EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS- Southampton 2-2 Ipswich Town - Championship

Once more into the breach my friends. Saints another big ask after another big gain, another big moment and another big opportunity. Can they keep their chances of automatic promotion alive? If they're going to it's going to be by showing their pedigree against the team who occupy that plumb second spot. Saints have won it back off its ridge and then Charles has given it away, picked off by Furlong. Now they'll try and break through the middle of the park. Manning should read that and skips past and that sets him off one-on-one going forward Adam with no one stopping him and the shot was not very good from 18 yards. Jadon Filagin gives it away and then nice touch from Manning. Takes two defenders out and suddenly Sienza can burst forward for Saints. He's got O'Shea backtracking. Sienza in the box. Gets bumped by O'Shea. He wants a penalty. He's not going to have it. It's a goal kick. Yeah good defender but he does the right thing Adam and this is a lipid. He steps in and puts Sienza out of balance. This is the problem for referees Adam. When you have that much pace and get a little knock like Sienza does because O'Shea doesn't get anything on the ball. Yeah and when you get something on Sienza he's going to fall over and he did and I don't think he's diving. He's falling over. He's losing his balance and Sienza did well. Deaton Burns twice. Eventually wins the free kick but why didn't the ref carry on playing the advantage? That's a tricky one. I can understand the referee but he did so well on the first one and then he messed it up on the second one. Yeah free kick for Manning to take from the left. Curls in goal. Goes up to Manning who crosses it and then that's the bicycle kick here afterwards on that cross from Larrin. Certainly Joe there is an emphasis on crisper passing and more tempo from Sampton early in the second half. As Fellows might get caught on the ball here. He's got to be careful. Hitschwitz don't clear it though and then he's drilled by Azaz just wide. Oh that was close. Aubreyn Finn Azaz. Brilliant two foot dribble first between two players and then shoots with his outside of his left foot and it curls away from the post instead of in the other way and needs to get him on and you need to keep the forward playing player. That's lovely play from Azaz to find Manning and Manning finds himself free racing into the Auschwitz half. Can he find a pass? He does to Larin. Larin's still got it. Tips the keeper. What a brilliant attack Adam and that pass from Finn Azaz sets up a Manning who runs on the inside and can go all the way and plays a tough ball into Larin's feet Adam. He has to have a good touch. He does and takes on both defenders on his own with the keep Adam gets it in the corner and we are two one off. Greaves has got Leif Davies hugging this touch line. He gives it to Davies faced by Dozier. Dozier blocks the cross throw into Hitschwitz again. The clock ticking against the tractor boys going too slow for Sainz. If we could keep this result it takes it all the way to the last game which we never thought we would be in that position. 86 minutes gone but the throw in is long and dangerous from Cahoost but Sainz deal with it. Clear it away. They're all back behind the ball though. Hitschwitz just going to come again. Jack Clark right footed hangs it to the back post. Manning goes up. Can't win the header though. It's down. Still Sainz haven't dealt with it. Shot comes in. It's 2-2 and Jack Clark scores to level things up for Hitschwitz. And Sainz have been pegged back and Clark's come off the bench. Top scorer to claim his 16th goal and Sainz and Hitschwitz are all square again. Can't clear the ball properly. It's just yes we cleared. It's just put straight back in and from there Jack Clark puts it in first on the long ball in the back and they win the header but Manning and that is just a arrow of mistake and Jack Clark just gets there in the right time and perfect. He just reads the game and revives when he has to and the shot is perfect into the left corner. Yeah and Sainz didn't clear it Joe and they come again. The midfield's disappeared in this game. Clark wants more. Into the box. Pokes it against the post off the keeper and back out. Wow. J Charles comes in for a tackle. He just pokes it with his toe. Hits the post and into Peris' hand and goes up for a corner. Very close. Jack Clark has had a really good impact on the game for Hitschwitz. Sainz had it back and that's a good ball from Wood to Sienza. Sienza near the edge of the penalty area. Mann on his outside. Feeds it inside to Janda. Gets it back. Wants to make room for the shot. Still hasn't made the shot. Brie has it. He puts it into the six yard area. Stewart nods it down. The flag goes up but I can't help thinking Sienza would have been better off having a go. Yeah he could have had a shot but he didn't find the angle or the balance for it Adam and we're running out of time and energy it looks like and we've got to watch out so we don't lose this game as well. Hitschwitz win it back. Sainz have lost possession. They're coming forward now. The Tractor Boys looking for that winner to get promoted. Clark into the box on the left. Wants it on his right foot. Goes to his left foot and just wide. It must have brushed the outside of the post. It's a save Adam. It's a save from Perez. Brilliant save by Perez with his left hand there Adam to keep it out. It might be a precious point for Sainz come Saturday afternoon after the 12.30 game.
