Hey everybody, it's Beth.
Today I'm using this napkin and wall shelf from Dollar Tree as well as these 2.5 inch
wood letters from Amazon.
I start by painting the outside edge of the letters with moss colored chalk paint by Waverly.
For the smaller areas I just use a small paintbrush to paint those areas.
I then painted the fronts of the letters with plaster colored chalk paint also by Waverly.
I dried those completely and then I took Mod Podge and applied that to the fronts of the
letters.
And then once I had that applied I dried the Mod Podge.
And then took the napkin, removed the second layer from it and cut a section off and placed
it over the letters.
I left a little bit of spacing between the letters and made sure that the florals were
covering the letters.
Applied parchment paper down on top of the napkin and ironed it on.
That will reactivate the Mod Podge adhering the napkin into place.
I then cut off most of the excess napkin separating all the letters.
Then once I had them all separated I took my micro sander and sanded off the excess
napkin.
You could also use a flame to remove the excess napkin but I just don't like doing that so
I sanded them.
After they were all sanded down I applied a layer of Mod Podge to the top of the napkin
and dried that.
Next I'm taking some spackling and filling in just two of the holes on the wall shelf.
Just the two on the longer side.
The other two I will be using to put in a hanger.
I used my heat tool to dry the spackling and then sanded that down.
I then painted the entire thing with plaster color chalk paint.
Once that was dry I used some masking tape and taped off about a quarter inch on the
longer side of the shelf and painted that with moss color chalk paint.
I then did the same thing to the other side opposite this one.
Next I placed down my letters just eyeballing it at first to get my spacing.
Then take tacky glue and brush that on the back of each of the letters.
You can use hot glue.
I just find with smaller pieces the glue will just push out when you press the letters down
so I like using the tacky glue.
It works really well.
And this way I can move and adjust them a tiny bit as needed before that glue dries.
And then place down a square and get those lined up straight.
I can use my heat tool to make sure that is dry and then cut this piece of paper covered
wire and loop it from the back to the front and twist it with some needle nose pliers
so it doesn't pull through that hole.
Then do the same thing on the other side.
And that is it for this project.
Thank you so much for watching.
