
Like we went too late.
Go there at like 2 pm.
Something.
2.30 at the latest.
We left shortly after 3 and the crowds were insane at that point.
Too much.
And then on the border we also ate at a Pakistani restaurant called the Border but I forgot
the name exactly but it is right here.
And yeah I mean amazing stay in Amritsar.
When you come to Amritsar stay for 48 hours.
That's exactly the time you need to see everything.
You can kill it in 48 hours.
This is the holy city for the Sikh people.
Gotta visit the Golden Temple.
