Biggest Cat I ve Ever Groomed Biggest Baby Too

Today we are grooming Fergus, the one-year-old Maine Coon that has never been professionally groomed before. Hi. Hello. Do you like tubes? No? I believe that you do. Hello pretty boy. Tube. To me Maine Coons always look like lions. Like their face resembles a lion to me. I'm just getting the absorber ready because he is a large cat with a lot of hair and I want to remove as much of that water from his coat as possible before blow drying. He is too big to go into the hair fryer so if I do successfully bathe him today I don't want to put him in there. So this thing just gets ringed out after you wet it down and then it's ready to go. So I will use both a towel and an absorber on him today if I am able to successfully ring him. You need to come out. Are you showing me your belly? Oh my god. You are covered in food. Did somebody coax you into the carrier with food? I guess you need a bath. It wasn't food in his carrier. It was in fact puke. She did not think that he had puked in the car but he most definitely did. Okay let's try to clip your nails shall we? Hello. Hello giant cat. You are huge. Do you have some matting? A little bit. She said you don't like your back end being touched. Something tells me if I got bit by you it would be some giant teeths. Look at this tail. Oh my god you have food all over you. I always forget how freaking gigantic Maine Coons are. You are like half the size of me. These are some long nails buddy. Can I see your front paw? Look at this guy. Maine Coons are typically very friendly cats. They are the dogs of the cat world. However I have experienced a few Maine Coons that were not friendly for grooming. So I just like to take a little bit of precaution because they are obviously a very big cat. And getting nailed from a cat of this size would not be a good time. Can I see your paw? Am I allowed? Oh those nails are short. Okay fight me as you will. Those nails are extremely short so those were clipped. The back ones were not. Well that makes my life a little easier. Let's try brushing shall we? There's so much puke back here that it's going to be hard to brush through your mats. These are mostly shedding mats not actual matting so they should come out pretty easily with the brush. Please let me brush you okay? I hope that you will tolerate a bath because you're a stinky man. I can't really brush where his puke is. Yeah these are going to come out fairly easily so hopefully I can bathe him and hopefully I can blow dry him in the rage cage because that would make his grooming a lot better. So I think that's what we're going to go and do. I am going to get a happy hoodie and turn the water on now. Okay happy hoodie just so you don't panic from the noise. This is the first time I've had to put a small on a cat. Usually I use an extra small but he is extra large. All right hopefully you don't fly out of here. Fingers crossed. Don't fly. No flying. Sometimes I like turning them this way because if I turn them the other way they notice that there's an exit to the tub and then they start to jump. Remain where you are. I know but you got food in there. I'm sorry. Okay we rinse. We rinse. Okay rinse time. Don't be mad. Don't be mad. Don't be mad. No no. I always get a little nervous when those meows get a little louder. No we may not jump. Jumping is unacceptable behavior. We must remain still and calm. I mean if you hadn't puked all over yourself I may not have had to have bathed you but you did. Someone does someone gets car sick? Could you get car sick? No don't jump. Don't don't jump. Sir it's almost over. You survived. Okay okay okay. Don't look at me like that. Poor unfortunate Fergus. Hey now you have to experience the dryer. I'm sorry to say that's even worse. So the reason why he's here for grooming is because the owner is having a hard time dealing with his back end because he doesn't like it. So hopefully I can blow him all out today and brush through any of those mats that he has in his back end and shave up his bum. You know his sanitary. I don't think you will take too long to dry as long as you tolerate it I guess. If not I shall put you in the other drying cage but that drying cage never does an excellent job. You may not jump or exit out of the bathtub. Please remain where you are. I am going to put the cone on him not because I'm worried he's going to bite but sometimes the cone gives them a little bit more protection against the wind in their face when I am drying them. So I'm going to slap that on him. Stay there. All right I'm going to turn the fan on first just to see how he reacts. A very good boy. I don't know why I thought that the hair fryer could not hold a Maine Coon. It's actually a lot bigger than I realized because he fits in there quite well. He still has space to move around. So disregard. He is going to bake in here for a little bit and then once he's dry I will remove him. I'm not sure if this helps you guys reference how giant this cat is. I know I'm small but like this is a big cat. You're big. Okay will you let me dry you? You are pretty much dry. I just need to do a little bit of drying and brushing. Okay I'm going to keep the happy hoodie on him because it is keeping him fairly still. He does need a very good combing. Yes you need a good combing. No we must turn this way. He doesn't particularly have much matting. I shaved out the matting that he had which was very little but he does have these little tiny pin mats all over his body. So I'm just going to do a line brushing on him or line combing I should say and remove as much of that as I can. And if I do see a mat I will shave it out for his comfort. Just like that. People always ask me what temperature my blow dryer is at. So when I use the small handheld dryer it is on hot. However it's very important that when you are drying an animal with a hot dryer that you are constantly keeping that dryer moving so that it's never sitting in one area for too long and can cause the skin to burn. So just kind of like you would dry your own hair you wouldn't just let it sit on one spot. The same thing when you are drying. Sometimes when I use the blower not that dryer but the high velocity dryer it's not as hot so I can leave it on one spot because it won't burn. But that depends on your high velocity dryer. I know you don't like this but you need it. I know we're going to get rid of all these little mats and you're not going to nip me. Nope you must remain there. It's not really matted he's just shedding quite a bit. I know I'm sorry. Okay now I need you to flip on the other side. He's very soft. I need you to flip on the other side. Yes thank you. Good boy. Want me to shave it? I don't need to shave it. It could definitely be brushed but he doesn't really like it. It's okay. Look I shaved it okay. This side is a bit more matted up than the other side. I'm sorry. What happened to this side? Why is it so matted? Can I brush around your face? And then you were all finished. Okay you were such a good boy. I'm not going to shave his paw pads just because most of the Maine Coon owners that I work with like their big fluffy paws. It makes them who they are and they don't want them shaved. So I'm not going to touch them. They are not crazy long anyways and they're certainly not matted. But he got everything they wanted done today. A bum shave, a bath and a brush out. Yes you have no matting. I feel like no matter what way I brush I just keep pulling out more hair. It just keeps coming. No? We tried. All right. Want to go in your house?
