If your carrots are soft or bland, check this out.
Many people make the mistake of adding too much water or not enough heat.
The result is dull, uninteresting carrots.
In this video, we're going to see how to make caramelized carrots.
that is, nicely golden brown, delicious, and above all full of flavor.
Here we go!
First, we start by peeling our carrots and cutting them into regular pieces.
Here, I'm making sticks that are 1 cm thick.
And very importantly, having the same size, they will have the same cooking time.
First, bring a large pot of water to a boil; I add some salt.
Put on the lid and turn the heat to maximum.
The idea is to bring the water to a boil.
Next, we plunge our carrots in and start the pre-cooking for 5 minutes.
This step is extremely important to ensure our carrots are nicely tender on the inside.
Drain the carrots and, careful, here's a little tip,
We'll dry them well with an absorbent paper.
Keep this rule in mind: the drier they are, the easier the coloring will be.
Then I take a large frying pan, ideally made of stainless steel.
We ignite the attack and proceed with a medium to strong fire.
Add a little oil; I'm going to add a small amount of peanut oil.
And very importantly, a nice knob of butter to bring indulgence and color.
And there you have it, when you see that the butter has become nicely fluffy, as it is here,
That means the temperature is ideal; we can plunge in our carrots.
I make sure the carrots are well distributed.
that they are not stacked on top of one another.
That's why we wanted to get a large frying pan.
For the first 2 minutes, cook over medium heat.
I turn the carrots every 30 seconds.
And there it is, a small crust is beginning to form on the carrots.
We can now add a pinch or two of salt.
Then, a small amount of fine sugar or honey, as you prefer.
This is obviously essential for a beautiful caramelization.
And finally, we add a nice sprig of thyme to flavor our carrots as they cook.
So the total cooking time will take between 5 and 7 minutes.
The idea is to continue gently stirring every 30 seconds.
until achieving a beautiful coloration.
And there it is, starting to caramelize nicely.
When you see that color, it means it's ready.
And there you have it, a truly mouthwatering plate.
As you can see, the outside is nicely caramelized,
The inside is melt-in-the-mouth, and above all, it has a delicious taste.
I hope you enjoyed this recipe.
If that's the case, give a big blue thumb up.
