We invested huge in this 52 carat opal and we're about to find out if it pays off.
Watch the video to find out how you can win your very own opal.
Let's get the opal weighed in and the opal weighs 52.89 carats.
Hello everyone from around the world I am Robert from Global Prospecting and we cut
opals from all around the world and today we are cutting this 52.89 carat
beauty from Coober Pedy, Australia and later on in the video we are giving away a beautiful opal
so stay tuned and find out how you can win an amazing opal. So let's get into the opal cutting
here and the first thing we're going to do is we're going around the opal and we're going to
take off all the skin and we're hoping to get a few stones out of this opal so the color is kind
of banded and it is a vertical bar so we're hoping that we can slice it up a little bit and
capture the color maybe get two or three stones one larger size one. I really need a long
teardrop so hopefully we can get that out of this stone. We're just working around the outside of
the opal right now we're going to try to get all this sand and potch out of the stone and it'll
give us a better then we'll take the top down and it'll give us a better idea of where we can slice
the stone to capture the color that we're going to use. It's got some beautiful colors
right in that little corner there if you can see if we can get the whole stone to look like that
it's going to be absolutely amazing so I'm going to take some of the top off here
and see if we can get there we get a little bit of a divot in the color bar
let's keep working the face down here and see if we can see anything better.
This is the stone uncut you can see the beautiful color up in the corner there
so my plan is to try to capture that vertical bar there I don't know how deep it goes in yet
we're going to be working on that and I believe we've got a couple other spots of color
but once we work it down we'll be able to find out and see exactly where we're going to slice
this stone you can see it has quite a bit of a quite a bit of potch on it right now
and as we work that down we'll get a better picture of what we need to do.
Okay this is showing us quite a bit here we can see that we have two color bars running through
two vertical color bars it should be pretty easy to get those colors out of there but I'm
going to continue to work it down a little bit and then we'll get on the slicing machine
and see if we can capture them though this will be a test here as we go down
we'll take some of the back off here work the sand off here and this will give us a better idea
of what we're looking at looks like that sand goes in there pretty deep we'll keep
working it down we got plenty of stone to work with I'd like to get it more cleaned up
I think the further we go down the brighter the color should be
there's a little chip out of the corner here you can see that color's super bright so I'm
hoping that's down inside the opal and a little farther down in the bar and that we can capture
that and it'll be an amazing stone if we can do that there's a lot of bars swirling through this
opal but if we can get those two main bars we should be all set to get what we're looking for
we'll just take a little bit more off the face here and then uh we'll put her on the slicing
machine and we're probably gonna need to do two slices maybe three but I think two
probably where we'll get what we're what we're looking for and later on in the video we are
giving away an amazing opal this video and it is stunning wait till you guys see it
and we'll let you know exactly how to enter in to winning that beautiful opal
coming up a little bit later in the video all right look at the color in that chip
off the tip of that stone it's absolutely beautiful I'm hoping that as we go down
deeper that we definitely will have that color inside there I'm going to start working
it down a little bit because I'm not sure if this is going to be our face if we're going to use this
as the face or if we're going to use the top section it is a vertical bar so this may be our
face of the stone because like I said I think that if we go down deeper in the color it should get
uh brighter that's a good color right there I think that's going to be the face of our stone
okay let's try to take this divot out try to work that divot
that little indent out see what it looks like we'll just work it down slow
actually I think I'm just going to leave it there and then I might slice right off the tip there
I mean I might slice right at the end of it coming up okay I think we pretty much got what we want
um take off a little bit more here just clean it up a little bit more and then we'll
figure out how we're going to slice this and I believe this is going to be my face so
we'll use this as the face I think if we go down a little bit further we'll catch those oranges
and the blues and then we'll slice that little clip off right about there and see what happens
see if we can uh get a few stones out of this there may be some more color on the inside
and that'll that'll tell us a lot once we do the slice so let me let me mark it out and uh we'll
get on the the uh the saw slice it up so right about here we'll slice and we'll get that spot
right there out of there try to get catch it at a bit of an angle all right I got her marked out
and we'll put a slice right down this line I'm going to do it right on the edge of the line so
I can keep all the color I'm trying to save and let's see if we oh that's good perfect
I'll have a couple more stones in there and this one's got a nice face perfect
and this will be our second slice and we should be able to get three two smaller ones and one
large gemstone and I think I'll cut the other two on our next live let's take a good look at it
and I believe this is going to be our face here that'll be this will be our face and we're going
to make a nice free form drop shape should come out nice plenty of color it'll thin out a little
bit and then we'll make kind of uh not a uniform top we'll make it kind of uh kind of like an added
angle a rounded angle and this is our second and our third stone and we're going to cut these live
in our next live and we'll give these two stones away
we'll cut them into gems then we'll give them away to two lucky subscribers let's just finish
her up and get her on the dopping stick and get her pre-polished ready for the cerium oxide
I already got the dome on her um get the setting edge a little bit better and uh fix our dome a
little bit here is the beautiful opal that we are giving away this week got some beautiful colors
