A British Mother And Son'S Qingming Festival Outing Was Stunning! And The Chinese Girl'S Hanfu Was Absolutely Gorgeous!

Mum, it's currently Qingming Festival in China and I've got a really special video prepped for us today all related to Qingming Festival that also includes a special surprise for you a Chinese food and Chinese drink special something that I know you've never tasted before not only that we've got a really special performance video called Chun Hao Jin Qingming which is inspired by China's most famous handscroll painting when I looked it up on Wikipedia it said that is called along the river during Qingming Festival so this painting mum is incredible firstly because it was painted in the Song dynasty which was nearly a thousand years ago not only that it is five meters long so can you imagine how long five meters is it's a handscroll painting that you can open up wow and the best thing about it is it shows the vibrant life of China at the time during Qingming Festival so as you're looking across the painting you get to see people from all walks of life celebrating Qingming Festival I can't wait to see it so the video that we're going to be watching today is inspired by that and I think you can really see that in the video yay ah that mum is a loads of Chinese people it's about the start of spring coming below trees dancing you can see that it's bright and clear and spring's starting it's all green yeah all the flowers have blossomed definitely spring has come oh there was some lovely Song dynasty hanfu there like I say if you remember the painting it's all about people enjoying the festive oh my gosh did you see him we're gonna have to watch that again oh my god he's jumping on his head right then mum first surprise of the video I've got some delicious food prepared for you wait one moment right mum for our first food tasting session I have got us some Qingduan which is a glutinous rice ball that people eat at Qingming Festival glutinous not glutinous a glutinous rice ball that people eat at Qingming Festival and these have been freshly made for us just yesterday by one of my Chinese friends oh what a surprise so normally they are made out of and we saw this in the video from Chinese mugwort mum called Aitao which gave them their very special and distinct green flavor now I have never tried one of these before you've never tried one of these before so shall we have a taste for our first time and give our viewers our opinions on them yeah right then mum are you ready for our first taste of Qingduan let's give it a go very thick and sticky on the outside oh that's nice no you can have different flavors you can have salty you have sweet I chose sweet for us oh that is sweet but it's not too sweet oh it's delicious now what I find fascinating about this is people have been eating these for thousands of years thousands of years so they're in the painting they're in the video that we watched today people have been eating them on Qingming Day for so long so it's like we're having a taste of history I'm gonna have another bite one minute 37 seconds later did you hear that mum just said oh that's lovely can I have the last bit normally it's me that's eating it right then mum so that was our first culinary surprise but don't forget we've got another one coming up so keep watching how's it going for tea I'm making some tea time for our second surprise mum which is I have prepared for us some Chinese tea and some English tea and we're going to do a taste comparison how does that sound that sounds tasty cheers mum right then so we've got our English tea so let's have a mouthful of that first and I've also got prepped for us some jasmine tea that we've just made look at these beautiful bowls I think the flavor is more deep on that this is such a deep yeah but delicate little cleansing a very very cleansing to the palate now obviously the main difference is we do put milk in our tea and that's quite a big element of it yeah it's very nice isn't it tug of war we had a bit of tug of war over the last bit of that team plan didn't we it's gonna be the last bit probably a bit tired now some refreshment playing a bit of football playing some ball sports that oh skills skills god these guys are much better than I am I can play a little bit of football but I absolutely cannot ride horses oh they're off to make a kite they're kites they're gorgeous skilled craftsmen very green I don't know if they fly this type of kite though and you'll know what I mean in a second what do you reckon mum we'll go outside and fly you that's not one of the other surprises is it yes mum and the third surprise we've got today and having drunk some teas we're going to go outside and fly you that's like all our neighbours when they see you flying it's a great performance video yeah it really was and being able to eat qing huan and have some chinese and british tea during it was great fun wasn't it yeah that was a nice surprise thank you no problem I really want to go see I looked up online and apparently it's only shown very infrequently it's obviously super important in chinese culture but it's held at the forbidden palace so one day next time it's exhibited if we could go and see this five meter long hand
