The Love Oracle

What is the difference between tarot cards and oracle cards?
So that is what I'm going to cover in this video.
I'm Rebecca Campbell, I'm a best-selling author and I'm also the creator of several
best-selling oracles such as the Starseed Oracle, the Work Your Light Oracle, Healing Waters Oracle
and the Rose Oracle.
So tarot cards are a structured, fixed system comprising of 78 cards.
The decks are divided into two distinct categories which is the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.
The Major Arcana cards delve into profound, deep archetypal themes serving as a mirror
to the grand tapestry of our soul's journey on Earth.
The Minor Arcana, on the other hand, explore the more daily, tangible aspects of our existence
and illuminate our really earthly experiences.
They are divided up into four different suits which are swords, cups, pentacles and wands.
In contrast, oracle cards are a much more fluid and diverse collection of cards,
each bearing a unique message or image.
These cards can be drawn from a really vast array of decks, each designed with its own
unique theme, guide, energy and intention.
Oracle cards really offer a wonderful, flexible, intuitive approach to divination, allowing
you to connect with your inner wisdom and intuition as you interpret the card's messages.
Unlike the more structured framework of the tarot which is set, oracle cards provide a
broader, more creative canvas for exploration, often honing in on specific aspects of life
or spiritual guidance.
In essence, the main distinction lies in their structure and purpose.
Tarot cards are a comprehensive and time-honored system, while oracle cards offer a more flexible,
versatile, intuitive and personalized approach.
Both hold the immense power to support you in connecting with your intuition and wisdom
within, and the choice between them ultimately depends on your personal preferences and what
you are drawn to and resonate with.
I like to think of oracle cards as a more fluid interpretation of tarot cards.
They vary greatly from deck to deck, but they don't tend to have as detailed a structure
as the tarot.
Oracle cards are much more flexible conceptually as well, and most of which have a theme or
a consciousness or a guide or an energy that they are working with.
While I personally love the tradition of tarot cards, I, as a creative, I really love exploring
the fluidity of different subject matters and energies when working with oracle cards.
What I've also really noticed when working with oracle cards, and actually also through
creating all of my oracle decks, is the ability to attune to the guide or energy of each deck
and how diverse that can be.
I believe that each deck holds within it its own wisdom teachings depending on the themes
of the deck.
This unto itself can really hold wisdom and insight depending on the quality of the individual
decks.
For example, with the rose oracle, this is a deck that the symbol says here that the
rose is a symbol of goddesses of old, and she holds potent medicine for this time.
This oracle creates space for you to connect with her wisdom, her energy, and breathtaking
beauty.
May her healing mysteries call you home to your true nature.
With this oracle, this is a super feminine oracle.
It's about reconnecting to nature, seeing the sacred mysteries, but particularly connecting
in with the rising feminine, the sacred feminine, through the goddess, and the rose being a
symbol of the goddess.
This is a great example of you can really be working with symbolism.
You can be working with a particular frequency, especially if I say compared the Starseed
oracle, which was my second oracle, with the rose oracle, you're working with two
different subject matters, you're working with two different energies, where you're
working with different forms of wisdom as well, different vibrations, and you're working
with different guides as well.
This is what I love about oracle decks.
And so, yeah, really attuning to the frequency of each deck can really help you decide what
decks you're being called to work with as well.
So I hope you have found that helpful.
Trust which type of card decks you feel called to use, and I'm a big fan of embracing them
all.
I love the tarot, and I also love working with oracles.
So I hope this supports you on your card reading journey.
