David's Been Here is on its way from Lake Malawi to the Nkhotakota Game Reserve, where David visits some local sites and learns some historical/cultural facts about the area. First, visiting the Kande Horse Ranch, David meets the owner Johnny who gives some information about tours and staying at Kande Ranch- one of Africa's best horse farms. After moving on and learning some cultural facts about the area, David and crew move into the Nkhotakota Game Reserve, where they'll be staying at the Tongole Wilderness Lodge. Located in the center of Malawi's largest game reserve, tour through the stunning chalets of this luxurious lodge as David films the interior, exterior and the breathtaking views from Tongole. Hello everyone, it's day 8 here in Malawi and we're leaving Makuzi Beach right now and we're
headed south to Nkotakote Game Reserve.
We're staying at Tungole Hotel and on the way down we're going to stop at the best horse
farm in Africa and Johnny, the owner, is going to talk to us about the stables and the 28
different horses that they have.

We're located 50km south of Nkada Bay on the Lakeshore Road.
We're about 4km from the Lakeshore itself.
We do everything from, we can take small children on supervised forest rides.
We can take small children on supervised forest rides, we can do as little as a 1 hour forest
ride for adults, then we do 2 and 3 hour rides that will take you down to the lake and you
can ride your horse into the waters of Lake Malawi bareback.
We also have accommodation here if you want to come and do a 2 or 3 day package, also
possible.
So in Nkotakote this region was a big hub for the slave trade during the earlier years
and it's become a very Muslim area for Malawi because in the old days when they were capturing
these slaves, if they turned to Islam and became Muslims, they weren't allowed to be
captured as slaves.
So there's a great big population of Muslims in the area here as this was the hub for slave
capture in the earlier years.
