Sometime after Susan was diagnosed with Parkinson's, Dr Joe's book, You Are the Placebo, mysteriously appeared in the mail. She ended up reading it and began meditating every day. Susan's conditioned improved...until she sustained a head injury right before heading to Cancun for the Week Long Advanced Retreat in 2018. +

I have a Parkinson's diagnosis that was complicated by a brain injury that happened during physical therapy.
We were in Slovenia for a month. We stopped the mail.
We came home and, you know how you go through and sort the mail?
Well, there was this package from Amazon. We opened it up and there was a book inside.
I was like, did you order this book?
My husband, no. You ordered that book? No.
It was a really odd title. It was called, You are the Placebo.
Hey, my future self is pretty good, huh?
I thought, You are the Placebo? Huh. Interesting title. Set it aside.
And then I just thumbed through it because, you know, you need to know what to recycle.
Hey, she didn't order the book.
No. It came from my future self, I think.
Anyway, I flipped through and fortunately in one of the first couple of pages, I saw the P word, Parkinson's.
And so I read the whole sentence and it says something about a woman who is cured.
Well, now that got my attention.
Especially if you have Parkinson's. Yeah.
So I read this book and it was fascinating.
So I kept reading it and I went to my naturopath because immediately upon being diagnosed, I got myself a naturopath.
And I said, you know, I'm reading this book called, You are the Placebo.
And I think it's leading to meditation and I have no time for that.
And she said, oh, Susan, that would be really good for you.
I decided that I would start meditating.
I did it as like three times a week or so.
And one day I was walking across the yard and someone in the neighborhood was mowing their lawn.
And Parkinson's, one of the things you do is you lose your sense of smell.
And I didn't have any clue that I lost my sense of smell.
Except all of a sudden, oh, my gosh, it was fresh grass.
Now, this is the stuff on the ground, you guys.
But I could smell it.
And I did a little happy hop right there in the yard because I had no idea that I regained my sense of smell.
And then, oh, a week or so later, you know when you slide your feet into shoes?
Well, this one didn't go into the shoe by itself.
You had to sit down and, you know, fix it and do all this stuff for the shoe.
And so one day I was putting my shoes on and I just went, plomp, plomp.
And I went, oh, that was number two.
I keep meditating.
Then I was showing someone, so my hands, one hand, I can't do it with a thing,
but one hand was this way and the other hand was like this way.
And I was showing someone the difference, except they were both going the same speed.
But, you guys, I cured my hand.
I was so ecstatic after I did Tampa.
I was 98% healed on the walking meditation.
Blew me away.
It was amazing.
And so I went to Dr. Krobe for my yearly now.
And he said, you know, you have a progressive disease.
It has not progressed, so just keep doing what you're doing.
Okay.
And then in the middle we went to Oregon Coast.
And I had a pedicure and passed out from the heat of the pedicure.
I was dehydrated.
So I was thrown in an ambulance and jostled around again.
So all the damage was worse.
And by the time I started healing that, it was almost time to come here.
And I didn't get clearance until like the last minute to be able to fly on the airplane.
But I wanted to come to Cancun because it just seemed really important.
It was hard for her to be here.
Very hard for her to be here, to find a chair that she could sit in for that number of hours on the plane.
To think about, you know, all the preparation and all of the work that went into that.
And so we got here and did our best to make her as comfortable as we could.
And she was anticipating something big and was ready.
But it was not easy for her to get around.
And it was hard for her to stand up straight.
She clearly couldn't.
We didn't do some of the stuff we used to do, which was fine.
But I knew that's not what she wanted.
She wanted to be more like what she was able to do physically.
I was so used to being a basket case with the brain injury that I thought I was doing fine.
It wasn't until after the healing that my teammates on my team came up to me and said,
we had no idea who was on the stage.
Because for them, I wondered why they kept always wanting to help me.
Oh, they were so good to me.
They would, you know, can I carry this for you?
Can I do this for you?
They're a fabulous support team.
And I thought maybe it was because I'm 72 and that they were just being nice to Grandma.
But actually, apparently, one of the people that I sat next to a lot said,
you know, you were very slow when you talked and very soft.
And then sometimes your sentences didn't make sense.
And you kind of shuffled when you walked.
And I said, are you joking?
I thought I was doing okay.
But then when I had the healing, which was not supposed to happen,
we got into our circle didn't have anyone in it.
And so the woman in charge said, would you like to be healed?
I said, yes, thank you very much. I'd like that.
And so it was this group.
We had been together a long time getting ready to be the last ones in.
And so I felt kind of connected to them.
And it was interesting.
They have come up and found me to tell me what it was like for them.
There was so much power among that particular group of people.
And they said it was just flying out of me.
So it was like a cauldron of all this beautiful power
that I was like, it was the most amazing experience.
I could have just stayed there.
It would be like if you were in perfection.
And you were just there.
I could hear them, but everything was just, it was lovely.
And so then they had to go.
And two people stayed to kind of make sure I was okay
When I got the message that said, could you come to the ballroom,
I knew something had happened.
And I didn't know whether there was going to be an ambulance there or what.
And so I saw Susan joyful, exuberant, and happy.
And then she did some dancing.
And Susan has always been a dancer,
but it's been hard the last 4, 5, 6 years.
So it was amazing to see how that had changed.
But the most amazing thing was, she was surprised,
but I think even more she was grateful
that she was able to do what she wanted to do.
I slowly came back.
In fact, at one point I was so heavenly
in this state of, well, of bliss,
that someone finally whispered in my ear and touched my cheek and said,
Susan, are you coming back?
I said, uh-huh.
My body just felt heavy and happy.
And so then I did come back.
And I got up and said, let me help you.
I said, no, I can do this.
And I stood up and I thought, oh, I feel just great.
Look at me.
My bent arm is straight.
I can put it up straight like this
because I have a shoulder injury that apparently was also healed,
a rotator cuff.
And I couldn't lift my hand higher than this.
Wahoo!
Look at that.
It's so exciting.
Anyway, the first thing I did was,
because most people were gone,
I went out in the lobby area out in front of where we were meeting
and just ran like people run.
I couldn't even lift my feet to jump when we were doing the dancing.
So I'm running around.
And then I was boogying.
I was just shaking.
I was like I was reborn.
It was so exciting.
And in fact, the two people that stayed said,
you look just like a baby.
Everything was fresh and new and wonderful.
Where is Susan's group?
Over there?
Now you saw her.
You saw her when she started this event.
And we could say like a dimmer switch,
life force was turned down.
Parkinson's slows down life force in the body.
So movements are slow.
Expressions are slow.
Body is struggling.
And many times people with Parkinson's,
they're not even aware that they have certain symptoms
because they can't feel that much.
There's a lot that's turned down.
So this woman is excited because she can express herself.
Do you understand what I'm talking about?
Am I right?
Like she came back to life.
She was in the womb.
She was in the egg.
She was getting ready to be born again.
She's come back to life.
And she can't typically tell a story
with that much amount of exuberance
and that much amount of animation
and that much amount of expression and freedom
as she did today.
So she's been on a journey.
And by coincidence,
she gets a book in the mail out of nowhere.
And she goes on this journey.
And God bless her
because she didn't always accept, believe, and surrender
to information without analysis.
And so the healing yesterday,
the profound energy,
the way she described it in the original thing that I read
was that she felt it in her body
move all the way up into her brain
and then felt it move from her brain
all the way down to her legs
and to the bottoms of her feet
like an electric charge.
That frequency then is animating the nervous system.
It's lighting it up, as we say.
And all of a sudden now,
the change in the frequency of the nervous system,
those microtubules,
they're the cellular structure of every cell.
Microtubules start vibrating at a faster frequency.
And now the nervous system can process
a greater energy, a greater frequency.
And anything that's incoherent or out of balance
begins to change.
And we could say that certain genes upregulate
to express a greater level of health
and certain genes downregulate to express the disease.
And all of a sudden, you see a change like that.
So she's happy because she's more awake.
She's more in her body.
She's more alive.
I was healed.
Sorry.
No, no, no, babe.
It's your moment.
I want you to remember this for the rest of your life.
