Good morning and welcome to another vlog and welcome to my spring coffee shop guide. I feel
like I do these once every season but there are so so many coffee shops in New York City worth
sharing and I have picked out six cafes and bakeries a lot of which are brand new that we're
going to go around and try across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens this time. So we've got
three boroughs represented and today we're starting in the Flatiron and I just spotted
the Flatiron building and the scaffolding is finally coming down and it's looking so beautiful.
It's been covered for so long but we have two coffee shops and a bakery here to try so let's go.
Let's get caffeinated.
Our morning is off to a strong start. Salisbury was so delicious. I just tried their classic
chocolate croissant because a lot of the pastries are a little bit too much for me in the morning
and it's so delicious. The chocolate is melty on the inside, the texture is perfect.
Highly recommend. I'm actually so blown away by that croissant and they said that the mango
dessert is one of the most popular ones if you are looking to get some of the more intricate
pastries. They look beautiful so I do want to try them out another time. Now we are headed to get
some coffee. There's a new watch house that opened up near the Flatiron building on Park Avenue so
we're headed to check it out.
The new watch house is stunning. I think it's my favorite location just from an interior design
perspective. It's absolutely beautiful. The materials they use give it a really warm feel
and it's organized around a central coffee making hub so it very much feels like you're
sitting along the perimeter watching them make espresso after espresso. The coffee was great.
It's also very convenient if you work in the Flatiron. I think it's just about a block from
Madison Square Park so right in the mix of things. Now we're headed to our second coffee shop of the
day. It's called Remy and it's known for being a flower shop and coffee shop. Its first location
was higher up in Midtown and they opened up this new one which I think is bigger
and just north of Madison Square Park.
I think I'm actually vibrating now after three different lattes. I could not finish the ones in
Remy even though they were so delicious. Highly recommend. The lavender latte was so fragrant.
I love lavender as a scent but I didn't realize I would love it as a flavor too.
And then I tried the cocoa something. I'll have left it on screen. And it was so surprisingly
chocolatey even though it wasn't like outright like a mocha. It was more of an infused chocolate
scent almost. And it was stunning. Just stunning. No notes. Cheesecake was delicious and it's such
a relaxed atmosphere in there. They also have upstairs seating which is going to open very soon
so there is actually quite a lot of space you can pop up. I think I saw people working on their
laptop so it seems laptop friendly. And you're in the middle of beautiful flowers so what is
not to love especially for spring. And now we are going to head to Madison Square Park because
I want to see the Flatiron in all of its glory. I think half of the scaffolding is down
but we'll take it. If anyone is curious what I'm listening to as I'm walking through the park
it's American Girls by Harry Styles. Obsessed. Just on loop. And now I am headed back to
Brooklyn. I will see you guys tomorrow. Hello and welcome to another day of coffee in New York City.
We are in Long Island City today and this is a spot that has been around for quite some time
but I've just never visited. So we're finally here to check it out and it's called Coffee Project
specifically their academy. And Coffee Project is this passion project for coffee and people
here in New York. They have a series of cafes around the city but they also do training and
you can take classes. Now we're headed to their academy but not for class. We're actually here
to check out their cafe today because I saw that they have a deconstructed latte that looks really
interesting. So let's go check it out, have some caffeine, and get to know a little bit more about the space.
Good morning and welcome to Vanderbilt Ave. It is bright and early on a Sunday and I'm headed
back to Canyon Coffee because last time I went it was so so crowded and I wanted to spend a little
bit more time and try some more of their menu options. So we are going back and if you didn't
watch the last video Canyon Coffee is an LA-based roastery that just opened their first location
here in Brooklyn. One of the co-founders has some Brooklyn roots so they came from Echo Park
all the way over here to Vanderbilt Avenue and it looks so cozy inside. It's like my
interiors vibe to a tea. They play analog music over a really high quality sound system so it
feels like you're having coffee in somebody's like open kitchen living room and lots of warm
wood tones. Super super chill. And then we are headed to get some pastries at Radio Bakery which
is a viral Brooklyn bakery. You might know them from focaccias or these like three-day pastries
like the twice-baked pistachio croissant. They just opened a location close to Brooklyn Museum
after their original in Greenpoint. So I am headed over there next.
It's going to be a very carb-filled morning. Buckle up and let's go.
So
really quick outfit of the day. I'm basically wearing the Soma Jewelry
Cezanne shirt, jacket, and bag. I love this white button-up because it's so thick
so it just never looks creased and it's not simple. And then twins jeans. These are the
barrel leg and they're so good. I'll leave everything linked down below.
Good morning and welcome back to the apartment. After an entire week of coffee shop hopping,
I thought that I would give the Home Cafe some love and make coffee here this morning. But before
we do, you and I are going to learn how to clean my espresso machine together because I have still
not done it. It is overdue. So I have ordered all of the supplies. I have dug up the equipment
that came with the machine and we are going to learn together. I've watched some tutorials.
Honestly, I'm a little intimidated which is why I've pushed this off for way too long and we're
just going to get into it today. I have the Anzac coffee machine so obviously whatever your setup
at home is going to have its own steps to clean it and we're about to find out what the ones are
here. One big, big challenge is the water tank does not come out of this machine which is why
they created a model two. I have the first version and obviously there were some learnings
which were incorporated into the newer updated one but I just really liked the look and the
pricing of the first one so I'm gonna have to work around these kinks. But before I do,
I have been living in this loungewear so I wanted to take a quick moment to shout out today's
sponsor which once again is Negative. Negative is a New York-based company rethinking everyday
intimates. It is super minimal, extremely comfortable, and thoughtfully designed to
make you feel good in what you're wearing all day long and I have slowly and steadily fallen in love
with their whipped collection. I have been wearing these pieces non-stop. This is the Henley in a
black color. I'm even wearing the bralette underneath and I wanted to show you guys a
couple more pieces I've added to my collection from their spring colorways. This is the whipped
long sleeve in the color satellite. I really like this stripe. This is what the pieces look like on
it's like a second skin and I love the striped pattern. It is the same barely there fabric that
the entire whipped collection has. I already love everything that I have been wearing from them and
I can tell that these two will be another addition to my favorites. If you're also looking to elevate
your everyday essentials, I have linked the pieces below as well as with this QR code so
check out Negative and let me know which is your favorite item. And now it's time to finally get
this espresso machine back up and running so let's go clean it and make a coffee. Okay I spent
about 10 minutes looking up how to quickly do this. If you can hear Milo crying in the background
we're trying to put him to sleep so ignore that but we do have these two things to clean the
espresso machine. I picked up the espresso cleaning powder from Cafizia is what it's called
and then the grinder cleaning tablets. There's another piece that I don't have which is a
descaler which I would really prefer to use because there was like a tiny bit of mold build
up in the water tank so I prefer to just have something I can put into water and run through
the entire machine. I don't have that today. I am going to use a syringe like a massive syringe that
I picked up from Amazon to get the water out since I can't take the whole tank. I'm just
going to wipe it down and clean as best as I can and then use the espresso cleaning powder on
the basket and these on the grinder. So let's do it.
Okay machine and grinder are all set and now I am going to try some new espresso that I got in.
These are very kindly sent to me by Roastful. It's a subscription service where you can try
different beans from different roasters and these three are from Moonwake in San Jose, California,
Subtext in Toronto, Canada, and Filigree in Winter Garden, Florida. I'm very excited to break one of
these open. I think we'll go with the Subtext one and Roast Date was in March. I've had these like
kind of laying around for a little bit and the origin is Kenya.
So
the espresso gods were not in my favor today. I tried so hard to dial in these beans but it just
kept running through too fast. This was the best attempt but it did not hit the recommended bars of
pressure so I would have to go even finder when grinding these beans. I'm already on my lowest
setting on this machine so there's a little like smaller dial on the inside that you can calibrate
smaller steps on so I would have to try that next time but I'm at three shots and I'm honestly a
little tapped out. I was going to try this one to see how it tastes. Oh god yeah that's sour.
Not good. I'm giving up today. White flag. Okay I need to get more practice and I'm a little rusty.
It's been a few weeks since I've made my own so bear with me but I tried. At least the setup is
clean now so thank you so much for watching. I hope that you enjoyed. If you want any links to
my home cafe stuff it'll be in the description as well as a discount to Devotion who are my
all-time favorite coffee beans for using at home and I hope that you got some inspiration for cafes
to go and check out here in New York City and if not maybe it'll get you to go out in your hometown
so let me know what your favorite spot was or if you have a favorite that I should try
and I will see you again here next time. Bye!
