SLED DOGS and CURIOUS ELK

Morning Oakley! Morning Cuddlebug! Flattier Cuddlebug! Morning Shelby! You girls gonna be good for a little bit? Yeah? We're gonna drive across the state and see some sled dogs. How's that sound? You girls are gonna hang out here for a little bit. You won't be gone too long. You'll just end up going to sleep anyway. You will! You will! Can I pet Oakley? Can I? Can I pet Oakley? Can you give Shelby some pets? Alright! We'll be back in a little bit. We made it! I slept almost all the way over here. Did you? You didn't sleep? I didn't really sleep. I slept almost all the way over here. I don't know why I was so tired. It's only like two hours to get here. But we made it with ten minutes to spare. We're gonna get all our stuff ready. We're gonna head over there to hopefully get some photos of some teams. The trails literally right in front of us. In front of us. The snow machines that had the spotters. Just went by. We're gonna walk down this trail a little bit. And hopefully get some of the ten dog teams that are gonna be coming real quick here. We made it! A little cold? Yeah, it's a little cold. It's not too bad. We're at the spot we're normally at when we come to Winterfest. We like standing out here. Away from the beginning. You can kind of see the dogs as they come around this corner. This is where we chose to stand. I have the GoPro on this side of the trail. But because of where the sun is, I might move it to the other side of the trail. But we're gonna at least wait until one team goes by. I think. I got it sitting down there. We'll see. They should be coming any minute. It's ten o'clock right now. Nice trail. Is it warmer over there? Yeah? You found a pretty good little hole. Tell me you're sitting down. You're not standing, are you really? Really? That's a considerable hole. I can just barely hear the dog yard. It's over there. We found out that the race, they actually changed the times today because the trail was so hard. So they're actually racing an hour later than they had planned. So as much as we thought we were here with ten minutes to spare, we were actually here with an hour and ten minutes to spare. Which also means we aren't gonna stay as long because we have to get back home to our dogs. So we're probably gonna stay for the ten dog and then we're probably gonna head over there and walk around the dog yard a bit and then we'll probably go home. Because we gotta get back home to our dogs. Do you have a good spot there? I do. You can see how deep the snow is. Yeah. And you're not even to the ground. I'm on the branch. So they should be coming any minute. It does say ten dog unlimited. So maybe they'll be big long teams. I don't know. We haven't been here in a couple years. We didn't come last year and I don't think we came the year before. So I think it's been at least two years since we've been here. But we came here one time and we saw a team of like 22 or 24 dogs. It was years ago. We're gonna get ready cause they should be coming any minute. Here's proof that Shelby's not the only dog that does this. Are you driving? See? It's not just Shelby. Hey big lady. There's some little fallow deer over there too. See the little white deer? Look at that big one. Oh goodness. They're just bathing in the sun. Yeah? Does it smell good? Munchy munchy munchy. You're really interested in what's going on aren't you? You're like hey I kind of like you. That one's got a broken antler over there. The other one still got his whole rack. I think this one's a girl. Yeah he's like or she. I think it's a girl. Yeah it's a girl. She doesn't even have little nubbies. She's like hmm. She's big. Oh this little baby is coming to check it out too. Look at him sniffing. Look at how little this one is. Little little babies. Oh here comes another big one back over there. This one was coming to check you out. That white one's beautiful. Little spotty one. I think that's a fallow deer too though. That's a male fallow deer. Yeah cause he's got antlers. Yeah he's spotty. Yeah cause he's got antlers. Yeah they're loving the sun. Here get some more pictures. We had to stop and see the elk. Cause they're just cool. And the sun was out. Yeah it was evidently bright. I think there's probably more on the other side but we came to check out these ones cause we could get close. As soon as we pulled in there was nobody there and now there's like five cars back there. Look here comes another car. Everybody going to see the elk. Alright you guys here's Gaylord's ice tree. Wow. Bigger than ours but it's definitely melted quite a bit. It was warm the past couple days so it's not as big as it has been. The water's coming out of the top of it though so they're still trying to freeze theirs. Yeah it's still freezing at night. It's not as big as it was that one year. Yeah they're trying. And there's the sugar bowl. The restaurant that I forgot to show you the outside of. That's it right there. That's the sugar bowl. Since 1919. Yep. And we're in downtown Gaylord. We should go to Tree Tops and go, we should go extreme tubing! Maybe not today. So we're trying the Lays fiery roasted habanero chips. Yeah for the first time. Was it as good as the pepper you had in the pickles the other day? Um, oh yeah cause that was habanero right? I don't know what it was. It was hot though. Yeah. This has got a good heat. I guess they're doing this flavor swap thing. They're either going to keep these or they're going to keep the um the Flamin' Hot Lays. I haven't had those in forever. I thought it was a different one. No it's either between this or the Flamin' Hot. It even says on the bag. These are the fiery habanero. We didn't try the Flamin' Hot did we? A long time ago. I didn't like it though. They're... They do but I don't like the flavor. Yeah. They're interesting. Reminds me of uh those shoestring potatoes. The fiery shoestring potatoes. Hot fries. I like hot fries. But I like the texture of hot fries. I'm not sure I like those. They're not bad. They got spice in them. They do. They leave that mouth burn. I just let the dogs outside. Look at all of their snow you guys. It's all melting and turning into nastiness. Nastiness. What's going on out here? What are you doing? What's so exciting over here in the corner? You're all digging at something over here in the corner. Oh it's crunchy snow! Crunchy snow! Whoa! Whoa! What are you doing? Oh look! Even Oakley's digging. We just made some dog pretzels and somebody's helping clean up the table. Good job Memphis! Greg's over here trying all the foods he missed out on in the mitten crate. Are you still eating them habanero chips? Yeah? Good stuff? Honey, you have to get down so I can wash the table. Which is pointless, cause you're just gonna get back up there again. No, you're waiting for your own cookies. Look! Doggy pretzels! They turned out pretty cute. They already tried one and they liked them. Here's a little save money hack for you. Some of you probably already know this. If you ever go to the store, a lot of times you can find meat in sale in bulk. Today they had boneless, skinless chicken breast on sale and it was only $1.67 a pound. Which is pretty cheap for chicken. What I usually do is, I'll buy the family pack. You get the big pack and you get all the chicken and then I'll bag it. Usually I'll do one bag with a couple of minutes. If I'm gonna make something in the crock pot, I'll use this bag. Then I individually bag all the rest of them. I write what's on them and I put the date on them so I know when they went in the freezer. Look! We have chicken for a whole bunch of meals. It was super cheap. I also got pork loin too and it was super cheap. Just a life tip I guess. I think the pretzels are a win. Was it good? You think it's delicious? Memphis is eating hers. Oakley kept hers in the kitchen. I think they liked them. Alright! We ended up watching... What did we watch Shelby? Avengers Age of Ultron. Had some dinner. Watched that movie. Now we're going to bed. It's been a long day. Hey baby! You don't have to get up. I was just telling the Pawdience good night. You're fine! You don't have to get up. You're good! There you go!
