Hi there, I'm Matt and this is the beautiful new Rocket 3 R221 Special Edition, designed
to celebrate the Rocket 3's world-leading 221Nm of earth-shattering torque, delivered
by the largest production motorcycle engine on the planet.
This unique livery, which is available for one year only, highlights the Rocket's phenomenal
performance through a beautiful understated design.
This is a bike where the numbers really do matter, and there's no disputing the Rocket's
dominance.
221Nm of torque, a 2,458cc engine, 167PS power, 85.9mm stroke, 110.2mm bore.
And these incredible stats are a key part of this one-off Special Edition scheme, where
they feature in a really sophisticated way across the top of the richly coloured Red
Hopper tank, enhanced by these bold 221 kneepad graphics.
The lustrous Red Hopper paint of the tank is carried across to the front mudguard, while
the rear bodywork, flyscreen, radiator cowls, side panels and headlamp bowls are all finished
in a deep sapphire black for an added layer of sophistication.
On top of this really beautiful Special Edition scheme, of course, you get all of the latest
generation Rocket 3's incredible ride and specification.
It's a completely integrated package of genuinely astonishing performance, class-leading handling
and outstanding technology, with an unmistakable and dominant presence.
Not only does the 2,500cc triple deliver the world's highest torque at 221Nm, but peak
power is also a breathtaking 167PS.
It's been tuned to deliver power all the way from a low 3,500rpm to the redline at 7,000rpm,
while peak torque is reached at just 4,000rpm and is held all the way through the mid-range.
The result is unparalleled acceleration, 0-60mph in 2.73 seconds and all day, any gear, effortless riding.
It's a beautiful looking engine too, with a hydroformed 3-header exhaust rum which delivers
the most magnificent, rich triple engine roar.
The Rocket 3R also features a high-performance 6-speed helical cut gearbox and a torque assist
hydraulic clutch for super slick operation.
Adding to the Rocket 3's clean, uncluttered styling is a beautifully engineered aluminium
single-sided swingarm with offset monoshock suspension.
The wheels are lightweight, cast aluminium with an intricate spoke design and come fitted
with 240mm Avon Cobra chrome tyres.
These have been developed especially for the Rocket 3 and deliver exceptional grip and
high mileage durability.
Adding further to the clean look and muscular feel, you have these internally wired, roadster
style handlebars which hide away all of the usual cables and wires.
With so much power at your fingertips, the ergonomics have been carefully designed to
optimise comfort and control.
The rider's seat has been sculpted to provide perfect support, while the mid-position foot
controls are adjustable with two vertical position settings to choose from.
Seat height is an accessible low 773mm.
You can also change the setup from twin-seat to single with an accessory infill pad.
To match that single-seat look, the pillion footpegs can be hidden thanks to this unique
and elegant fold-away design.
When it comes to handling, the Rocket 3 is a revelation.
It's a genuinely dynamic roadster, much more akin to a speed triple than at first glance
might suggest.
It's also fabulously comfortable and will tore with ease.
It has a lightweight aluminium frame and a very high specification of equipment.
On the rear, there's a fully adjustable Showa monoshock RSU with a piggyback reservoir,
while up front, the upside-down Showa cartridge front forks are adjustable for compression
and rebound damping.
The brakes are Brembo's top specification road-going radial monoblock calipers, Brembo
Stylemas with twin 320mm floating discs.
These cutting-edge calipers are a lightweight and compact design with optimised airflow
for efficient cooling.
And further highlighting the incredible specification of this bike, at the rear, there's a four-piston
monoblock caliper and a 300mm disc, a setup more commonly found at the front end of a
motorcycle.
The Rocket 3 also comes with Triumph's optimised cornering ABS and traction control as standard.
These are controlled by a sophisticated inertial measurement unit, which measures the roll,
pitch, yaw and acceleration rates of the bike in order to calculate the lean angle and optimise
braking and traction control accordingly.
The instruments are Triumph's latest generation full-colour TFTs, which are angle-adjustable
and have two information layout themes that can be personalised.
The TFT system has the MyTriumph connectivity system software already installed and enabled,
set up and ready to be used with an accessory-fit Bluetooth module.
This gives you GoPro interaction, turn-by-turn navigation and phone and music operation via
the switch cubes all displayed on the TFT screen.
There are four riding modes to choose from – Rain, Road, Sport and Rider Configurable
– all of which can be easily changed while on the move via the illuminated switch cubes.
The riding modes adjust the throttle response and traction control settings to suit rider
preference and riding conditions.
For low energy consumption, increased durability and greater visibility, the Rocket 3R has
all LED lighting, including this twin LED headlight, this beautifully shaped tail light,
the indicators and the number plate light.
The headlights also incorporate these signature shaped LED daytime running lights, increasing
rider visibility to other road users.
As standard, the Rocket comes equipped with Hill Hold Control, Cruise Control, Keyless
Ignition and Keyless Steering Lock, as well as a USB charging socket.
As with all Triumphs, there are a wide range of genuine accessories available so you can
tailor your bike to suit your preferences.
These include Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless up and down gear changes, heater grips and
a tyre pressure monitoring system for enhanced safety and control.
There's also a range of luggage, with an innovative Triumph patented Cast Aluminium
Pannier Mounting System, interchangeable seats and handlebars, and tracking and alarm systems.
So there you have it, the new Rocket 3R 221 Special Edition.
Available for one year only, it's a striking statement of the Rocket 3's exceptional
world-beating 221Nm of torque-rich performance.
