Lions Have Fun In The Water | The Lion Whisperer

Look at you, you crazy cat. That's delicious, eh? Right, good morning everyone. Today I'm going to be taking the six lions out on a walk, that's Thor's group. The purpose of the walk today really is just to let the lions have some fun. The other purpose is for me to take some nice still pictures. Who wants to go walking? Oh my goodness gracious me, oh my goodness gracious me, what's happening? What's happening guys? I'm sure you are unfit, Nej. I can hear you breathing a mile away. I don't know if you saw there, what's really interesting is the breathing. So the tongue going backwards and forwards in the mouth, pulsating or pumping. And basically that's how she's losing heat, through the mouth. So they don't have sweat glands guys, not like us. And we will sweat and the breeze will blow on our skin, cool us down. As the air currents blow on our skin and it evaporates, cools us down. They don't have that, so how do they lose heat? They lose it through their mouth and they lose it through their paws. So you'll often see in a track, here come the two boys, also having fun. So you'll often see in a track of a lion if it's a dry patch of sand. And if you have just caught the lion, you'll see that the sand has moisture on it or you can see the way the moisture has formed in the sand. And then you can see if a lion was sweating. It could have been, it can be nervous sweat or it could be sweat obviously because heat build up through energy expenditure. So there's a lot you can tell from a track. If you're an expert, a master tracker, I'm not, by no means am I a master tracker. And so these little subtleties of an individual who can track will be able to tell you all these telltale signs about the track of a lion. They will be able to tell you how fresh it is, whether the lion was walking, running, sweating. All of these little female, male, really, really incredible. Somebody is getting lovely smells all over. That's nice. That's one of the best parts of walking. Sniff, sniff, sniff. Oh, I can smell it from here. It's so divine. Oh, that's delicious. Everyone is having fun. I'm also having fun by the way. It's a good exercise. It's good to just see the lions out and about doing whatever they want to do. The boys are clawing the trees, marking the bushes. The girls are running like lunatics, jumping on each other, chasing anything that moves, even sticks in bushes. And it's just good fun. Good fun for everyone. And then like that, they'll all be lying under a tree somewhere thinking about the morning and how wonderful it's been. And that's, that's cool. It doesn't need to last long. It's not, it doesn't last forever. It's an hour, hour and a half. And then, and then it's over. They're tired. Hey Neji, Peji. Okay. Maybe Neji isn't tired. Neji's still got energy. Somebody apple and tarted. That's a lion, not any other animal. Very distinctive smell. When a lion farts, it's very distinctive. The smell of, of meat. That is a entirely meat diet. Has a very distinctive smell. Hard to describe. Very hard to describe. Not pleasant. I'm so sorry I missed that. Lions are running through the water. Oh my gosh. I need a zoom lens on this camera. Let's move here, move here. Out the way. Come on. Unless you're going to do something. They are having such fun in this water. And Charlie's not sure what's going down here. But you can see somebody's been running in the mud. Look at you. Look at you, you crazy cat. Absolutely loving the water. Don't come push me in. No, I'm sitting on the ledge here my girl. I'm on the ledge in the mud. Why don't you do a running, a running dive into the water here. There's the water there. Nice little water away here. Lions love it here. Mr. Big. Are you also going to come swim? He's got more important things to do than to be goofy. There's one way to cool down. Very quick way to cool down. So panting is one way to cool down. Dirty lion. So panting is one way to cool down. Another is to jump in the water, jump in the lake. Now she's got a second wind, definitely. Moulin Rouge is going for round two. Slam dunk in the mud. I need to get there. Sorry about the camera shadows guys, but I don't have any alternative. Nothing I can do. Move there. Hello. Are you going to go in? Are you going to go in? What is that? Found some old rubbish that's washed down this river. No, oh man, that's just terrible to see. Guys, there is another example of plastic finding its way into these systems. That's just terrible to see. So that's a piece of plastic, black plastic bag that's found its way into this river system. Obviously washed down river when this river was flooding. And yeah, these lions just find anything that's not natural and kind of play with it. So she's really, really enjoying this water guys. Yeah, she's not scared of the water or the mud. She once was a white lion. I'm scared I'm going to fall off this bloody ledge in the water again. Okay, I'm going to try and get her from the other side. Sorry guys, I'm trying to get photos and video here. Okay, I think she's had enough of the river. So she's going to go and chill in the shade there. They're all chilling. So I think she's going to go and join them now. Enough fun in the pool. Look how dirty you are my girl. Yeah, you used to be a white lion. You're trying to camouflage. Bloody camera. Camera shadows. Okay, today is really a video about Nezh. Because now Nezh has found the burrow. Now she's lost interest. She found this burrow and she was wanting to go in, but I think she's a little bit nervous what she might find on the other side. Nezh, you've been very, very up to mischief today, huh? Spider webs. Spider webs. She just does not want to leave this river alone. Oh man, more blackjacks. Spider webs. Come Gilly, let's go this way. Come. They still have energy. Unbelievable. So who would have thought that this river bed drying up would be the venue for so much entertainment for these lions. She's hiding behind the rock there. This is so awesome to see. Try and get a picture. Naughty Nezh. She has had so much fun today. Thank you Nezh. She's going to pose for me. Insane. Like little kids. Stuck in the mud. Right, I think it's time to go home. I'm going to start heading back to home. Dirty cat. Come this way. Oh, let's go. Yesterday. The mad cat. So at least it's a bit of a slower pace to walk back, but yet again, I'm not allowed to lead. At least they're not jumping on me today. So that's a, that's a plus because the kind of energy that they've got and all of them being full of mud wouldn't really end well. You can just visually see how content and happy they all look. If they had human facial expressions, they'd all be smiling. In fact, I think you are smiling. Hey guys. Yeah. Yeah. But you're all so tired that it doesn't take long before I overtake you. Hey, you got your little bursts of energy. Little, little bursts of energy and then they, then they get tired. Are you going to go trundle through the bush? Oh no, man. Okay. I'm going to, I'm going to stick to the road. See you on the other side. She doesn't realize there's road hooks around. So I'm going to take the shortcut somewhere over there. It's incredible how quiet a lion can be when it needs to be and how noisy when it's having fun. All right guys.
