All Things Fulfilled show on Now TV
We're right here broadcasting on the Now Network. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be with you
and we are going to continue some studies that we
have begun by presenting some of the charts that we had prepared for a recent debate
that we engaged in with Dr. Sam Frost. Last week we presented a debate on an argument that
was made from Acts chapter 17 and verse 30 and today we're going to be talking about Isaiah 25
verses 6 through 10 for the most part. And so we'll be into that shortly. We want to encourage
you if this is your first time watching the broadcast to be sure. Make a note to tune in
every Saturday from 6 30 until 7 p.m central time from 7 30 until 8 p.m eastern time. In addition
these broadcasts are also uploaded to our YouTube channel which is All Things Fulfill and when you
go to that channel you can become a subscriber. There's no charge for that. Become a subscriber
and we encourage you to go back and watch some of the videos maybe a second time you know if you
want to further your studies. And there's tons of videos there over 800 videos and we're still
adding them on a regular basis. We want to encourage you to visit our website at allthingsfulfill.com
and there is also a page on the site where you can pick up some additional materials if you'd
like to do some reading and studying or listen to some audios or watch some videos. The website
is allthingsfulfill.com forward slash shop. So we do encourage you to take advantage of those
and once again be sure and subscribe when you go to the All Things Fulfill YouTube channel
and that will allow you to receive videos each time. There's also a bell there and let us know
what you think. If you like the videos be sure and give them a thumbs up and leave us some comments
and we also check from time to time to respond to those comments. Now what I want to do today
is talk about some of the charts from Isaiah chapter 25 verses 6 through 10. We're going to
put a chart on the screen for you so that you can see that and follow along with some of the
things that we were sharing in the debate and we'll talk a little bit about these things as
well. So let me get that up for you and then we will proceed. All right it'll take just a moment
for it to show on the screen. I think by now it should be reflected on the screen and the text
begins in Isaiah 25 that we're going to look at in verse 6. It says, and in this mountain
the Lord of hosts will make for all people a feast of choice pieces a feast of wines on the
leaves of fat things full of marrow of well refined wines on the leaves and he will destroy
on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people and the veil that is spread over
all nations he will swallow up death forever and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces
the rebuke of his people he will take away from all the earth for the Lord has spoken
and it will be said in that day behold this is our God we have waited for him and he will save
us this is the Lord we have waited for him we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation for on this
mountain the hand of the Lord will rest and Moab shall be trampled down under him as straw is
trampled down for the refuse he now that's the text in the context of course you can read the
entirety of the chapter from chapters 25 through about chapter 27 or even start earlier than that
to get a even broader context for this but because this text was specifically mentioned in the
debate we want to talk about it and share some of the concepts that we communicated in that
discussion now the debate was about whether the resurrection of the dead ones which are found in
first corinthians chapter 15 occurred in the first century in 70 a.d or whether that is an event that
is yet future to us and it was my position that that event occurred before some in that generation
passed away just like jesus said in matthew 24 verse 34 also in first corinthians 15 51
when he said we shall not all sleep we shall all be changed and again in the text in
matthew 16 27 and 28 that there were some who were standing there who will not die or taste death
till they saw the son of man coming in his kingdom to execute judgment so let's go ahead and look at
this text that we have in isaiah 25 now it is clear that isaiah's prophecies or prophesize
a feast at the time of the resurrection this is how the text starts and it also
ends on that note it's so important that we recognize this feast in association with the
end of the death and it's very specific in the text it is the death that is found
that phrase the death is mentioned in isaiah 25 it's also mentioned in
first corinthians 15 in romans chapter 6 and also in revelation 21 so when it's talking about death
sometimes that's not noticed in the english translations but when you look in the original
it has the death and so it's referring to very specifically the death that adam was
condemned to when he ate the death that entered into the world as a result of adam's sin
now the resurrection is stated to be the harvest at the end of the age you can read about that in
matthew chapter 13 verses 39 and 40 in the parable of the wheat and tares when the bible talks about
the son of man sowing seed uh the scripture says that the harvest is the end of the age now the
age in which jesus lived was the age that we call the age of moses the old covenant age that's what
stood over against the age to come now a lot of people like to throw a little a lot of confusion
in there i should say but from the perspective of the two ages that the hebrews talked about
in their scriptures and even in the rabbinic teachings and writings it was always this age
versus the messianic age the age of the messiah or what we call the age to come jesus was then
living in what was called this age in the scripture which was the age of moses and so when
he says the harvest is the end of the age he was speaking about the end of moses's covenant the end
of that age the feast which was celebrated or which celebrated israel's harvest was the feast
of tabernacles this is also called the feast of sakroth the meaning of that term is just a booth
covered with branches the plural stands for the feast of booths or tabernacles and you can find
the reference in leviticus chapter 23 verses 42 and 43 and again in deuteronomy chapter 16 and
verse 13 when you look up jewish festivals in addition you have a temporary dwelling or booth
used by practicing jews during tabernacles or sakroth so that's what it meant it was the feast
of tabernacles well that where they dwelt in booths primarily to celebrate and to give thanks
to god for a fruitful and abundant season in providing them a bountiful harvest and so the
people were glad they rejoiced they had a feast of seven days and then on the eighth day there was a
feast of sakroth or the uh excuse me the feast of shemini atzaret and that was called the eighth day
festival and so it ended with what was called the last day or the great day of the feast jesus
refers to that in the seventh chapter of john and the verse is 37 so let's take a moment and read
that so you have that text in front of you uh very important to understand the significance
and the meaning of that text john chapter 7 the verse is 37 he says on the last day
that great day of the feast jesus stood and cried out saying if anyone thirst let him come to me
and drink he who believes in me as the scripture has said out of his heart will flow rivers of
living water this is important because there are passages in the new testament for example
in the gospel of john john 6 39 verse 40 verse uh 44 54 and chapter 6 and then chapter 7 of course
here we have the uh text in verse 37 in chapter 11 you have verse 24 and then in john 12 48 we
have the tech uh the statement again that he who rejects me and receives not my word the same uh
shall judge him in the last day so jesus spoke about the last day you know i haven't had much
water today and um i need to uh sip on a little bit my throat seems to be getting a little scratchy
now as we continue on uh we have the
point of that last day that great day of the feast now the last day of the feast was not the
end of time it was the last day of israel's harvest they had the seven days in their seventh
month of their festival calendar they had the seven seven days feast and you can read about
that again in leviticus 23 started verse 34 will give you a whole scenario when you read
down through it and then on that eighth day but that was the end of the feast that indicated the
end of israel's harvest where they would then begin a new year and that eighth day is the day
of beginnings new beginnings and as a result they would move into the next year for their
uh festival calendar and for the upcoming agricultural season so we should not be confusing
and conflating the last day of time with the last day in the gospel of john that was a day
associated with the feast of tabernacles if we uh disassociate it from that then it leads us
into trouble and we start thinking about the end of time of which the bible says nothing
as it relates to the uh coming of the lord therefore the resurrection did not end with
the end of time remember matthew 13 39 and 40 says the harvest is the end of the age
and there was an age to come thereafter and then the bible talks about generations that would
follow so we're not discussing an end of time then uh with the last day of the feast of tabernacles
which was shemini oxiret the beginning of the new creation or age to come which is the world without
in the world that has no end as the scripture talks about the new heavens and the new earth
which will remain before me says the lord so shall your name your descendants and your name
remain and again in the new testament when the bible speaks about the kingdom of god being
received in hebrews chapter 12 and verse 28 it's a comparison between things that were to be destroyed
and by the way they were only to be destroyed yet once more then he says this yet once more
indicates the removal of those things which are being shaken so that the things which cannot be
shaken may remain what is it that would remain wherefore he says we receiving a kingdom which
cannot be shaken let us have grace whereby we may serve god acceptably with reverence and godly fear
from that perspective the kingdom which is the house not made with hands daniel 234 the stone
cut out of the mountain without hands and again in verse 44 and 45 that kingdom remains that kingdom
has no end so the one that was removed was already being removed at the time the writer mentioned it
in hebrews 12 and it would only be shaken once more there was only one more shaking of anything
that could be shook that's the power of that statement at the time hebrews 12 was written
he talked about a yet once more shaking and the shaking was already in progress and once again
that was the last time that anything mentioned in scripture that could be shaken would be shook
and it was shaken in that first century generation in that first century time frame
when hebrews was written now that we've shown you some of the information on that chart let me put
it in a more pictorial form for you so that you can see the points that were made in the debate
and i'm going to share this chart with you because this chart will point out the distinction between
the points that my opponent sam frost was making and that i was making in in the discussion this
one will focus more on uh various points that uh that he was presenting so let's get this one
shared as well now if you notice in this chart he took a position on first corinthians 15
verse 55 actually 53 through 55 and this was on um his facebook post from the 3rd of august
and if you go to one of the uh channels i think he was doing a study on first corinthians 15 and
this might have been one of the last ones i think this was the last one less than 20 that he did
and so what he said was that from isaiah 25 7 and 8 which is a parallel to first corinthians 15
55 and i'll try to get that text in front of you as well so that you can
see what that text says because i know that there's you know some who are not as familiar
with the text even though we do encourage you to have your bibles out when you study with us
but in first corinthians 15 and verse 55 it says oh death where's your sting oh hades where's your
victory now that's the conclusion of that but this is led into with the text that says well
this corruptible verse 53 must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on
immortality so when this corruptible has put on incorruption and this mortal has put on immortality
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written death is swallowed up in victory well that
is the text that is cited from isaiah 25 that we read he will swallow up death in victory so what
we have is the bible saying that it destroys the veil of the death spread over all nations now
sam frost used this to say that death would be swallowed up for everyone it didn't matter
whether you were a believer or a non-believer death would be swallowed up for everyone and in
that discussion he took a universalist position even though he was trying to charge me with
universalism he was there saying death was going to be swallowed up everybody because the veil
is covered over all the nations and if the veil was covered over all the nations and god swallows
up the death then it means that it's swallowed up for all the nations for israel and all the other
nations uh who existed and that means and and he's using that to advocate a physical death position
and to say that this has not yet occurred because physical death is still occurring and it's
supposed to be swallowed up for all the nations so that's a universalist position that's universalism
plain and clear and simple the text in first corinthians 15 26 is another text that he
cites to go along with that but here's the problem with that text just to introduce it
that text says the last enemy which is being destroyed is death which means that death or
the destruction of it was already underway when first corinthians 15 was written when paul wrote
that statement the demise of death was already underway however when sam frost would quote it he
would always quote for something to happen in the future and he would ignore the fact of the present
that was taking place a present passive a present uh present passive middle or present middle he
would just ignore that and say you see it says in um adam all die even so in christ shall all be
made alive and he'll just focused on the future there but we want you to note that that is a text
that indicates the demise of death was already underway so something had already occurred that
was causing them to have put off whatever the body is in that text and it's not a physical body
this text is one of the reasons why and there are others as well but then it says in that day
which he cites to be the last day for all those scriptures we gave you earlier from john 6 39 and
40 44 54 11 24 and john 12 48 and of course john 7 37 now when we look at this what does he omit
when he's talking about it let's check him off number one we have the last veil of death because
if that's when death was going to be swallowed up we don't need another veil because that takes
care of it and in his view he was saying it's for all the nations it was the last enemy for sure
the last enemy is death first corinthians 15 and verse 26 it was on the last day we see that right
in the text and for him that means the last day of time but one thing he does not accept or does
not note is that it was also the last feast according to israel's festival calendar they
had several feasts that they observed in the year this was the last of those feasts the feast of
tabernacles because it marked the end of the harvest well here's what the text says and in
this mountain the lord of hosts will make for all people a feast of choice pieces a feast of wines
on the leaves of fat things full of marrow of well refined wines on the leaves so where is all this
taking place it's taking place in this mountain what is the mountain that's the same mountain
of daniel chapter 2 a stone that was cut out of the mountain without hands and it grew to fill
the whole earth became a great mountain fill the whole earth in isaiah chapter 2 in the
uh the text says that it should come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the lord's
house will be established above the heels and in the mountains and exalted above the heels
and notice all nations shall flow to it it didn't say they're just gonna circle around it
or be somewhere out there in no man's land but these nations were to flow into it flow to it
all nations to flow to it that's not what mr frost was saying he was just saying that's
going to be swallowed up they don't have to come anywhere near the kingdom of god for his argument
in addition in this mountain is simply the kingdom of god so what the text is actually
saying is in this mountain death would be swallowed up now some other passages to help
you to see this feast the feast of tabernacles is mentioned not only in john 7 and 37 but it's
mentioned in zechariah chapter 14 verse 16 and following notice and it shall come to pass
that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against jerusalem shall go up notice now from
year to year well wait a minute if he's got the end of time for the end of death how do you get
another year after that and another year after that and another year after that and another
year after that world without end he'll be the first to tell you ages come sometimes they
consider an age to be a hundred years and sometimes longer and they're basically talking about a
generation from that use of it from that uh way that it's used but if we're going to interpret
ephesians 2 7 that way and it's ages then that follows the age that he admits in first corinthians
10 and verse 11 came to an end in the time of the first century this uh disciples in the time of the
first century saints at the time of the fall of jerusalem in 70 a.d he will admit that but then
well here's the text saying that this is the age to come and then families keep coming up from year
to year to keep the tabernacles now watch this let's continue to read and we're moving quickly
out of time so i won't get a chance to show you the second chart we'll have to do that in next
week's lesson but it says they will come up from year to year to worship the king of the lord of
now this is not the same feast and we'll get into that at some point this is not the same
uh national feast or feast that national israel kept this is the eschatological feast
that is being kept and it's actually uh an age enduring feast it's not uh one that comes every
year in a cyclical fashion it never ends because this is the eternal feast of tabernacles
the imagery here is just saying that they come up from year to year but just showing you that
time continues and it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to
jerusalem to worship the king the lord of hosts on them there will be no rain now watch he starts
to name the nations if the family of egypt will not come up and do what and enter in what are
entering into that mountain the kingdom where death is swallowed up if the family of egypt
will not come up and enter in they shall have no rain they shall receive the plague with which
the lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the feast of tabernacles that sounds like
it was necessary for them to come to the mountain just like in hebrews 12 when it says we have not
come to the mountain that burned with tippus and fire and pestilence and and um the um thunder
and fire and smoke and all of those things that even made moses tremble and quake but we have
come to mount zion to the heavenly jerusalem to the city of the living god and in that very text
he says to a festal occasion to the feast of tabernacles is what that was referring to
he said they had come to the general assembly that's the word festal occasion in mount zion
so they were not outside of the mountain they were in mount zion then he says this shall be
the punishment the word punishment is from the greek word harmony this shall be the sin
of egypt and the punishment or the sin of all the nations that do not come up
