We cover three big things in this episode: Bringing our RV home from the dealer, our first shakedown trip to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, and getting ready to go full-time in our RV at the end of this month!
Hey guys, Brandon Aaron here from Five2Go. Today we're going to be talking about bringing our RV
home, taking our first quick trip down to the beach, and then getting ready to go full-time
in two weeks. So we picked up our RV about three weeks ago and brought it home. It was a very
uneventful trip home even though it was my first time towing something so large. I've got the huge
sway control hitch system up on the front which does a great job keeping everything in line.
So after we got it home, got it in the driveway, we got all the leveling blocks and all that stuff
in there. We got the power hooked up in the garage. Didn't hook up water and sewer obviously
at our house because we don't need it. But it was quite an interesting experience getting everything
together for the first time because all we had done before then was watch videos and have someone
walk us through it at the dealership. So it's really cool. We gotta get the routine down. We
gotta figure out what goes where, when, and what order. It's actually gonna be really fun because
I'm all about routines. So there's a trailer hooked up. Hopefully it stays there. It's my
first time towing anything and I'm going straight for a 37 foot 10,000 pound travel trailer.
We'll see how it goes.
How's that feel? It's heavy. Like I take my foot off the brake and it doesn't roll.
A week after we brought the RV home we decided to go on our first trip. We took the RV and all
the children and Vector, our dog, down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We stayed at OBX
campground in Kitty Hawk. It's not on the beach but it's on the other side on its own little
island. It's very peaceful and clean and beautiful and was a great place for our first trip. It's
great. Nice level spot. Yay! So we got it in there. We were able to get everything hooked up.
We remembered our routines. The kids got to play on the playground. Vector got a nice place to be
walked. I think he really enjoyed it too. And we were able to visit with some family while we were
down there as well. It was a really good first trip. While we were down there we went to the
aquarium in Manteo down on Roanoke Island. All three kids absolutely loved it. They got to see
a whole bunch of animals. They got to touch rays. They got to play a bunch outside. They had this
really cool outside nature area. It was absolutely beautiful day. And then later that day we went out
and spent some time with my family and we got to hang out on the beach and see Vector at the ocean
for the first time. And despite it being 67 degrees outside it was the first week in November.
The children put their bathing suits on and I went out with them and we were in the water for a good
hour and a half. I was not. It was good. It wasn't too cold. Good morning at the aquarium in North
Carolina near the Outer Banks in Manteo. Three of the kids are very excited to be here. We like to
come to the beach when we can wear cold clothes. It was a little windy this morning so instead of
going right out to the beach we decided to come to the aquarium. It was really not that expensive
to come here. It's not like aquariums in big cities. It was $11 for adults and $9 for youth.
Three and up so the little ones aren't able to get in.
So we're gonna go in and check things out. Hopefully
the kids have a good time and we can spend a couple hours here.
Let's go.
I've been coming here since I was little. We live close to the Outer Banks and so
my dad would bring us here. My mom would bring us here. We would meet family and we would come.
All the kids come to the aquarium because it's just a fun nice thing to do. But it has evolved
to be so much more since being as children and it is just amazing what's in here now. It's
really really cool and a real testament to all of the wildlife in this area. So it's really neat
to see all of the things that are surrounding us. A propeller on a boat probably caught a shell.
I see horses. I see crabs. I see two crabs.
Brooke what do you see? A pink one. That one. And that one.
Can you come explain to the camera? What's in it?
This is chicken noodle soup and it's made of chicken noodles and soup. Any vegetables?
Carrots. I love the garnish. No you gotta Bear Grylls this. Come on. Oh no. Yep all the way.
It looks grainy. All the way. All the way. It's um not very chickeny.
Tara it's beautiful but it doesn't taste very good.
That was fun. It's a nice little aquarium. It's very small. Well it's not too overwhelming.
So it's good with the littles. They can't run away too far. Yeah we were there for
about an hour and a half. Hour. Hour and a half. Yeah. Um we're gonna go get some food baby girl.
No. So yeah. So about an hour and a half. I really like the outside stuff. We have never
done that before because we usually come when it's really hot and you don't want to be outside.
So they had this trail called the Lost Woods. Lost Woods yeah. And they just had like natural
play things for the kids to do and you'll see some of it in the video or you have seen some
of it on the video. But um yeah they had a lot of fun just getting dirty and it's nice
when you're kind of on a vacation or away from the hustle and bustle where you're not like
oh my gosh don't get messy. It was just fun to watch them play and not worry about being wet
or covered in sand. So yeah they're kind of gross right now but we really don't care because we're
just gonna grab some quick food and then go pick back her up at the RV and then we're gonna go up
the beach house and get dirty more. Okay you watched it. We're going to the beach. It's a
little cold and a little windy today but that has never stopped a child from getting in water.
We'll see what happens. It's not that bad. So in two weeks when we go full time we are closing
on both of our houses and we will no longer be homeowners. This is going to be our home.
It is very exciting. It's also very scary. There's a lot of questions that we have and there's a lot
of things we feel we're not ready for but we know it'll all work out in the end. We're all very very
much looking forward to it. All the kids are excited. We're going to be living nearby for
about a month until right after Christmas and then we're going to hit the road and start heading south.
We're going to work our way down the east coast. We're going to hit Fayetteville and Myrtle Beach,
Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach and then we're going to end up in Orlando for
about a week. Then we're going to work our way back up the gulf coast to see some family along
the way. Hit Texas and become Texans because why not. When we get to Texas we're going to join the
escapees program. That's a mail service and it will also be our domicile. We'll have a lot more
about that in the future and then we're going to spend a lot of time in Texas because it's a big
state. Then we're going to keep heading west. We're going to go out into New Mexico and then up
into Utah to hit all the big big big national parks which I'm super excited about. Then back
down a little ways and then the ultimate goal kind of the first leg of the trip is to hit the
Pacific in San Diego. Thanks for watching guys. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and share.
