Well, we started on last week
Delving into the first part of first Corinthians 15. We had
laid some groundwork
foundational groundwork for
introduction to the chapter so that we could
approach it at least from my perspective from a biblical point of view and
Our aim is to try to set a right some of the myths
Concepts that are running rampant on first Corinthians 15 or regarding first Corinthians 15
this is the
chapter that becomes the crux of
study when it comes down to the matter of Christ's return in the first century and
Everybody wants to know what about the resurrection and particularly the resurrection of the dead
We have lived and labored under
traditions for quite some time and that is that the resurrection of first Corinthians 15 has to do with
physical bodies being raised from the ground at some time in our future and
We take issue with that to say that the resurrection is not
focused on
biological bodies coming out of the ground that the
Resurrection has to do with our
soteriology with our salvation our status before God and
that is how it is begun in the New Testament and that is how it is consummated in the New Testament and the
Problem is those who understand how it is initiated in the New Testament fail
To connect the consummation of that same
Initiation or inaugural inaugural
process of resurrection with the consummation and so what they do is they turn the consummation into a
resurrection of a total different nature all together
they will see and will argue that we have a
Spiritual resurrection first and they will cite passages like Romans chapter 6
Colossians chapter 2 Ephesians chapter 2 and other passages to affirm that resurrection begins
Spiritually, it has to do with our salvation and they would be correct on that because that's what we affirm as well. However
This is where they leave it. And so when they see passages that are related to the coming of the Lord
Especially when that coming is spoken of as happening soon in a very very little while
That it was at hand and soon to come to pass that it would occur before some who stood in the presence of Christ
died and
Before that first century generation passed away
Then they ignore those time statements that would cause them to remain consistent
With the beginning of the resurrection all the way down to the consummation of it
and so what they do is they deny the time statements they
make them elastic and try to stretch them for thousands of years and
and some of them have no end in sight for them and
This is what causes the problem is so they fail to be able to exegete the chapter
properly
Because they do not honor those those time statements. I've got to work from my
Phone this morning because I picked up the wrong set of notes
But luckily I have it in my Evernote. And so I'm going to have to
Read from the phone, which I'm not sure that I'm that good at doing but nevertheless
We will do the very best we can to keep up with that now, you know as we were talking about this
spiritual to the physical the spiritual to the material
Concept that is so prevalent in futurist eschatology
We have a text in first Corinthians 15
That is a direct contradiction of that concept because the text in first Corinthians 15 says
first the natural
afterward the spiritual
Now, how can you mess that up? How can you get that confused?
When the Apostle tells you that it is the natural that comes first and then afterward the spiritual
I think that's verse 45 or verse 46 in first Corinthians 15
now if
You're going to argue that the natural
refers to the
physicality of man
Which it does not but that's what the futurists believe many of them that I've talked to if you're going to argue
That the natural refers to man's biology to his physicality
Then the Bible says that's first
So the resurrection should already be over if that's first and what you should be waiting on is a spiritual
resurrection
but
They don't do that. They say no we got the spiritual first and we get the natural second, you know
It's amazing when you have to
advocate a doctrine
That is a hundred and eighty degrees
from what the Bible says and
make the Bible a
lie, so you can
Claim that you have the truth
It doesn't
work, ladies and gentlemen, but they are confident and content with that and would rather call
those of us who can
Understand first the natural afterward the spiritual I would rather call us all kinds of names
nothing pleasant by the way
And claim that we are misunderstanding the scripture. Well, all we did was read it. I'll read it to you now verse 46. However
The spiritual is not first now
How can you mess that up?
the spiritual is
not first
That's exactly what they say the Bible says it's not they say it is
but the natural it's saying the natural is first and
afterward
the spiritual
So where do they get this resurrection of physical bodies coming out of the ground at some time in the future?
when the Bible says the natural is first and
afterward the spiritual
you see
When you take the word natural and
Try to make it refer to the flesh of man to the physicality of man. That's the problem. You're gonna run into
It has nothing to do
with
man's biology
What that term is about is?
man's status before God or lack of status before God
Because he is not walking in the spirit
Now that's getting a little ahead of us
But I think it's important to at least
Just demonstrate the kind of issues
That the future physical resurrection poses for those who will slow down a little bit who will read
Reason and just think about it. How do you run?
roughshod over such passages and then claim that you
Have the truth it's
Rather interesting to hear it and
To see what's going on with this and they never think that they could possibly
be wrong or need to go back and reconsider those things and
But they don't understand the progressive nature of the resurrection
and you know when I was laying the foundation for some of this I pointed this out in Romans chapter 6 and
I've got I received a lot of positive comments from those who were able to see
from Romans chapter 6 where the Bible
pointed out that
when they were buried with Christ that the
Resurrection spoken of in that text was expressed both with the subjunctive mood
which is always the case of the future according to the best of the Greek scholars and
The
simple or pure futurist
Tense the future tense and so you've got two
sources of evidence from linguistics that point out that
shall be in the resurrection, which is the future tense and
Should be is the subjunctive mood all
pointing to the future
from that time and
That is the future that we find in first Corinthians 15
When we understand it, but what our focus is today is
on the resurrection of Christ because
This is where Thank You Beatrice. I'm glad to be back. Good to see you Julie and Marlena as well
This is where
They get off track very quickly
because in looking at the resurrection of Christ
they want to
You might say just narrow the subject down to only his body coming out of the tomb and
When you do that, you're gonna miss a lot of what the Bible says about it
And so they assume that that's all that first Corinthians 15 is about it's the body of Jesus coming out of the tomb
And therefore the bodies of others are going to come out of a tomb or the ground or wherever
their
Remains have been scattered
Eaten up by animals of you name it. I mean it is
It's quite an ordeal when you really think about it, but let's
Let's talk about Christ's resurrection a little bit. I started in on it last week. We kind of ran out of time
in getting into some of the points that was being made or were being made and so
We're going to pick up on some of that today now
When we
Talk about the resurrection of Christ. I want it to be clear as I pointed out last week. We are not denying that Jesus
rose
physically that he came out of the tomb the same body that was placed in the tomb came out and
He demonstrated that that body
was in the same
condition that it was because he pointed to the
Holes that were in his body. In other words the wounds and
Told them to handle him to touch him
That it was not a spirit when you look in Luke chapter 24 in verse 39
The disciples were a little bit troubled about this and so he said to them
Why are you troubled and why do doubts arise in your hearts behold my hands and my feet?
That it is I myself
Handle me and see for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have
Now it's also important to understand that with some other things that we're going to say in the lesson
That we see that Jesus is clearly affirming that the body that went into the tomb is the same body that came out
so we don't deny this as a fact of Scripture and
Verse 40 says when he had said this he showed them his hands and his feet
but while they still did not believe for joy and
Marvel he said to them
Have you any food here?
so they gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb and he took it and
Ate it in their presence
Then he said to them
These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you that all things must be fulfilled
which were written in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me and so he
Opened their understanding in order that they might comprehend the scriptures
But the point that was being made there is he was physically demonstrating
that
through touching his hands through the
visual that they had of seeing him they heard him and
John relates that in first John one saying that you know
Our hands have handled and we have seen and we have touched him etc. So this was the same body
it had the wounds in it now some people argue that this was a
This was an incorruptible body
But the Bible never says that see they have to argue that because of their view on the resurrection
But we're going to show you that that's not true
It wasn't an incorruptible body
It was the same body it had to have food and and just like it did before
Some people say well, you know, he could walk through doors or he could do these miracles
Well, did he walk on water and do miracles before he died, of course, so that
Was not a change in anything
But there was a transformation that took place with
Christ yes, Ron. That's why I was saying post that on this page if you can
Because the audio will be much better than coming through a mere phone
I was doing that for my own backup. But if it creates this kind of problem, we certainly want to
make sure that we just share the
the link from there and direct people there otherwise and
We'll we'll correct that on next week and just make sure that we use the the station share. All right, so
from that point of view and I have to keep
Working with my phone
stay
And stay with my notes. All right, so that's the first point. We're not denying Jesus
Came out of the tomb that his body was raised and we pointed out one of the reasons for that was so
It God could through Jesus's physical resurrection demonstrate as we were seeing here
That he actually rose from the dead
Physically speaking that he came out of that tomb because the Apostles needed the proof
to be eyewitnesses of
Jesus's resurrection in order to qualify them to be Apostles. That's Acts chapter 1
I think it's verse 26
But if not, just as the old preacher say read the whole chapter and you'll find it, but nevertheless the point is
That was one of the reasons that's why in Matthew chapter 12 as we pointed out the Bible says the Pharisees came
demanding a sign of him and he says an evil and an adulterous generation and that was a
Specific evil and adulterous generation. That's a quote from Deuteronomy chapter 32. It's talking about the terminal generation
He said an evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign and no sign
Will be given to it except the sign of the Prophet Jonah for as Jonah was three days and three nights in
the belly of the great fish
so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth and
That was the sign that he gave to those unbelieving Jews. And of course they attested to the fact that
Jesus rose because they were pressed to the position of trying to explain why they couldn't produce a body
You know, that's the first thing that you want to produce when death occurs, right?
Where's the body? Well, they couldn't produce a body. So what did they do?
They paid the Roman soldiers
large sums of money
to say
that
His disciples came and stole him away while the Roman soldiers were asleep now
you know, I remember when I was in seminary when I did I had to do a term paper and
on the resurrection of Christ and
How that text really impressed me because here they are being paid to testify
About something that happened when they were asleep
Can you tell me what happened last night when you were asleep? It's
Ridiculous on the surface of it, but that's what they did. And I guess some people bought it
They paid dearly to get the Roman soldiers to do that and the Roman soldiers would have to guard that tomb with their life
But they were willing to risk their own lives
And take that large sum of money to lie
About the body because they couldn't produce it. They couldn't tell them what happened to it and
Neither could the Jews do it. And so that was how they tried to
to destroy that concept of Jesus rising from the dead and we pointed out also that
With all of the infidels and all of the skeptics who have tried to argue away the resurrection of Jesus
They have failed every theory that they've been that they've advanced has been debunked and
They are left to none other than the conclusion that he actually rose from the dead
but nevertheless
we have
the
Affirmation that there was a physical resurrection, but here's the point when people approach first Corinthians 15
That's the essence of their argument
Jesus rose physically
Therefore we're going to rise physically and that's not what first Corinthians 15 is all about
we pointed out last week that
the Bible says
Jesus
Died for our sins and that he was buried in that. He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures now
That's telling you that there was something else
Involved in the purpose of Jesus's death other than just his body coming out of the ground
it says he died for our sins and
That he was buried and he rose again the third day and that's an elliptical statement
So he rose for our sins as well because he rose for our justification
So his death was all about
Salvation his death burial and resurrection was about our salvation and that's very very important
Now what's also important is as we pointed out Hebrews 9 and verse 26
Says that Jesus died in the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself now
It didn't say he died at the very end of the age
But it was in the last days. It was in the end of the age of Moses that Jesus
died and rose again
Paul even wrote in first Corinthians 10 and verse 11 that the end of the ages have come upon us
So they were living in what the Bible calls the end of the age. We are not
Everybody's looking for the end of the age
You're thinking the world is going to burn to a crisp and be destroyed and that is totally opposite to what the Bible says
No, the world will be here. It has always been here and it will always be here
There is no destruction of the universe in the Scriptures
That is again doctrines of futurism and the confusion that exists out there
How many times has it been predicted and it has never occurred?
It will not occur because the Bible affirms that the earth will remain as long as Christ's throne
Remains as long as God's name remains you can read it in Psalm 72. You can read it in Psalm 89
You can read it in
Genesis 8 and in several other passages Ecclesiastes 1 in verse 4. It's all there
You can even read it in 2nd Peter chapter 3 if you understand how to read the chapter and we have lessons on that
You can go back and look those up on YouTube or even on our page here, but nevertheless
Here's what was going on with the Lord in Luke chapter 9 in verse 31 when the disciples came
at
the time of the
event called the Mount of Transfiguration
Moses and Elijah appeared with Christ to speak with him of his decease which he would accomplish at Jerusalem
now the word decease in Luke 9 and verse 31 is the word Exodus and
so what Jesus was doing in his death was
accomplishing an
Exodus he was leaving something to go to
Something else just like Israel in the book of Exodus when they were in bondage in Egypt
The word Exodus means to lead out and so they were leaving Egypt to go into the promised land
That was typical of
What would happen with?
True Israel who is Christ as the Bible says in Hosea 11 in verse 1 out of Egypt
I have called my son
Well, Israel was simply
typifying
What would happen through Christ who is true Israel?
he is the true seed of Abraham and constitutes Israel and so everyone who becomes a part of Christ through faith and
obedience through baptism become a part of
Israel and that's what the Bible is saying. And so
Just as Israel came out of the Exodus and entered into the promised land Jesus through his death
exited the covenant of bondage
which is styled as Egypt in Galatians chapter 4 and
Thus he was leaving
Egypt what you would call spiritual Egypt in order to enter into a new realm and
It's the understanding of that that is so important when we talk about
resurrection
The resurrection of Christ. This is the applied or what we will call the applied meaning of his death now. I've had
some
Those who reject this concept of
resurrection to claim
that
Lazarus
was raised out of
physical death
into
the
life
into eternal life the promise the blessing of the new covenant and
and I interacted with
That person through a response a written response as well as some exchange on Facebook
But here's the point
The Bible says in John 8 and verse 51 if a man keep my word
He shall never see death and then again in John 11 verses 25 and 26
Jesus said I am
the resurrection and the life look you should put a
period there underlying that statement and just think about what it's saying the Lord said I
am
the resurrection and the life
Well, I don't think Jesus is
a
Tomb or something of that nature in terms of coming out of the ground
no, he's saying that he as a person is the resurrection and the life and
That should direct our conversation about what resurrection is. The Lord tells us what it is. It is himself
It is he and so
He says I am the resurrection and the life he who believes in me though
He were dead yet shall he live and he who lives and believes in me shall never die
now if Lazarus
Had been raised according to that statement
Then Lazarus should still Lazarus should still be alive on earth today because he is supposed to never die
But that's not the case Lazarus died again, and here's the point when Jesus raised him from the dead
Lazarus was raised in the same
state
That he was in before he died
Very important to understand that
He was not raised into the new covenant status or state. He was not raised into the new covenant
He did not receive the promise of eternal life at his resurrection
Here is why the Bible says Christ is the first fruits
He is the beginning of the new creation if Lazarus had been raised
then
into that state then Lazarus would have been the first fruit and
That would destroy Christ as the first fruit and it would make first Corinthians teach another lie
According to futurism, but that's what this gentleman argued it just cannot be the case
that's what we're trying to demonstrate Lazarus was raised in the same Old Covenant of
bondage of
corruption that he was in before he died and
That's why
Physical resurrection is not the resurrection if it were that would be the case
That's why many of them in the Old Testament who were put to death through torture and other persecutions refused
To be brought back to life because they wanted a better
resurrection Hebrews 11 and verse 35 and the scripture says in verses 39 and 40 of that chapter these all
died in faith
not having received the promises that
they
Should not be made perfect and being made perfect is another
Concept for resurrection. It's used in Luke 13 33 that way Jesus said after the third day. I shall be perfected
It's also used in Philippians chapter 3
Verse 11 and 12 where Paul said he had not attained
To the resurrection nor was he already perfected?
So attaining to resurrection and being perfected that's showing you that the term being perfected in
the context refers to
resurrection and so when the scripture says
These all died in faith
Not having received the promise God having provided something better for us
The word these in the context refers to the all those Old Testament Saints that are enumerated from Abel on down
But when he gets to the word us he's talking about the New Testament Saints
And he says all these Old Testament Saints died in faith not having received the promise
God having provided something better for us that they apart from us should not be made perfect
in other words, they could not be perfected apart from the New Testament Saints and
Vice versa and
So they all would be perfected at the same time that refers to the consummation of the resurrection
that's why you have for example in
First Peter chapter 1 when the Bible says receiving the end of your faith
the salvation of your souls
the word in is the word tell us and another meaning for the word tell us is
to be perfected to be consummated to bring to maturity and
So that's the manner in which in which it was used and
The scripture says again in Hebrew 7 for the law made nothing perfect. It could not perfect
That's why they had to come out from under the law
into the gospel where they could be perfected where they could receive resurrection and
Jesus was the first to do that. This is what is focused upon in
First Corinthians 15 that goes beyond the physical resurrection of Christ
That's what makes him the first fruit. Now. Let's get into
a passage that that demonstrates that now in
first Peter chapter 3
We're gonna talk about the flesh versus the spirit a little bit and that's a good study within itself
I would encourage you to pick up your New Testament and just study the contrast between flesh and spirit
And it's not a contrast between biology and a non corporeal existence
The man who is in the flesh is just as much
Flesh and bone and spirit as the man who is in the spirit
The one who is in the spirit has flesh bone and in spirit if you want to look at man from that
categorization, but there is something that determines or delineates one as flesh and
There's something that delineates the other as spirit even though you're looking at a
Human being and we know that has to be true because Paul wrote to the Romans in
chapter 8 and said so then
Those who are in the flesh
cannot please God
well, are you gonna make that your biology and he wasn't talking about carnality in terms of of
People living
Sinful lives that's not the concept of that of that text
he's talking about a status before God a covenantal status and
man's humanity in that status where human strength could not
accomplish the salvation or the
perfection through the law and
That's the reason it was because of man's
Imperfection and we touched on that
Let me cover that just again since we are on that because we can't say this too much. I don't think good morning
the Sakura
You should be in the studio
Unless you're working. All right in Romans chapter 7 the Bible says in verse 12
Therefore the law is holy and the commandment holy and just and good
Has been what is good become death to me certainly not but sin that it might appear sin
Was producing death in me through what is good?
So that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful
but we know that the law is spiritual, but I
Paul says
representing mankind I am
carnal sold under sin and
From that perspective
He is pointing out that the failure is on man's part
Now when you look in Romans chapter 8 and you'll notice he says verse 1
after saying in chapter 7 that he was wretched and
He wanted to be delivered from that body of death and that body of death referred to the old covenant ministration of death
He says I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God
But with the flesh the law of sin
There is therefore now
No condemnation to those who are where in Christ Jesus. It wasn't a biological change
It was a soteriological change. It was a change of their salvific state
for the law
Excuse me. Let me finish that
He says to those who are in Christ Jesus who do not walk according to the flesh
But according to the Spirit for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death for what the law could not do in
That it was weak through what?
Not through itself, but through the flesh through man's inability to keep it
God did by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh on account of sin
He condemned sin in the flesh that the righteous requirement of the law
Might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit now
He talked about those who were carnally minded, etc. You can read all of that in your spare time
But when you get to verse 8, he says so then those who are in the flesh cannot please God now
If you're not in Christ, you are in the flesh
that's the point if you are not in Christ you are in the flesh and
It doesn't matter how much you pray doesn't matter how much you give you
Cannot it doesn't matter how much good you do. You cannot please God. It's because you're in the wrong place to do it
You know, you can be the fastest runner on earth
But you'll never win the Olympics if you're not in it and it's the same way
with the Lord
You have to be in Christ in order for the good the prayers and everything that you do
to be a
Merit, so those who are in the flesh and see that's what the Jews thought the Jews thought I don't have to be in Christ
I can just keep the law and I'll be okay. No Paul says if that's what you do, you are about to die and
Thus he tells the Romans those who were baptized according to chapter 6
This is what he says to them, but you are not in the flesh
But in the spirit, how did they get out of the flesh and into the spirit and he wasn't writing?
to non-corporeal
bodies
To spirits. He wasn't he was writing to men just like you and me in
Their physical bodies yet. He said of them. They are not in the flesh
They were in the spirit if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you
Ladies and gentlemen brothers and sisters
that's the determination of what makes a natural man versus a spiritual man a
Psyche cost man versus a pneumatic cost man. It is the Spirit of God that was dwelling in them
that's what first Corinthians 2 tells us and
If we understand that then we should carry that concept of natural versus spiritual all the way into first
Corinthians chapter 15
Paul didn't lay the foundation in chapter 2 only to abandon it in chapter 15
let's read 1st Corinthians chapter 2 and
Notice what the text says and you can find this several times in the New Testament. They're consistent all the way through
there about four or five times where you have a contrast between the natural man and the
Spiritual man the Psyche cost man and the pneumatic cost man. The Bible says in 1st Corinthians 2 in verse 14
But the natural man
Does not receive the things of the Spirit of God now, who is it?
That was rejecting the gospel. Who is it that called Jesus the prince of devils?
Claiming that he was casting out demons by
Beelzebub who resisted the gospel
Who was it that put Stephen to death where the scripture says you do always?
Resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did so do you those were the natural men
The Bible says but the natural man does not
Receive the things of the Spirit of God
For they are foolishness to him
Read first Corinthians 1 and find out who the foolish people were the ones who were rejecting the gospel
They are foolishness to him nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned
Look at verse 15, but he who is
spiritual
Judges all things yet. He himself is rightly judged by no one
that's the pneumatic cost man and the
Psyche cost man. The Psyche cost man is the natural man
But he's body soul and spirit just like the spiritual man is body soul and spirit. Those are not contrast between
Anatomical features versus none anatomical features
They are contrast between
Your status before God or your non-status if you have not obeyed the gospel of Christ
if you are not in Christ, you are a natural man and
A natural man cannot please God if you are in Christ
You are a spiritual man and that is the man who can please God
Because you are dependent upon God's strength through Christ
Versus
Your own which is what they were dependent on on the law and even outside of the law
And because man is imperfect, he'll never get there on his own. It's impossible to do
so let's
look at
First Peter chapter 3 and let's compare this text just a moment so we can see what actually happened
Remember I said earlier
Good morning, Timmy and
The name from South Africa that I cannot pronounce good morning to you, but
Appreciate you very much. You're gonna have to send me an audio and give me the correct pronunciation of that name
And then I'll get it right and I'll be happy to call it out in first Peter
chapter 3 and
Please note this very very carefully
first Peter chapter 3 and the verse is 18
Notice what the emphasis is in the text and let's see what happened with Christ's resurrection
that
Has nothing to do with his physical body
We've already proven that the body that went into the tomb at least if you believe the Bible
We've proven it that the body that went into the tomb was the same body that came out, but there was a difference
between the Jesus who went into the tomb and the one who came out from a
Covenantal perspective
So in first Peter chapter 3 in the verses 18, the scripture says for Christ also suffered once for sins
the just for the unjust
That's the same thing of first Corinthians 15 Christ died for our sins. That's all it's saying
That he might bring us to God. So do you see why Jesus was dying?
He was died. He died to bring us to God. He didn't die to bring us out of the ground
He died to bring us to God to change our
Status before God to take us out of the flesh and bring us into the realm of the spirit
That's why he died
You can raise a person like Lazarus all day long and not get him out of the flesh
If all you're concerned about is their biology
Christ also suffered once for sins the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God
Watch this now being put to death in
The flesh now, please don't miss this
He was put to death in
the flesh
Now that's talking about the whole person of Christ
Being put to death in the flesh in the flesh in
The Greek is what we call a locative. It means location. It means a sphere a place a realm
Jesus was put to death in the flesh
He was born of a woman made under the law and he died under the law
He was put to death in that realm
But the scripture says he was made alive in
the spirit
Now I know some translations read by the spirit the one that I'm looking at now says by the spirit, but those phrases are
parallel
One says in the spirit and the other says in I mean in the flesh and the other says in the spirit and
That's what they mean. His death occurred in one sphere, but his resurrection occurred in a different sphere
death in the flesh
life in the spirit
In other words, Jesus did not go back into the same old covenant that he'd come out of
But he entered into a new realm that's why the Bible says
Through his death. We have a new covenant
so he's now the firstborn the first one to ever make an exodus from the Old Covenant and
enter into the new
Into the realm of the spirit. That's why if you read 2nd Corinthians, the Bible will even
Interchange the word Old Covenant or excuse me, not the Old Covenant the new covenant for the term spirit
Let's read it
2nd Corinthians 3 verse 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant
Not of the letter the letter means the law but of the spirit
There is new covenant and spirit being used interchangeably in the text for the letter kills
But the spirit gives life that's the difference that's the distinction and
So it talks about the ministration of death engraved on stones. So Jesus was coming out of that covenant
That's why he's the firstborn and the beginning of the new creation in Christ
And that is so important for us to understand look in
Romans chapter 1 you will see the same thing Romans chapter 1
And the verses are 3 and 4
Notice what the Bible says concerning the Lord
The Bible says in verse 3 concerning his son Jesus Christ and he's talking about what the prophets had talked about
Concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord who was born of the seed of David
according to the flesh
now watch there's a contrast in the next verse and
declared to be the Son of God with power
According to the spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead. You see Jesus had another birth at
his resurrection
It wasn't the same birth
that brought him into the world and
Made him of the seed of David according to the flesh
You see according to the flesh Jesus couldn't even inherit the throne
Because he wasn't the seed of Coneya Jeremiah 22
But he had a different birth at his resurrection
And by the way, when you study resurrection carefully, you will see that the word on a stasis, which is the term for resurrection is
Also styled as a birth go back and read
Matthew 22 and Luke 20 and Mark 12 in the discussion with the Sadducees
When the Bible talks about the man marrying his brother's wife and raising up seed to him. That's the word on a stasis
It's it's the verb form of it, but it's the word for resurrection
so birth is
used in Scripture
For the word resurrection and vice versa
Go for resurrection and and and and vice versa resurrection is used for birth
so when Jesus rose from the dead, he was born again and
That's what the scripture tells you
Seem like I run out of time right at the point that I want to make a point
And so I'm gonna pick up on this because we're gonna talk about Christ not seeing corruption and what that means
Next week. I thought I was gonna have time to talk about his day, but in the
13th chapter of the book of Acts, I'll just mention this the Bible says and we declare this is verse 32
To you glad tidings that promise which was made to the fathers
God has fulfilled this for us their children in that he has raised up Jesus as
It is also written in the second Psalm now watch what the text says you are my son
when
Today, I have begotten you. What day was he speaking of the day Jesus was raised from the dead
Because he's been born into a new realm. He was put to death in the realm of the flesh
He was made alive in the realm of the Spirit and I submit to you
That that is the essence of what first Corinthians 15 is all about and all of the other verses will support that
When we understand it and
Hopefully get us away from this biological approach to the scriptures. Well, we're out of time. Ladies and gentlemen
It's been a pleasure being with you
