Frank, well done. Those were three points hard-earned, but the boys gave absolutely everything over those 90 minutes, didn't they?
Oh yeah, for sure. It was hard-earned and well-earned, I felt in the end. A big test for us. Good team in good form, playing well and fighting for it.
We're fighting for what we're fighting for. There were parts of the game I didn't love. The goal from Frank was great—it was brilliant—but the first half wasn't us.
We got involved, I think, in a game they enjoy playing and play regularly—a larger game involving transitions and the like.
which we normally control more, play more, and take fewer risks. Perhaps, after going 1-0 up, to be fair to the lads, it gives you that feeling,
Let's not take any risks and let's keep going longer. It wasn't us, and it was important to say at half-time. Second half, much, much better.
Created plenty of chances, Josh—two clear-cut opportunities, and the goals we scored were just the result of more crosses, more everything, which is normally how we play at the CBS.
So yeah, delighted with the boys, handled the game that was in front of them, and yeah, big win, big win.
When you sent Jack Radonyi on, did you say, "Go and get me a couple of goals, Jack?"
Well, I said, are you ready for half an hour? And he said, I'm ready for more than that. There was half an hour left.
So I'm glad I asked him yesterday, and he's just gotten fit and hasn't trained for many days.
But this week, when he's training, he shows his usual quality, and the most important thing isn't the most important thing—the most important thing is his talent.
But the desire to come in and contribute for this team, and then the ability. The first goal was incredible right there.
I see it a lot with him. I know he's got that move, but he uses it and sends everyone the wrong way from the great finish.
And then the other goal was such a clinical finish and excellent positioning in the box.
I loved it, loved the impact the boys who came on made. I felt it was the right moment to make that change, and they delivered.
After Berit and Diaz get a somewhat questionable penalty, making it 2-2, it seems?
Yeah, and I have to say I've sat and stood and watched some big decisions go against us this season.
I haven't loved them at all, the opposite. But this one, I kind of understand the referee.
We get the replay. VAR, I think, changes it because Rushy clearly touches the ball.
But at full speed, without VAR, I'm not sure the referee's intentions are clear—it looks like a penalty.
I'm pleased now because it once again showed the character of this group to keep going and to do what we're doing, to see the game through.
And three points closer to what everyone wants.
Millwall winning at Middlesbrough has shaken things up a bit just beneath you now, hasn't it?
Yeah, and thankfully we've had two weekends now, back to back, where some results have seemingly gone in our favor.
That's not to disrespect Millwall, but they were further behind.
They get a result, and we go handle our business—and that's what we need to do from now on.
Because the lads have gotten themselves into this situation.
We need to adopt the mindset and thought processes regarding what we do.
Let's attack every game. Let's not be nervous. Let's not be, whatever may be.
No, no, this is our job—to attack everything the same way the lads have attacked this season.
We've got six more. So let's go and just keep pushing forward with the character and the quality we showed tonight.
And you're playing last again on Monday now in Hull, aren't you?
Yeah, I mean, I'm not too bothered by that. I understand some managers talk about it a lot.
Your job is what it is, the game that's in front of you.
I know it might change your mood.
But when we had results before Swansea, they were in our favor.
It didn't make me say, oh, that's fine.
It didn't make me do anything.
It's like the game in front of us—we need to win.
We want to win it.
But I spoke to the lads before the game about it.
But personally, I'm not sure it helps.
The results went the other way before.
Does that increase the tension on it?
I don't know. We have to focus on our game.
And another club record tonight.
There have been quite a few of them, but 25 wins in a season.
That's more than this club has ever achieved before.
Yes, well, I'm delighted with that.
I'm delighted with that.
We have a great history, this club.
And, you know, that's great.
Let's get some more.
Frank, a special night for the players.
Before we discuss your goal, just tell us how you're feeling overall after tonight.
and the team's performance, the way the boys played.
Yeah, I think it was a good performance from the team and the way we fought.
Even when we were 2-2, we came back and Jack Goodie came on and scored two goals.
which was truly important.
And now we are happy about the victory.
OK, so tell us about your goal then.
It was a special one, wasn't it?
It was a special one.
I saw the keeper of the line.
I had to chip it.
Yeah, it was a good goal.
I'm happy I scored my first goal for Coventry, which I'm really excited about.
Yeah, and it started out on the right-hand side, you and Tats,
And you won the ball back, then you went for a one-two with Romain, didn't you?
Yeah, so I had to, you know, move forward instead of going backwards.
Because I feel we have more men on the right-hand side play.
1-2, keep running, got the ball, and just, you know, scored the goal.
So I'm really happy.
How are you feeling tonight?
Obviously, you've been away from Nigeria.
And did that take anything out of you, do you think?
Yeah, tired.
Played on Tuesday night, traveled, came back, had a couple of training sessions on Thursday
And now play today.
So it's nice to get, you know, this time, you know, to go away with Nigeria,
which is, you know, a proud moment for me representing my country.
But also, you know, traveling around and coming back, it's tiring, you know.
But, you know, keep going.
And three points tonight definitely helps.
Talk to us about Jack Redoni and his impact off the bench tonight.
He's really good.
I'm really happy.
You know, even when I was away, we texted a few times to ask if he had already started training.
He told me, yes, I was really happy.
Come on, which is exactly what we needed at that moment.
Sorry, at that moment.
And he came on, scored two goals for us, which is really good.
And now we move on to three points.
And two incredible finishes as well.
The second one, he's unmarked inside the box.
He had to kind of quickly switch his feet for the first one, didn't he?
Yeah, you know, Redoni is always solid around the box area.
He always scored those goals, even in training.
And I had no doubt when he got the ball.
So I knew it was going to score.
Yeah, really happy.
And once again, the resilience and character of the boys.
You noticed that to come, obviously, take the lead twice, to be pegged back twice.
I don't think Kyle Rushworth thought it was a penalty either.
But you still had the belief and the confidence to keep going and win the game, Frank.
Yeah, it's all about, as you said, believing, you know,
Even when we were 2-2, we kept fighting, kept chasing that one goal.
And, you know, Tango, we've got the goal.
And, you know, happy that we secured the victory.
And mathematically, it's not certain, but promotion feels a lot closer now, don't you think?
Yeah, we just need to keep winning our games.
That's all that matters.
Now we've won this game.
We need to focus on Monday and go all out, playing away.
It won't be easy, but we just need to focus on winning the game.
Yeah, and it's about, I suppose, rest and recovery.
A little rest now for yourself personally,
Having been away from your country before Monday, is that it?
Yeah, I need it.
I need to rest.
I need to rest well and be ready to go again on Monday.
