Back to Graceville where God's love is everywhere. It's me Pastor Anastasia and I'm so excited
that you've joined me today as we learn more about our best friend Jesus. Today's special feature
comes to us right here from the United States where my friend Katie has prepared a beautiful song
just for us. Let's listen in.
Thank you so much Katie for that wonderful song. Boys and girls remember if you want to share the
cool things that you're doing to have fun while we're staying at home feel free to ask your
parents or guardians to inbox me and I'd be happy to share it with our friends.
Have you ever been asked to do something that you really did not want to do? Yep, me too.
Those are the moments when we just want to hide but when we are obedient and trust God's word
we find the courage to do what he says. That's why our theme for today is don't run away from God.
Let me hear you say it. Don't run away from God.
Awesome. And our memory verse for today is found in Deuteronomy chapter 5 and verse 33
and it simply says walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you.
Let me hear you say it. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord has commanded you.
Deuteronomy 5 verse 33. You did it. Sometimes what God wants may be completely different from what
we want but when we put our faith in God we will find that his way is always best.
That's why today's story is about a man who learned the hard way that we should never
run away from God. Can you guess who our story is about today?
I think it was that guy who is trapped in the belly of a big fish. I know.
It's Jonah. That's right Jada. Our story is about Jonah.
One day God told the prophet Jonah to take a message to the city of Nineveh.
God wanted him to tell the Ninevites to stop doing bad things but Jonah did not like the Ninevites
so he decided to run away to Tarshish instead. This was a big mistake. Not long after he boarded
a boat heading in the opposite direction a terrible storm came out of nowhere. Everyone on the boat
was very afraid except Jonah. He was fast asleep. When they discovered that Jonah's disobedience
had caused the storm they ended up throwing him overboard. Immediately the storm stopped.
Thankfully God sent a giant fish to rescue Jonah. He was so sorry for running away and prayed to God.
After three days and nights the big fish threw him up and out came Jonah right at Nineveh.
This time Jonah willingly shared the message that God had given him. After listening to Jonah
they decided it was time to change and just like that all the people of Nineveh were saved.
All because Jonah was obedient to God. Boys and girls sometimes it's tempting to do things
our way but it's always best to do things God's way so don't be like Jonah running away from God.
Instead choose to follow him wherever he leads.
