What's going on guys?
Welcome back to the dealer tour.
We're here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We drove all the way from Corbin's this morning
and we were driving to Denver tonight.
So we were literally running on such little sleep,
but we're here and Hit or Miss Archery,
it's a super awesome shop.
We're gonna dive in and see what they're all about.
Neil is gonna take us through this awesome shop here
in Albuquerque, Hit or Miss.
It's a cool shop, you're gonna love it.
So welcome to Hit or Miss guys.
When you first walk in the door here,
we've got our pro shop kind of laid out here.
We're with all the technicians.
So when you first come in,
that's who you're gonna see our guys here
working on your equipment.
We've got calls and everything laid out here.
You're busy.
You got one, two, three, four, five, six people here.
Yep.
Busy bees.
What's the story on these?
So this is actually Raul's, he's a wicked artist.
So he actually hand carves all this down
with like a Dremel and small tools.
So he's a shed hunter and an outfitter and guide
and all that.
So he does a lot of stuff.
So he's always out shed hunting.
Then when he finds a cool set like that,
he'll carve them and then he just raffles them off
for his own little deal.
But yeah.
Yeah, so then walking over here
is gonna be our showroom area.
Our cashier and pro shooter, Cassidy.
And then here's our bow wall.
We've got Matthew's Mission, Prime and Quest,
Bear, PSE, Hoyt, Elite and then our used walls
down there at the end.
You got them all?
Pretty much got them all, yeah.
Anything that you want, we can-
Do you find that your customers come in
like knowing what they want?
You know what?
Honestly, a lot of customers come in,
they're like, hey, I'm here to buy a new bow.
And then we just let them,
we usually get a price point on kind of
what they want to spend.
And then we'll take out bows,
everything in that price point,
let them shoot them and choose for themselves.
We really try not to be one of those shops
or even salespeople that push anything on anybody.
They just say, hey, I want to spend 600 bucks.
Okay, here's five bows at 600 bucks.
Which one do you like the best after you shoot them?
So that's the way we really like to do it.
But yeah, I mean, occasionally you get the guys
that come in, hey, I have to have,
I can only shoot a Hoyt or I can only shoot a Matthews
or whatever it is.
And then we'll set them up with whatever they want.
But even when somebody comes in that way,
like, hey, I can only shoot this bow.
We'll say, well, if you want to spend that much money
on a bow, try A, B and C, not just B, so.
And then just all of our accessory walls,
just all of the different odds and ends
that you need for a bow.
We just recently became a crispy boot dealer.
Yeah, I saw those over there.
And we've been selling those really well.
I didn't know, bringing a high-end boot,
I was like, I don't know if these are going to sell
or not going to sell.
And they've actually sold really well for us.
So, and then kind of the fun part,
which we've kind of changed this,
or all our target area as well,
but kind of just talked to our targets.
This showroom, when we first moved in, felt huge.
Like I said, when we first opened up,
we had a display case full of blazer veins.
And then it felt like we were never going to fill this space
and now it feels like we're running out of space.
But we used to have this as like a bar top
and then with bar stools there.
So people could sit here and watch people shoot.
So if they had their kiddo,
you could just sit or husband, wife, whatever,
didn't want to shoot,
they could sit here and then watch
the people shoot out there.
But it wasn't getting used that much.
And we were running out of space
and that took a lot of space up.
So we made this now our arrow wall.
So that was just a recent change to the shop.
But that's, looking out through here,
that's going to be what kind of sets us apart.
That's our range out there.
And again, you can kind of see that tunnel, it's 56 yards.
So you can shoot 56 yards out there.
Our big traditional wall up here above us,
cases, storage room.
And then just, again, just our arrow
and finishing out our showroom here
and then I'll bring you out here to the range.
You guys can check out the range.
So here's the kids' favorite part, the vending machines
and then adults' favorite parts, the coffee area.
We just recently added a small little coffee bar
for our customers.
But, and then this is our range.
So again, we've got 40 yards to the back wall
and now the tunnels shoot 56 yards.
We've got a paper side of the range.
They're on casters.
So we can move them as close or as far as we want.
So it's 40 yards from the yellow line.
From the yellow line, yeah, to the, to the bell.
And then on that side, the three targets,
they're just kind of randomly spread, however.
So, and that's really it.
This is our hangout spot.
Yeah, this is, this is quite the range.
Okay, so my name is Neil Overbay
and this is Hit or Miss Archery Center.
And we started this business in 2014, February of 2014.
So honestly, what happened was,
is I used to be one of those guys
that would pick up my bow three or four weeks
before the hunt and kind of get excited back in
and start shooting and then go on my hunt.
And I went on a hunt
and most people think it's one of those fish stories
but I literally seen the biggest bull I'd ever seen
and had an opportunity on him.
It was real foggy out.
My range finder was bouncing off the fog.
I didn't know the distance for sure.
So I kind of guessed
and I hit the bull right in no man's land, the back strap.
Literally dropped my bow in the ground,
had tears in my eyes, started praying.
I'm like, Lord, please let me find this bull.
I'm so sorry I did this.
And I just felt guilt come over me
because I knew it was my fault for not practicing,
not knowing my distance
and just not being as well as I should be with my bow.
So look for that bull for four days,
can never find him.
Went back to camp and told my wife.
I said, you know what?
If we're gonna continue to be bow hunters,
we need to be serious about shooting a bow.
Not pick up our bows a couple of weeks before.
So from that, we started hit or miss archery club
and we would get together with like six or seven guys.
We all pitched in some money and brought some three targets,
started out with like five.
And then the club kept growing, growing, growing.
And then all of a sudden we had once a month,
40 to 50 people showing up at hit or miss archery club,
shooting in the down by the river.
So the club started probably in 2001.
So yeah, we had the club going for a while.
Yeah.
So we opened the doors to this
and we had like three of these display cases behind me.
And the only thing we had in them was blazer veins.
And I had a prime on the wall,
maybe two, I think two or three primes on the wall
and a couple of expedition bows on the wall.
And maybe four or five releases to choose from.
When you walk in, you see our guys.
Again, it goes back to customer service.
So when you walk in, I tell the guys,
the first thing that customer sees is you.
So it needs to be a happy face, smiley face.
So one is I always like to say
that our customer service is number one.
And then the second thing I think that really sets us apart
and it's obvious is the range.
We had 40 yards when we first opened the shop
and then just recently we repurchased that trailer.
So now you can shoot 56 yards indoors.
So being that you can shoot 56 yards indoors
is pretty cool.
So the target shooters that even shoot 50 meters,
they were pumped.
They're like, we can shoot 50 meters inside now.
So I do mostly the inventory
and help out with odds and ends.
Neil does more of the ordering side, more office stuff.
I just do a lot of inventory,
checking in, pricing.
So when I met Neil, he steered me towards that direction.
So ever since then, that's all we've done.
And so now with our two kids,
they also shoot archery as well.
All right, guys.
Well, there is a ton of people here.
It's a Saturday.
There's a lot of everyday shooters in here.
And we're gonna do a challenge soon.
We're gonna give away a $300 gift card.
I think what we're gonna do is closest to center
at 56 yards, which is their farthest target.
And they can shoot 56 yards inside,
which is absolutely insane.
Tons of 3D targets.
So we're gonna do that in a little bit.
It should be some fun.
This is literally the coolest kid in the entire world.
His name's Diego.
How old are you?
I'm 12.
He's 12.
He literally skipped out on his baseball tournament early
just to come here and shoot and hang out.
So what do you say?
Kids have been whipping my butt all day.
They've been smacking down on me.
They've been stealing all my hats.
You wanna do like a closest to center?
If you win, you win a hat?
Sure.
Sure?
Okay.
What target do you wanna shoot at?
What shoot?
The Mountain Goat.
Yeah.
You sure?
Yeah.
I'm gonna shoot the Mountain Goat all the way back there.
All right, let's rock and roll.
Oh, you smoked that.
What's up with all these kids smoking them?
All right, so you pretty much hit the upper 12.
So I'll try to aim at the upper 12 also.
We'll see you.
Oh, they're close down there.
What's up with all these kids?
They like roll up and they're smoking me out of it.
Oh, they don't even have an upper 12.
Okay, so technically if we were,
I thought they had an upper 12,
but technically if we were going closest to center
to the 12, you're a little closer.
Good shoot, man.
Smoked it.
That was even a hill shot on this, you know?
Like if you actually killed it.
That was good.
And then now this is gonna be the fun part
of their trip for them.
The rest of it's been kind of business
and they had to do some stuff inside the shop earlier,
but now they get to play a little bit with you guys.
So what we're gonna do is we have the moose down there
and you guys are gonna shoot
and they're gonna split 12 people up at a time.
You guys will shoot and take two out at a time.
So how it'll work is just cause we don't wanna bust
all your guys' arrows up,
we'll shoot 12 or so people at a time.
If you hit the 12, you'll move forward.
So if you miss the 12, you're out.
We'll keep moving forward round per round
until there's six or fewer people left.
So once there's six people,
then we'll do like a one arrow
closest to center of 12 on the moose for the gift card.
Does that make sense?
$300 UltraView gift card is what you get for winning.
We got three.
So let's leave those three in
and then everyone who's out, let's pull them.
All right, so we got five people.
Everyone shot really good at the moose.
It's just so hard to see the line,
so we knew it'd be a really good challenge.
Only five people made it,
but now we have a tiny little target down at 56 yards.
Closest to the center is gonna win a $300 gift card to UV.
So hopefully we get a winner out of this.
All righty.
Red veins.
Right there.
Oh, moose!
Moose!
Moose.
Good job, moose.
You wanna take a picture with it?
Sure.
All right, so now this is when we can butter it up.
Did you watch the last live feed?
So, you have a $300 gift card.
You got $100 from the hit or miss now.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I already buttered it up.
We can add $150 to that for 450
if you wanna shoot off against me closest to center.
If you win, 150 bucks.
If you lose, $150 gift card.
$150 on them.
So your gift card can get cut in half
or it can be doubled or added.
Here we go.
Last arrow, $150 increase on the line.
Oh!
These are like, right next to each other.
I don't know whose is whose, but I'll say it's mine.
Ah!
We'll still get your whole card.
Thanks, man.
No worries.
I appreciate it.
There you go.
Oh my god.
Oh, are you kidding?
Robbing the kid.
We won't rob him.
We'll still give him the full card,
but it's all for fun.
Moose cashed out today.
Thank you.
You're very welcome.
Thank you, everybody, for participating.
All right, guys, so that's a wrap at Hit or Miss Archery.
Huge thanks to all the guys and Neil at Hit or Miss.
Super awesome day, super awesome range.
If you're anywhere near Albuquerque,
it is a must to come in and shoot on the range,
hang out with the guys.
It's a super awesome place.
So, thank you so much for watching.
We'll catch you guys in the next one.
