Youre already enough a slow living escape to the jungle

I need you to come with me today because I'm a little nervous. I'm waiting for my friend Cami
and we are going to travel somewhere that neither of us has ever been to before
but I do want to get out of my comfort zone so come with me.
Far to the north and by the mountains there is a land that is wilder than any I've ever seen.
As we traveled over very bumpy roads of red earth to get there I could already feel it.
In the vast windswept sky, in the dense green vegetation and in the song of thousands and
thousands of birds. So we just arrived at the cabin in the jungle and everything is so lush
and feels so alive. Lately I've been struggling with feeling like I'm never good enough,
never do things well enough and like I need to push myself harder and harder to get anywhere.
There is a voice in my head that tells me I need to achieve perfection to be worthy
and even though I know that that isn't right and that I am being more unkind to myself than I ever
would be to another person, it's still really hard to root out that belief. When I decided to
come to this strange and new place I was looking for something like a change of perspective.
Everything in our society rewards productivity and efficiency and if we don't take care
over time our life can start to feel very automatic. And at the core of the human society
we live in right now there is a belief that there aren't enough good things in the world for
everyone, that somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. And if we believe that there isn't
enough in the world for all of us to be happy it makes sense that we would feel we are not
deserving of it, that we are not enough. But being here in this vast wild abundant place I think I'm
starting to question that. It is a beautiful swelteringly hot day and we set out with our
local guide to explore the jungle and feel what true natural abundance is like. Here cattle roams
free, there are strange calls from birds we can't see and if you look closely you'll realize there
are butterflies everywhere. As the summer day grew hotter and hotter we took shelter under
a canopy of very green trees and we decided to go looking for the river that we could see in the
distance. Being here so far from a city and with no cell phone signal it's easier to feel less like
an isolated human and more like part of the wide net of nature and all its beings. That was very scary
and she's just chilling. Every time I go on a hike to visit a river and I start hearing the sounds
getting closer I get so excited and if you know me you know that I am definitely a water
kind of person and I will never pass up a chance to get swimming. And every time the water helps
me quiet the chatter of my mind and as the river holds me and the ancient rocks are by my side I
realize that not me, not any other human is the center of the world. We're all just a little animal
on a hurtling green rock in a mysterious universe and we are all also part of the ancient and sacred
cycle of life. When we first arrived here I said I love the silence and one of the people from this
looked at me and asked me what silence? And I realized that what I meant was that there were
no sounds of human civilization but nature was incredibly rich in the fullness of her song.
I'm starting to realize that when we are so focused on being enough and doing enough we just
end up trapped in the cycle of never being truly present, never truly experiencing the abundance
of our lives in full. That's so cute. I've been trying to slow down to truly be here. I feel like
so often in life we're like removed from ourselves and sort of looking at our experiences like
from the outside and not truly taking the time to ground into the here and the now and
the land itself. I feel like this is such an incredible place to do that. If we really take
the time to be here, to slow down, to I don't know maybe like to meditate or just put your
bare feet on the earth, any place is really a good place because we're all on this beautiful
incredible earth. There is nothing more rewarding than simply paying attention to nature and to the
nowness of things. And it's also what I feel brings true abundance because it's not wealth,
it's not about owning lots of things but about a feeling of flow, a feeling of being held by
the earth and being safe. And I think we can access that if we truly pay attention from anywhere.
Sometimes you just need to allow yourself a moment of silence, of quiet to
enjoy the abundance and truly feel held by the earth.
Allowing ourselves to truly be here is kind of a magical portal when I feel the dappled sun
on my skin and I smell the sense of jungle and I can sense the textures of the soil under my feet.
I realize that we are only not enough when we look at ourselves through the lens of human greed
and productivity culture. No one would think of telling an ancient tree or a colorful
jungle bird that it isn't enough. The antidote is to allow ourselves to be
whimsical, to be here, to feel our bodies and the joy that it means to be a part of this beautiful
living world. That's so good. This is the freshest, juiciest mango I've ever tasted.
I want to be like the soil which trusts the rain when it tells it that good things are going to come.
If the way we perceive the world truly shapes our experience of it, I want to replace the feeling of
scarcity, of not-enoughness, with the knowledge that all is abandoned and connected and the world
is so much deeper and wilder and more magical than we've been taught to believe. I think if we plant
the seeds of this belief within ourselves, if we find the time to just stand here and be blessed,
we will find an abandoned, deeply enough life together. Thank you so much for watching. I hope
you'll subscribe to my channel and join me on my next adventure traveling to a witchy
island at the edge of the world.
