A quiet spring day in the South of France.
The morning begins at home with baking a classic tarte aux fraises, filling the kitchen with the fresh scent of strawberries and pastry.
Later, we take a walk through a nearby village, enjoying the slow rhythm of the streets and stopping for a simple gelato in the sun.
Back home, the day continues with gardening on the terrace and small everyday tasks — cleaning, caring for the space, and preparing for the season.
As the light softens, we end the day on the terrace, watching the sunset and enjoying a quiet moment.
A simple day, full of small pleasures.
Thank you for being here 🤍
Hello everyone! How are you? I hope everything is good. Oh, we had rain last night with the sand
that comes from Sahara desert and everything is dirty. The laundry that I just made
is dirty. So, this morning I woke up with a strong feeling that
some cleaning have to be done today. We do have often the rain mixed with the sand
which cross all Mediterranean. Imagine it travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometers
to reach southern Europe. But now the weather is good, the birds are singing their songs
and it's still a school vacation. So, we're gonna go and visit sister village. So, our village
we don't see. We don't see from here our village. It's just there.
So dirty the car after that rain. Let's continue the beautiful road. Yes, we need to visit one
place in Saint-Agnès. The village is just next to our village. We are here because we need to
visit a bunker. I know it's very strange but I'll explain you later. In fact, during the school
vacation kids had to visit something that holds history. It is close for a lunch break and we do
have like a half an hour and we will walk inside the village and that way you have a
a viewpoint that we also will go later and we will eat ice cream in the cute restaurant.
So, here are three roads. One, two and one road that goes down.
This is basically what we have in our village. Like three or maybe four roads maximum and
our villages are very similar. It's in the same area and it's just on the next mountain.
There are lots of insects, lots of flowers. It is a very pleasant time.
I had already like a travel video about this village Saint-Agnès
that I made two years ago but nothing changed.
We just have a half an hour before the bunker is open after the lunch break so we will
just walk in the village for a bit.
I would say that Saint-Agnès is a remote village because it's a bit complicated to get here. You
have to take a bus from Montaigne and it is a highest coastal village in Europe. 800 meters
above the sea level just above Montaigne. So, you can imagine the views that we will see just later on
over the Mediterranean Sea. It's slightly more touristy than in our village. You do have here a
couple of souvenir shops and the restaurants are almost always full in the good weather at lunchtime.
Actually, it is famous between locals because there are great hikes around so you will
see like many people with the backpacks and sticks.
The weather is so beautiful even I have to do so many things at home but
during the day when the sun is high up you just want to go out because the nature around us it's
just like calling us go out from the house see the things around.
But also because it is a school vacation I think
if Matthew is in school I would stay home and clean all day just.
There are always good restaurants. You eat very good in the mountains. The menu
would not be full with the seafood like next to the sea but oh my god for example
here or the meats too are the best in the villages like this.
And now it's a time to go back in the past.
Okay, it is hard to believe that in such a beautiful village full of flowers and
birds singing there is a very big bunker from the second world war. It is very well maintained
because of the beautiful person who taking care of it and yes you can visit inside.
It's a guided tour in French.
This is really incredible to think of it how it is peaceful now and how it wasn't before
and we are very grateful for that. So you do have a viewpoint
basically from everywhere but you do have like a viewpoints and
you see Montaigne, Roquebrune and in this side and another side you see all the way
till the Italy. Today you don't see really a horizon between the sea and the sky very strange.
Well after all these emotions let's have a drink, a fresh drink and a gelato.
It is like a bar during the day but it is also a restaurant.
The view is stunning. You can have a dinner here in the season also.
I think it's Wednesday today you see even like during the week there are visitors.
The season has already started indeed. Now let's go back home because Chris gonna come back soon,
need to prepare a dinner and also I put the old laundry again in the machine. I'm gonna go back to
the daily routine after a quick break.
You wanna go by walk until home? Our village is just behind that mountain.
You can hike back to the home village but I found Matthew next to the car. Even it's not that far
but you drive very slowly because the road is very steep and narrow and at the same time you
enjoy the view. This is our village, looks pretty the same. We are back home. After I saw so many
flowers in Sant'Agnese I have only one thing in my head. Take care of my flowers and make it
better. The most precious moment of the day. So happy that I made a tarte aux fraises this morning.
The time before the sunset is one of my favorite. Same as the time before the sunrise, the golden
hour when the sun is very very soft and the nature is very quiet. Today was a good day. I'm grateful
for today and looking forward for tomorrow and I thank you to spend the day with us.
We love you all and see you very soon.
