David’s Been Here is touring Malaysia in search of all the best destinations and top accommodation options. In this clip, David takes us to the Lakehouse Hotel in the Cameron Highlands about 220 kilometers outside of Kuala Lumpur. Built and decorated in a traditional British colonial fashion, the Lakehouse has 19 spacious rooms, a restaurant on site, a daily afternoon tea (complementary) and some fantastic hospitality. Visitors to the highlands can enjoy touring the tea plantations, various local farms, forest trails and museums or just relaxing in the cool, lush green settings. For whatever reason you’ve visited, do yourself a favor and stay at the Lakehouse, the Cameron Highlands top accommodation option.

We're staying at the best hotel in the Cameroon Highlands.
It's called the Lake House.
The hotel was built in 1966 by a British officer and it has 19 rooms.
As you can see it was built in a very traditional British style.
The decor and architecture are very old school and between 3 and 5.30pm guests can experience
traditional tea time complimentary.
This is something you have to experience because we're in the tea capital of Malaysia.
Now check out the Lake House.
Hi my name is Lina.
I'm the hotel manager of the Lake House Cameroon Highlands.
We are a 19 room boutique hotel and we're located in Cameroon Highlands which is about
220km away from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It's a very relaxing place, I think it's a very unique hotel, very different, it's small
and you have the opportunity to meet and know the guests who stay here.
It's a good place to relax and practically do nothing.
So basically you can start with visitors who come here, normally if you've never been here
they like to go and visit the tea plantations.
There are two tea plantations located in the highlands.
One is Bo Tea which is a bigger brand that is very well known for their teas and the
other one is Cameron Valley or also known as Bharat Tea.
Other things that the visitors usually do would be to visit the Mossy Forest which is
a trail through the jungles and also do some strawberry picking at the strawberry farms.
You can also visit some bee farms to see honey, how they are collected and you can also visit
a butterfly farm and there's also a time tunnel which is more like a museum where you can
go through different eras and how things are set up.
Here at the hotel we have one restaurant where we serve western and also local but we are
very well known for our afternoon tea or rather tea and scones which is very English.
It goes very well with the concept of the hotel.
And we also have a steamboat, steamboat is very famous in the highlands and it's basically
something similar to a hot pot where you are served in a pot, a pot is served with chicken
broth and Tom Yum spicy broth.
So you also have local grown vegetables, fresh and some meat, seafood which you put it into
the pot of boiling broth and then you eat from there.
It's a very nice experience especially to eat that on the terrace in the evenings.
So the next time if you are visiting Malaysia whether you are visiting KL or Penang or even
Singapore it's a very easy drive or flight to get to Cameron Highlands and you can just
spend one night here and experience the hospitality we have for you and if you don't know how
to get here you can just contact the hotel directly and we look forward to seeing you
here.
Thank you.
