On the fourth day of my trip in Bangkok I headed out to try very spicy Thai food. There are so many extremely spicy dishes in Thailand, and most of them come from the south.
I first tried a red curry duck for breakfast at the Oriental Residence Bangkok. The dish wasn't that bad. Next up I quickly stopped at MahaNakhon Tower, the tallest building in Thailand.
For lunch I headed to a southern Thai restaurant to try the glorious trinity, these dishes were spicy!! For early dinner I headed with my friend Pear to Banglamphu area to try even more spicy dishes. Most of them weren't so spicy so I had to add chilis!
My favorite dish of the day is sticky beans or Pad Sataw. They are sooooo good! Have you eaten any of these spicy Thai dishes?

What's up guys, David Hoffman here from Davidsbeenhere.com in beautiful Bangkok.
I'm here staying at the Oriental Residences Bangkok on Wireless Road.
And today I'm going to take you on a spicy food journey in Bangkok.
I love spicy food and yesterday I met up with my friend Mark Beans from Migrationology.
He's also a spicy food fanatic.
He was telling me a few different places I have to go to.
So I'm going to go to some places he recommended.
And I'm also going to go to some other places to try some typical dishes that are really, really spicy.
First we're going to go downstairs to have breakfast here at the buffet.
They have some spicy Thai food.
Let's go.
My man here.
That one?
Yes.
It's spicy?
Yes.
Red curry with roasted duck for breakfast.
The spiciest dish they have is red curry with roasted duck for breakfast.
And if you don't think the red curry with roasted duck is spicy enough,
then you put some of these red chilies like this.
You put it on the side next to your rice.
Here we go.
Our first spicy dish of the day.
Red curry with roasted duck.
Chilies in here.
Not really spicy.
See these little chilies.
That's spicy.
Oh my god.
So they always have those little red chilies on the side.
So you can always put it onto your dish.
Roasted duck is pretty good.
I don't know about eating this for breakfast.
Wow, those chilies are good but spicy.
Breakfast was spicy and delicious.
And now before we go to lunch, I'm going to take you to the tallest tower in Bangkok and in Thailand.
It's called Mahanakron Tower.
It's amazing.
It's an architectural masterpiece.
I'm going to take you there right now.
It's so sick.
I got to show you it.
The fastest way to get to Mahanakron Tower from the Oriental Residences is to take the BTS.
From here, we connect in Siam Station and go down to Chong Nong Si.
And that station is connected to the tower.
And there it is.
Mahanakron Tower.
Let's get a little closer so you guys can see it.
What I'm going to do for you guys is I'm going to shoot my drone up
so we can get some epic footage of this tower.
Oh, I can't wait.
This is Mahanakron Tower.
It stands at 1,031 feet high with 77 floors,
making it the tallest building in Bangkok and in Thailand.
It has a hotel, retail, and 200 residential condos that are part of the Ritz-Carlton Residences.
They are the most expensive condos in Bangkok, ranging in between 1 and 17 million dollars.
I love architecture.
Skyscrapers are insane here in Asia.
And this is one of the newest skyscraper wonders you have to see when in Asia.
Yeah.
Alright.
One of my favorite ways to get around the whole world is by taking Uber.
So for lunch, I'm headed to a typical Southern Thai restaurant called Rum Thai.
It's on the other side of the river.
And there we're going to eat the Glorious Trinity.
That's what Mark recommended to me.
And those are three typical Southern Thai dishes.
And they are spicy.
Selfie.
Thank you.
Have a good one, man.
Traffic is no joke here.
It took us like 30 minutes to get here and it wasn't that far.
Here we go.
This is the restaurant.
It's really spicy, right?
Really spicy.
Very spicy.
Okay.
Bamboo shoots.
Bamboo shoots, okay.
Yes, yes.
Pad seto.
So this is pad seto.
This is like sticky beans.
This is in Southern Thailand and also Malaysia.
So they mix it with a little bit of rice.
Everything here is very spicy.
Not so spicy.
It's hot, it's hot.
So this is Kam Som, which is a fish with coconut shoots.
Gotta be careful of the spines here.
Bones in here.
Careful of the spines.
It's not that spicy.
That's not spicy.
No, I think I need chili.
Chili.
So this is tai pa.
Kaung tai pa.
Fish bladder curry with roasted fish and a dark sauce.
He said it's the spiciest one.
Definitely spicy in there.
Delicious, the sauce.
There's also bamboo shoots here.
Oh, I like it a lot.
Really good with the rice.
So out of all three, my personal favorite is the pad seto.
Which is this sticky beans.
But it's not spicy enough.
So I'm gonna go a little wild.
Get a bunch of chilies.
Mix it all in with some rice.
It's so good.
I think the owner here just gave me this pork chili dish.
Looks great.
It should be hot.
Alright, so let's see.
With chilies.
Ooh, yeah, hot.
Oh, it's good.
Yeah, this one definitely needs rice.
This is so good though.
It's like a mashed pork.
Oh, I have to pour the water.
It's more spicy.
Have to eat with chili.
You don't have to eat with it.
Yeah, no, but this is the best.
The sticky beans.
I could eat this forever.
It's probably one of my favorite dishes in Thailand.
This and the papaya salad.
Just like all vegetables.
It's chili, it's hot, but it's not unbearable.
Oh my god.
Go find some sweet dessert to cool us down.
So it's a kind of grain.
I don't know what it's called in English.
I hope it calms the heat down.
Mmm, delicious.
It's like a bread pudding with coconut milk.
Mmm, yeah, it's cooling down the heat.
So I actually went to the wrong restaurant.
I went next door to Chaw Wah.
This is Rum Thai.
They're both southern Thai cuisine.
Same dishes, very spicy.
Their restaurant's actually the oldest one, over 30 years.
First southern Thai restaurant in the area.
I mean, with this heat, you're going to boil eating this food, but it's fine.
Now I'm going to meet up with a friend and we're going to try some more spicy dishes.
So everything I ate came out to 250 baht.
And I had a second course of sticky beans.
So it's roughly about 8 US dollars.
You just been to around Khao San Road?
I went to where we're going now.
We're going to…
Khao San.
Khao San Road.
Have you been there before?
No, but we're going there.
I'm here with my friend Pear.
She's a local.
She's going to take me to Bang Lam Po.
That's an area next to Khao San Road.
I went the other day to try some other dishes, but we're going to find some spicy dishes.
I want the spicy, spicy, spicy.
Spicy.
Because this video is all about spicy food.
You will not like.
Trust me.
Alright, so now we're going to go and try a few things.
Let's go.
So we're going to Bang Lam Po and then Khao San Road.
That is like where the backpackers go.
The first time you come here, if you're coming and you're backpacking, this is probably where you'll stay.
This is where everybody comes.
Super famous.
There's street food everywhere, as you can see.
Like this.
Here in Khao San Road, there's also shopping and I'm going to quickly see if I find a mask.
A Buddha mask?
Over there.
It's Buddha?
On the right.
Okay, yeah.
Something like that, yeah.
So I got this mask for my daughter.
It started at $1,500 and negotiated down to $600 baht, which is basically like $20.
I think she's going to love it.
She loves masks.
Alright, let's take it.
So we're going to try Lamu.
These chilies.
Crazy.
So it's chili, garlic, some rice.
It makes it really dry?
Yeah.
I don't know.
If they're putting these chilies in, I'm going to die.
Because it's yellow.
It means yellow.
A fish and some like bamboo.
Lamu.
Let's see how spicy this is.
That's so spicy.
What you do when it's not spicy enough, you get a little bit of these chilies.
So I put a little bit.
That's a lot.
Oh my god.
Oh, but it's delicious.
It's spicy, but it has so much flavor.
I love it.
If you want to be really adventurous, you just go all out with chilies.
I know people that eat like 30 chilies.
My lips are tingling.
This one shouldn't be so hot.
Yeah, this is what I had earlier at the other restaurant.
But it's good.
It's not spicy.
You have to put some of this.
The more you do, the worse you feel.
I understand why they eat the food.
It makes your pressure go down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's good for your mouth.
Pear was suggesting we have some watermelon shakes.
That really cooled me down.
Everything just went...
Perfect.
Yeah, this saved me.
Watermelon shake and it's literally right in front of us.
So those two dishes cost 70 baht, which is like 2 bucks.
We are going to eat some noodles.
Koi Jap Yuan.
Yuan.
And they're spicy?
Spicy.
But you have to put the chili inside.
I mean most of the dishes you have to put the chili inside.
Don't put too much.
So I'm getting a spicy noodle bowl.
And I'm also getting a spicy sausage.
I think it's the same one I had in Chiang Mai.
Okay, so right here I have the noodle bowl.
And this is like a spicy sausage.
I'm going to start with this because they said it's spicy already.
Well, you have a chili there.
Not so spicy.
But it reminds me of a papaya salad with sausage.
Delicious.
It's hot.
But it's so good.
That was hot.
So next, I'm going to try this noodle bowl.
This is like tofu right here, no?
Egg.
So this is pork right here.
Oh my god, I have to, right?
It's a nice spice.
It's not too spicy.
Just gives it enough flavor.
Wow.
My eyes are watering.
This broth is delicious.
I think I have to give the noodles a second because they're too hot.
This is the pork.
You can see the chilies are there.
Make it as spicy as possible.
You know what?
It's not that bad.
You can see all the chili flakes everywhere.
The seeds.
So after all those spicy dishes, I won't lie to you, my lips are tingling.
I can barely feel my tongue.
I can't even laugh, it hurts.
I suggest none of you do what I did today because I don't know how I'm going to get through the next day.
My stomach is destroyed.
I mean, it's a lot.
Pharmacy.
Why?
She said I should take something called the White Rabbit.
That will coat my stomach and help me get through because my stomach is killing me from the spices.
But it's good, it's good.
Got the White Rabbit.
It feels like some type of milk or something.
The best way for me to get home right now is to jump on one of these motorbikes.
Thank you so much.
Let's jump on this thing.
Nah, it's not that.
So I hope you guys enjoyed this spicy Thai food tour.
It was pretty epic from breakfast to lunch to dinner.
My stomach is beat but I definitely recommend you try some of those dishes.
I don't recommend you do it all in one day because that's not smart.
I did it for you guys.
Love you guys.
I'll see you in the morning.
Tomorrow, I'm off to my 69th country and that is the Philippines.
