Ultimate Survival Technologies "Sparkie" Fire Starter

The ultimate survival technology is Sparky. This is the same company that makes the Blast Match. This utilizes a magnesium fire starting just like the Swedish fire steels, but you can do it with one hand and that's one of the downsides about a fire steel is you've got to have a striker. This has a built-in striker. In fact, this release button releases the flint itself or the magnesium rod and then you have your striker here so you just press in. You can put this down at a 90 or a 75 degree angle and you instantly have fire starting capabilities. A lot better than a lighter that can just run out of fuel and then too sometimes just be hard to light. Then of course the old matches, well we know how that goes. It does have a complete rubberized coating on it so even in the elements it gives you something to hold on to. It's very comfortable in the hand as well. Now if you don't have a hard surface like this you can actually use your finger pushing on the striker and this releases that magnesium. Now this rod after a while because the striker is on one side if you continue to use it it'll wear it down, but this is able to turn. As you can see just turn this and keep it turned and that way you'll have a lot of life out of your Sparky. Now you do have a little lanyard hole right here to be able to put a key ring or even a lanyard obviously through here to be able to attach this to your gear to keep from losing it. It does come in a lot of different colors this outside coating. The sky's the limit. It's only two and a quarter inches in length. It's about an inch wide and it's a half inch in width so it's really small. Weighs 0.8 ounces so weighs just under an ounce. Very lightweight, but if you're ever injured and you're hurt and you need to have a fire you can do it with just the one hand. Here we have a little dryer lint and it lights up in seconds. It really if in fact if you had some cotton balls with some Vaseline or even the wet fire fire starter which they recommend it's really easy to get a fire started.
