Surprise guys, we're going live, hopefully this goes out and lets some people know that we're going live. I know I don't go live too much on this channel. I thought since it's a holiday, and since I didn't upload a video today, I had a video for today, I just didn't feel like uploading it because it was a holiday. So I thought, you know, I'm just going to do a live. Well, then like time kept passing. It's like, oh, I was supposed to like do a out with the dogs in the recovery room. The vlog that you guys are going to see tomorrow is actually the surgery day, Memphis's surgery day. She's actually doing really, really good. They're kind of all napping. They just had dinner and we were chilling out in here and I was like, you know what, I totally forgot that we were going to go live. So do you want to take this off? Do you want to take it off? If you don't know, our vlogs are about a week to a week and a half out. So like the next vlog you see, the one that you're going to see tomorrow is actually the day she had surgery, which was actually seven days ago. Memphis had surgery on her knee seven days ago. If you don't know what's going on, she had knee surgery seven days ago. So that's a thing. And yeah, she's just been recovering from that. It's going to take about six weeks before she can get back to somewhat normal life. Like right now, I'll show you here. Don't mind my mess. Thank you for the super chat Pooja. Make today count. So this is our little recovery room that we have set up. I have been sleeping here and then whenever I leave and Jamie comes in, he'll hang out on the bed in here with the dogs. So there's a baby gate there. There's a baby gate in the hallway as well. Right now I have the baby gate just up at the end of the hallway. There's Miss Kira right here. I have another dog bed over here. That's a dog bed, but it's more really more a step to help her get up on top of this. And I think we explained this in an upcoming vlog. She was trying to do this so hard with that big heavy splint thing on. She's like, I got my bellies up. I am good. So anyway, yeah. So she blew out her, she blew out her ACL on her left knee and she needed knee surgery. So she's doing really, really good. Like you guys would not believe how well she's actually doing. She's doing really good. She thinks she can walk on it. Yeah, I know. And you think you're like, I'm just stretching. Stretching, stretching's good. You're supposed to be stretching. What we're not supposed to be doing is running. And what did you try to do when we went outside earlier? You're going to be restricted to a leash. That's what's going to happen. I'm just saying. Like I probably should have taken these two for a W-A-O-K, but I decided to go live instead and it is, uh, you can see out the window here, it is starting to get dark outside, so maybe afterwards we'll do this. But trust me, I know you guys, even when you do follow us everywhere, half the time, you know, you don't get notified about things. Memphis had knee surgery. She had knee surgery last week, Monday. I know probably not this year, but wondering if she'll ever, whoa, I don't know what the focus is doing, but wondering if she'll ever be able to again once she's completely recovered. So we don't race our dogs. I don't know why my, my, my focus is doing this weird thing. It might be the lighting in here. Sorry about that, guys. It's not your eyes. It's my, it's my lighting. Will she be able to pull a sled again? We aren't sure quite yet. A lot of times, like in racing Huskies, when they have an injury like this, it's a retirement injury. It means they will never race again, but it doesn't mean they won't run. So because Memphis would be a lead dog and not a wheel dog, the wheel dog would be Kira and Eleanor, Memphis isn't going to be having as the stress and the weight of the sled on her, if you understand what I'm saying. So there's a chance once she's recovered, I don't know if she'll be able to do it this winter. It might be a little too early, but there's a chance that she'll be able to still trot with the sled or trot out in front of the sled. Memphis was never much of a big like full speed run dog anyway. Very rarely she would do it on the sled, but normally she would just trot. She was really good at trotting at a pace. So how are you guys doing with this? Are you getting sleep? Um, lack of sleep. We're getting lack of sleep. I'm sleeping in here with her, which this bed is actually more comfortable than you would think. This is the futon mattress that we, you know, we took it off the futon. We covered it with some stuff and we put it on the floor here. Oh my gosh, Nick, I love you. Hi friend. Nick says, hi Jess, just sending best wishes for Memphis to have a speedy recovery. Nick, you're amazing. I absolutely love you. Um, Jordan, I take tramadol for my chronic pain. I wanted to see how Memphis is doing. We already took her off of it. Um, I wanted to see how Memphis is doing or doing on it and how is her pain. Her pain's been very managed, very managed, but we, we did not, we stopped giving her the tramadol. Oh wait, there was a really good question here, uh, from Christy. Were you worried about anesthesia given her age? Okay, so this is something I really thought about making a video on and like talking to you guys about. Is anesthesia scary? Yeah, surgery is scary. Surgery for people is scary. Surgery for dogs is scary. Surgery is scary in general. Was I scared about the anesthesia with her age? Memphis is nine and a half and at our vet's office, our vets are, I'm going to say it wrong, A-A-H-A accredited. So they have to go through like this rigorous thing to be accredited for this. Not very many vets are actually accredited. When Memphis or any of the dogs actually go, go under for anesthesia, there is a whole list of things that they have to do for it. So like Memphis had a full blood panel done before they even put her under, before they give her any medication. So basically what that means is they, they draw blood and they do this full, I don't have it sitting here, but they do a full blood panel workup. And if anything looks strange on the blood panel workup, they won't do the anesthesia. And then when she's under, they actually have a tech with her at all times. That is just like when you're in the hospital, that's monitoring everything. The amount of anesthesia, the oxygen going in and out, their heart rate, everything. It's actually, it's a lot like what they do with people. Putting dogs under anesthesia is not what it was 20 years ago. Heck, it is not even what it was five years ago. It's come so far. If you ever have to have your dog put under, ask your vet to explain the process that they do. Because all vets are different, but our vets are absolutely amazing. Absolutely amazing when it comes to this. So was I scared? Like I said, surgery is scary in general, but I wasn't really that worried about the anesthesia because I knew she was in really good hands. Rosa, thank you for the super chat. I know she could ride in the blue sled which you had, which zippered, had a zippered compartment in the front. She could ride in the sled. Memphis is going to be able to swim once she gets her stitches out. We're actually going to be doing, uh, water therapy with her. So basically she'll be able to swim and it'll get, you know, help with the strength in her legs. We would have to drive like four hours to be able to use an underwater treadmill, which we may still do. Uh, so once she gets her stitches out and she starts therapy, she can do short five to 10 minute walks a day, depending on how she feels. Leashed walks, of course. Uh, there's a really cool thing showing up for her on Friday, which is going to help her with that. But yes, she will be able to also use the inside treadmill for days when we can't make it outside. Like if it's raining or something like that, she still needs to get those walks in. So yeah. Um, do you think hydrotherapy is beneficial for dogs? Yes. Hydrotherapy is very beneficial for dogs. It's beneficial for people as well because it is weightless. So basically she's going to be able to move all of her legs, all of her joints without having to put any pressure on them, which is really, really good for them. Love you Memphis. She was actually just prancing in a straight line and, uh, it just went out. She didn't even get run into. She wasn't even running. Does she still limp when she walks? Currently, yes. We can't do anything for the next five weeks, so we'll figure that out. Nick says, were you ever able to determine the cause of the ulcers? So, wait, hold on a second. I messed something up. Things are going faster than I can go. Ling, thank you for the super chat. So, her stomach ulcer. Did we ever find out, uh, what caused it? No, we did not. We were going to, but we should have biopsied it the first time, but we didn't. And part of the reason we didn't was the location it was in. Dr. Ryan said it would have been a little bit hard to biopsy at that point in time because of where it was in her stomach. He could have done it, but he chose not to because of where it was. So, if it would have still been there, we would have biopsied it. But the fact that it was gone, we kind of believe, and he kind of explained it to me as it could have been something food related. It could have been something, um, medication related. We don't, he doesn't think it was stress related. I don't really think it was stress related either. So, we aren't 100% sure what caused it. We may never know what caused it, but now we're just hoping it never, ever, ever happened again. Uh, Cheyenne says Memphis is still a puppy in my eyes. I know. Can you believe she's nine and a half? Shiloh and Shelby were on the TV show Bad Dog on Animal Planet in 2011. Shiloh was on a Michigan State lottery ticket. That would have been 2008, maybe 2007. I'm not 100% sure when that was. It was actually, I think the lottery ticket was before we started doing YouTube. The Bissell box was after we started doing YouTube. The lottery ticket, Shiloh won and Shelby came in, I think second place on that and then the Bissell one, Shiloh won. Shiloh and Shelby were both supposed to be in the finals, but they told me they couldn't put them both in the finals because I owned both of them. So we ended up telling them to put Shelby in the finals because Shiloh had been on a lottery ticket. So we thought it would be cool if Shelby won and then she did. So she won, what was it, fourth place? I think. Either way, she got to be on a Bissell vacuum cleaner box, which is really cool. The dogs were nominated for a People's Choice Award in what, 2018? It's interesting doing YouTube. I mean, I can talk to you guys about this. It's interesting doing YouTube because on a daily basis, you know, like our lives are very public. We share a lot of what, I mean, look, we share this. We've shared dogs that we've lost. We've lost three dogs in the almost 13 years now that we've been doing YouTube. And because of the way YouTube works, YouTube will serve up old content to people and people will find us through old content. They'll subscribe. Then they'll start seeing our new content. And the first thing they ask is, where's Shelby? Where's Oakley? Not very many people ask about where's Shiloh because she was only on the channel for a very short amount of time and not all of you know who she was. But I get that question literally on a daily basis. And a lot of it, you know, at first it was annoying to me and then I'm like, you know, a lot of people don't know and they don't know because they were served up old content for so long. And then they started seeing new content. So they're like, what dog is this? Why is this dog different than the dog that I saw from before? So it's a very interesting, I don't know if it's an issue. I don't know what the word I'm looking for is. It's a very interesting problem, I guess, to have to deal with on a daily basis of like, hey, where's your dog that's not here anymore? Memphis is feeling really, really good. She's actually feeling really, really good. I love watching old content. Me too. I go back and watch old content all the time. But a lot of people discover us from old content. And then when they find the new content, they're like, wait, where's this dog? And they don't realize people don't look at dates. Like seriously, think about it. When you watch a YouTube video, do you ever look at the date on it? I mean, nobody really does. Nobody looks at the date of the content they're watching. So they don't know. Like they'll see something that YouTube is promoting that's an older video and then they come to new videos and they don't know that the video they watched was five years ago. Like it's really interesting. It's really interesting. Whoa. Hi. Whoa. My goodness. Look at the crazy focus on this thing. You know what it is? It's the LED lights in this room. That light is not turned all the way up. So it's like, we don't know what we're focusing on. I feel like I always look at the date. Most people don't. They've actually done polls on this. Was that like a complete call out to what we do with our Facebook page? So Facebook is interesting. Facebook does not like to promote new content. They don't like to really promote anything. And because we have so many years of content that never went up on Facebook, we try to do like throwback stuff on Facebook. But if we put on it that if we put the date on it, Facebook hates it. If we say throwback, Facebook hates it. Any indication to Facebook that it's an old video, not a new video, Facebook hates it. Facebook is very interesting. That's why I always tell people, if you want our up to date content, come to YouTube. If you want to just watch fun videos of the dogs over and over and over again, go to Facebook. Because Facebook is where, you know, tomorrow a video might go up that was actually from 10 years ago. But Facebook is not a chronological website at all. Like they do not show you things in a chronological chronological order. So even if I uploaded everything chronologically on Facebook, it would be massively confusing, just like it is now. You know, some of it's new, some of it's old, some of it's re-shared. Facebook wants you to upload like a lot of, like a lot, a lot of content. They want you to put up a lot of videos. And we just, we just don't have the ability to do that. Facebook is really weird. I can't read your name. I watch a lot of tech reviews, so I do look at dates. Well, with tech, you'd think that'd be kind of interesting. Excuse me. Yeah, Facebook is definitely the worst when it comes to chronological. So we just use it like, and on Facebook, we don't upload full videos. Our videos on Facebook are compressed to like three and a half minute videos.
