Boys and girls, and welcome back to Graceful, where God's love is everywhere.
It's me, Pastor Anastasia, and I'm so super duper excited
that you've joined me today as we learn more about our best friend Jesus.
Today's special feature comes to us all the way from Turks and Caicos,
where my friend Joanna has prepared a beautiful song just for us. Let's listen in.
This little light of mine, let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine. Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine.
Everywhere I go, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Don't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine. Don't let Satan blow it out,
I'm gonna let it shine. Don't let Satan blow it out, I'm gonna let it shine. Let it shine,
let it shine, let it shine. Awesome! Boys and girls, remember, if you want to share your gifts
and talents for Jesus, please ask your parents or guardians to inbox me,
and I'd be happy to share it with our friends. Oh, hey! I was just on my way to Nature Time.
I can't wait to find out what we're gonna be learning about today with our friend Ryan from
Canada. It's always such an amazing treat. You never know who or what you're gonna meet. So,
come along with me. Hello, boys and girls, and welcome again to Nature Time at Graysville.
Today, we're gonna talk about some interesting facts about space. Let's tune in. A rocket needs
to travel 62 miles to orbit the Earth. It must also travel at an amazing speed of 17,600 miles
an hour. To go even deeper into space, it would need to travel over 24,000 miles an hour. Sound
cannot travel in space. Even if someone screams loudly, no one would hear them. This is why
astronauts need to use special radios to talk to each other. They also wear special suits that
help them breathe because there's not enough oxygen in outer space. Space suits also help
them keep warm because it is about minus 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The spacesuits trap the heat
that comes from the astronaut's body. When the astronaut begins to get cold, the spacesuit
returns that heat. Space is so big, we don't really know how far, wide, or deep it goes.
All scientists can talk about is what they can see, thanks to very powerful telescopes.
Job 26.7 says, God stretches the northern sky out over empty space and hangs the Earth on nothing.
Bye, boys and girls. Thanks for tuning in. See you next time. Now, that was fascinating. Well,
I wonder what Melissa is up to. It's just about the time to check in on her. Let's go. Ouch.
Melissa? Is that you? Pastor Anastasia, is that you? Help, I can't see anything. Thankfully,
I stopped by. You know, that's exactly why Jesus came to this world, to bring the light of hope
to all of us who are lost in the darkness of sin. And because of his light, in us, we can also
shine for him. Wait a minute. That reminds me of our theme for this week, which simply says,
shine for Jesus. Let me hear my friends say it. Shine for Jesus. And our memory verse is found
in Matthew 5 verse 16. And it simply says, let your light shine before others that they may see
your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. Let me hear my friends say it. Let your light
shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven. Matthew
5, 16. Great job, everyone. What light are you talking about? I have a flashlight. I can shine
that. Not that kind of light, Melissa. I'm talking about the light that enters our hearts when we let
Jesus in. It shines ever so brightly when we share the good news of God's love with others.
That's why today's story is about a man who let his light shine when he prepared the way for Jesus
by preaching and baptizing many. Can you guess who today's story is about?
Who is it again that prepared the way for Jesus? Oh yeah. It was John the Baptist,
the one who preached the way of repentance. That's right, my friends. Today's story is about
John the Baptist. John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus and a great prophet. He lived a simple
life in the desert, surviving mainly on locusts and wild honey. Though to many, he may not have
looked like much, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. At first, his followers were few in
numbers, but they grew to crowds of people coming from far and near to listen to him preach the good
news of salvation. Daily, he invited people to repent and accept God's grace. Even though the
religious leaders tried angrily to stop him, he continued to preach and baptize many, including
Jesus. Even though John the Baptist did not have an easy life, he continued to let his life shine
for Jesus to the very end. Wowzers! Now that's commitment. I want my light to shine brightly
like John Baptist did. And we all can when we remain connected to Jesus and allow the
Holy Spirit's power to work in us. We all can shine for Jesus.
