Welcome to my channel everyone. I'm Groovy and I'm about to give you a van tour. I have a 1989
Chevy G20 van and I self-converted it. Before, whenever I bought the van, there was no extended
roof so the ceiling actually stopped right here so could not stand up in it. I had a welder
extend the metal on the van. He added sheet metal and a frame about a foot high and then I added a
topper from a pre-existing camper van that was about to get sold for parts and then crushed.
So that's where the roof is from and these angled bits here. I picked out all the colors and I did
a lot of the woodwork, put in the cabinets, and really I did most of the stuff myself. I did the
electrical, the solar, the plumbing. I painted the van. I did a lot of this myself and if you don't
believe me, I do have photos for proof for all those people who are like, a woman can't do it,
a man did it. Which I will say, my granddad taught me a lot and he helped me but I was the one who
put in the most work and I mainly came for him for like questions about how to use tools and I
could 100% do this van like by myself. I wouldn't even need him at this point. Now with that
disclaimer out of the way, let's get into the tour. Welcome to the outside of my van everyone.
There is a lot of noise happening over there. I don't know what it is. Sounds like they're
cutting down like a million trees but oh my gosh it's cold. Let's get on with the outside
tour because I am freaking freezing. This is my van. I painted it myself. I picked out all the
colors, went and got the auto paint, and when I picked out the paint the workers were like,
what are you doing? Like what are you painting? Because you know most people get boring car
colors and I ordered like four different colors. This is the front of my van and her name is right
here. Her name is Rocky and it's a Hindi word for like female uh like a friendship bracelet between
two female friends. She's my best friend even though she hates me and uh yeah I think that's
enough for the outside because quite frankly it's just it's a big green van. Let's go. It's so cold.
So you come in and you'll be greeted by my giant stack of coats. Right now it looks,
I mean it's always bad but it looks worse because I have my selk bag. This is my sleeping bag outfit
and if you watch my videos from last year you will see that I wear this all the time. I can't
handle winter without it and I do not like cold weather so yeah part of the reason why I have my
van so I can just move to a warm place because I can't stand this. Yes so there's a ton of jackets
and somebody was like put your purse away someone's gonna steal it. They're all empty like
no matter what I'm broke regardless but um even if someone broke in I would be more sad just about
my vintage purses because they're not expensive or nice but they're hard to find so I love them.
They're sentimental. If we move this stuff you can literally hardly this is how much junk I own
um you can hardly see but if you open this up there's shoes in there it's just sandals nothing
crazy don't look at it I'm embarrassed. If you wanted a really realistic look at van life this
is it. I have this chair that I can't fit anywhere so it sits right here for now and mind you I am
currently like not on the road my van is broken down again so yeah there's stuff everywhere.
Normally if I'm actually like having to drive a lot I will have things sorted much better but
I'm working on some projects and there will be more storage in this van I promise just give me
some time to build it. Moving my camp chair out of the way and my box of Zevia's by the way best
Zevia flavor IMO cherry cola so good like that with a piece of like salted dark chocolate like
that Theo dark chocolate perfect night. All right now we've got that out of the way this is my door
and it has a authentic Victorian doorknob and key plate and I installed this myself I think
there's actually a video I'm not linking it sorry guys but yes I did paint this build it
everything there's probably a video somewhere. I got my beautiful trim so my goal with this van
was to make it as home-like as possible like I wanted to sit here and be like
hmm is this a van well obviously I mean it's got curved walls and it looks crazy but
I just wanted it to feel homey and not like a white box so yeah this has East Lake
Victorian hinges actually the bottom one is not East Lake but we don't talk about it but
the doorknob and the hinge is East Lake so if you open this door and it does lock by the way
it will take you to my cab which is so full of stuff I don't I genuinely don't think I could
show you like the clothes up here I have no room for my clothes so they're all up here and I have
to switch them when I drive and when I park so I have jackets and more bags hanging under here I
swear I don't own like a crazy amount of stuff it's just a small space up here you can't even
really see but there's storage it goes all the way back I keep my art supplies up there
and my trash can is up here by the way it's just under a pile of junk
moving on to this side of the van I have my 1970s I believe this is a 71 or 72
rotary phone no it doesn't work obviously but it's just the vibe guys like sometimes
I just sit here and talk to myself because I'm crazy
I love this phone I actually used it for my movie which is coming out soon hopefully I'll
post a trailer on here like mid-December but yeah it's beautimous and it matches my van
perfectly I even made my own little peace sign for the center photo I know what you all are saying
but Groovy your phone is here how can you open this cabinet and to which I say
I open it like this it doesn't open all the way but this is my snack cabinet and I don't
eat a lot of snacks so this stuff I mean I can like get in here just fine but yeah this is just
a wreck and there's nothing I can really do about that it's just permanently going to look like this
that's okay this is the one cabinet that I'm okay with it being a wreck
moving on to this side of my kitchen here I have my olive oil my pepper my honey
I think there's like corn kernels for popcorn garlic cooking stuff that I use frequently
this is my cups cabinet and I'm still working on this because I want a shelf in there and I also
want to create like a little guard so that they don't fall out and probably some foam
padding because these are actually glass and ceramic but yeah I just keep my cups up here
and my ice trays slide on over to this upper cabinet this is my toiletries cabinet
so pop it open and I've got makeup and face wash oh yeah and if you guys are wondering how do you
open this cabinet and there's a candelabra or a candle sconce right here it opens good enough for
me to get in there I mean I'm used to it and it doesn't create an issue I've got plenty of room
but yeah toothbrush toothpaste this thing is so full of products one time I took them all out to
reorganize it put on my couch and I was like whoa how does this fit in here but I know where
everything is I can just reach back there I know exactly what order it is because I put my most
used items up front and my least used items in the back
hi okay so I have currently my cat food and cat water right here because I'm trying to get my cat
used to being in the van we'll start at the bottom of my cabinets so this here is my fridge and it
has a bunch of magnets and in its way is a space heater because my batteries are really low right
now because it's like cloudy out and I spent the past like month in the shade so my batteries are
super low and I'm having to run off of power from the house that I'm at right now so you open this
up and I've got almond milk and ketchup maple syrup sauces a lot of zevias so shutting that
if we go above it this is my tea drawer so this is full of coffee so I have herbal teas
this is basically the cabinet of doom so I do have plans to build shelves under here
and make it more organized but as of now this is what it looks like I have a paper towel holder
I have my cleaning products I have my cookware and like a juicer and a blender down there
so this drawer is false because my sink is right here obviously flour and a lot of water bottles
um some noodles and my shampoos and conditioners in the lovely drawer above that we have my cutlery
so I have my butter knives underneath my spoons because I don't use them very often
and I just don't have space I don't have another slot to keep them in
then I have forks and straws I have glass straws metal straws and then chopsticks I have on the
other side my knife which I still need to build out my knife rack but I have all of my wooden
utensils spatulas ladles I have mortar and pestle I have all my spices at the top and then on the
second row are cans and pasta and then in the third drawer there's um like starches and sweet
sugar and in the very bottom is vinegar and sometimes some oils I think I have like liquid
smoke down there so over here I have a basket that I impulsively bought and in it is potatoes and
onions then I have a beautiful cornucopia for Thanksgiving you can't see it but there's a
little cup with vodka chocolates it's chocolates literally filled with vodka I have my kombucha
that I've been drinking for the past like five hours this is my dish drying rack behind this
massive pot that needs to be moved I have a vase and it always stays here it's glued down to the
countertop oh yeah you guys are probably like how do you move around with all this junk everywhere
I have a clear putty and you set it under things and it will stick to the surface and after 30
minutes it's like like I can't move this but I'm not gonna if you pull it hard enough it will come
up but it's pretty great and that's what this has too so I've got a little salt and pepper shaker
that's it's ornamental this is my soap dispenser so I can get myself some soap I have a rack for my
sponges and I use silicone sponges because they're easier to clean and sanitize so this is my sink
it's a deep sink and I'm so glad that I have a deep sink I don't understand like how people
would ever live with a smaller one I have a filter water faucet and then a regular water faucet and
it pulls out and has a sprayer shifting over here you can see this is my I just hit my head
this is my 1970s Italian wallpaper so it actually has some gold in it and if you look at it in the
right light it's actually like a little bit reflective gold it's gorgeous this these items
are both glued down I have lavender and my matcha whisk this is my beloved kettle it's cute it works
I love it I have an induction cooktop with two burners now I know you want to get into the juicy
stuff the bedroom but we cannot yet let's turn around to the other side of my kitchen which is
my living room I guess starting over here I have my art piece and yeah it can like wiggle but it's
not gonna come off this one does scare me though it does move a little bit but it's fine it won't
come off I promise this is syrups this is my lovely doll her name I probably can't say on
YouTube but under her is my lighter collection I have a bunch of art up here I have some zines
and just little cards that people gave me and I think it's so very sweet I have my crystals
I have random plastic fruit I have my everybody loves to talk about my license up here
I have another art piece so a lot of the art in my van is actually victorian era stereograph images
so they're gorgeous and on this end is my incense and I have so much incense that I had to throw
away all the boxes and just use the little pouches of incense themselves because it was taking up too
much space also I need to address the art on this end of the van I have a photo of me and my friend
Hannah and over here is a velvet frame an orange velvet frame with this glass like multi-layered
glass flowers super cool so my couch is made with silk velvet so it's extremely soft then I have a
matching velvet yellow pillow that I thrifted I have a shawl that I also thrifted and I use it as
just like a back piece for my couch I have a cat bed and every time that I have to go to the bathroom
which I will show you is actually in the couch I have to take off the cat bed and the pillows
but it's not too bad I have a little cat toy I have my purse it gets moved around here there and
everywhere so I'll show you how to open this just take this pillow here combine these I usually just
set them on the bed and then lift this okay I have a pee funnel and I use that to save a lot
of money because my toilet is like two dollars a flush and I'm I'm not gonna pay for that
and my toilet seat just lifts up and yeah it kind of like it somebody said it's basically a diaper
genie for adults it just vacuum seals everything and this has a um whatever this is called and then
this is it just stays up with this lift I don't remember what these are called at all and then
on this side of my couch there's actually a litter box and a little cat door it does go in
as well but I need to cut the plastic box in there so that it fits a little bit better
we'll work on it this is my shower pan on the floor and I'll show you the ceiling this here
is my shower head I am considering buying like a smaller circular one but for now this works
and the way that my shower is I just have a curtain that hooks in on four points in my
ceiling that are hidden the faucet for my shower head is in my cabinet under my sink
and it just makes it easy to turn off and on because it's right here so this is where I keep
my clothes or at least try to keep most of them I just move these curtains out of the way and
a table oh table pops out and it goes quite far it goes almost the whole length of my couch
in this upper drawer are my shorts pants shirts oh and it makes an awful noise but
this pulls all the way out almost the length of my couch as well this drawer is really small
but it just has my socks and my belts and swimsuits and accessories
welcome to my bedroom this is my favorite spot in the van mainly because it's just so cozy
and I've had a lot of good times just watching movies on my projector and reading and looking
through my skylight so more stuff to be built I have to build out a shelf for all of my
dvds and dvd player and I have books over here and I also have books on this side that I need
to build out a shelf for I have an incense burner a little nightlight my tiara some alien ears
and then just an assortment of trinkets and a candle and if you remove my projector screen
I have a little altar space behind it that I like to change out seasonally I'll show you the back of
van now and I'll show you my camping storage now I'm going to show you what the back of my van looks
like and I'm going to open these doors and my window covers will fall out there we go lost one
here these are my window cutouts I made it to where it looks cute from the outside when the
doors are open and this is my laundry basket so there's actually a little laundry chute I just
lift my mattress up and then there's a board under here that you lift up and you put your clothes down
my laundry's full so I'm gonna take that inside and do my laundry all right so this is where all
the fun goodies are I have a huge drawer and it pulls out and has all my camping gear so this
slides out and it is on locks so yeah you can see the slides all the way out it's fully extended
and I can get to anything in my duffel or my cooler I've got my tents machete all the goodies
all right lock it back into place and we're done over on this side I have a breaker board
so I can turn off or on whatever I need to I have batteries on this side and all my electrical
and then over here I have my diesel tank for my diesel heater and a water tank behind it and my
is gas so I can't just directly hook that up together and on this side I just store my hose
and a tube for tubing and some little ice cubes for my cooler that's all that I have for you if
you would like to see my cab on a day that it isn't full of stuff then comment down below
please comment rate and subscribe and let me know in the comments what was your favorite
part of my van all right peace out
