A discussion of Romans 11;25-27, all Israel shall be saved and the fulfillment of God's covenant to Israel, many of whom became the enemies of the gospel. Yet this did not deter God from keeping his covenant promise to them to save them from their sins. In this message we develop the remnant to show how God narrowed down the promise to one man with Israel's full approval, demonstrating that only a remnant would be saved.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, this is William Bell. I want to welcome you to another edition of All Bible Prophecy Fulfilled podcast

We also as always encourage you to bring an open mind an open heart an open Bible
So that we can have an understanding of the Word of God. Let God open our hearts to understand now today
We're gonna be talking on the subject all Israel shall be saved now
We're gonna look at Romans chapter 11 verses 25 through 27, which is a very very
Highly controversial text on some in some circles in other circles. It is pretty much an unknown text
You might could call it because nobody says but very much about it. However in this study
We're going to address it without going through an entire
Discussion of Romans chapter 11
We're just going to look at a few points regarding Romans 11 25 through 27 for now at some future time
we will do a complete and thorough study of the
11th chapter of Romans to talk about the salvation that was coming to the remnant among Israel
But nevertheless, let's go ahead and take a look at Romans chapter 11 and the verses begin at verse
25 and then through 27 now the scripture says
For I do not desire brethren that you should be ignorant of this mystery
Lest you should be wise in your own opinion less or that blindness in part has happened to Israel
Until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in and so all Israel will be saved as it is written
The Deliverer will come out of Zion and he will turn away ungodliness from Jacob
Well, this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins now we have
several elements involved in the passage and we want to talk about some of them, of course as
We said this is talking about the salvation of Israel
It's primarily talking about the salvation of the remnant now
How do we know that it's talking about the remnant among Israel and not everyone in Israel in
Romans chapter 9 actually
beginning as early as Romans chapter 2 Paul begins to define
What in Israel light is he says in Romans 2 verse 28 and 29?
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly
Nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh, but he is a Jew who is one inwardly
and
Circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit not in the letter whose praise is not from men but from God now
We want to define what in the letter versus in the spirit means
in the letter means to be under Torah to be following Torah as your means of
Salvation and Paul indicated in Romans chapter 10 that that was not quite possible because he says brethren
My heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is now he's talking about Israel according to the flesh
Israel who sought their salvation through Torah, but he says my prayer
to God is
That Israel might be saved for I bear them record that they have a zeal for God and nobody denies
that Israel had a zeal for God Paul expressed that in his relationship with
Following Torah
Because he said concerning zeal
persecuting the church
Now you couldn't get any more zealous than that because it was Paul's aim when he went to bed at night
When he rose up in the morning and all throughout the day
to see
That the Christians those who were called of the way
Would be put away in other words Paul wanted to cast them into oblivion
He wanted to destroy the church and that's what he said in Galatians chapter 1. He said I
persecuted the church and
Wasted it and then when he recounts his former behavior, he says but they were hearing only
He who formerly?
Persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy
So it was his aim to destroy
Christianity, however
The Lord Jesus Christ had other plans for him that he had not quite
considered so in the letter therefore meant to be walking according to Torah, but now in the Spirit
Meant to be following the Lord Jesus Christ
under the operation of the Spirit that was poured out on the day of Pentecost and
As you know, we've been talking about the work of the Holy Spirit and we've also talked about the birth payings
But those subjects are interconnected and you're gonna see that
When we get to the verse in this connection, and I hope we do have time to get to it
But in the Spirit meant that they were walking according to the Holy Spirit that had been poured out as promised and in Joel
You will note that the Holy Spirit was poured out
for the benefit of
the remnant Joel chapter 2
Verses 28 through 32 the scripture focuses on the remnant
So let's take a look at that very quickly in Joel chapter 2 and the verses begin at verse
28 the scripture says and it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy your old men shall dream dreams your young men shall see visions and
Also on my men servants and on my maidservants, I will pour out my spirit in those days
So we're talking about the work of the Spirit ladies and gentlemen
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth blood and fire and pillars of smoke
The Sun shall be turned into darkness. That's Matthew 24 in verse 29, by the way and the moon into blood
before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord and
It shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved
For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, there shall be deliverance as the Lord has said among the remnant
whom the Lord calls so it says among the remnant whom the Lord calls and
therefore what we're looking at is the Holy Spirit being given to the remnant among Israel and
the remnant was determined by their
acceptance of Jesus Christ and
That tells us also
that this separated them from the rest of
Israel who were Torah only followers in Galatians the third chapter Galatians chapter 3
Beginning at verse 1 Paul says Oh foolish Galatians
Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified
This only I want to learn from you. Did you receive the Spirit?
by the works of the law
That's Torah. Ladies and gentlemen or by the hearing of faith. Are you so foolish?
Having begun in the spirit
See that's operating under the realm of the Spirit under the prophecy of Joel. Are you now being perfected?
by the flesh
Those in the flesh were walking under the letter the law could not deliver them from the flesh
It's what Romans 8 says what the law could not do in that
It was weak through the flesh
God did in sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh that the
Righteousness or righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk after the flesh
But after the spirit Romans chapter 8
verses 1 through 4
That's why there was no condemnation to those who walked in the spirit and not in the flesh. And so he said
Have you suffered so many things in vain?
He's talking about the birth pains the persecutions
If indeed it was in vain
That's the child not coming forth
in birth
Paul is saying it's not in vain. Let's keep going. Let's keep moving forward
therefore he who supplies the spirit to you and
Works miracles among you does he do it by the works of Torah or by the hearing of faith?
You see that rhetorical question is to be answered in the affirmative
by the hearing of faith and not in the negative
by following Torah only and therefore
Those who were in the spirit were called the Jews the true Jews
Had nothing to do with the blood in their veins or their physical lineage to Abraham and that is further established in Romans 9
We're talking about who the remnant was Romans 9 chapter 6. I mean chapter 9 verse 6
The Bible says but it is not that the Word of God has taken no effect for they are not all Israel who are of
Israel so in other words Israel was actually smaller
Than the nation of Israel
We're talking about true Israel ladies and gentlemen, and the scripture says nor are they all children?
Because they are the seed of Abraham. He discounts the seed relationship
That is the natural seed to Abraham
That's why John the Baptist said when he saw the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism
He says do not even think
Within yourselves to call yourselves the sons of Abraham for God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham
Therefore bring forth fruit meat for repentance
He says change your hearts be circumcised in heart and ears and then you can become
children of Abraham then I'll baptize you for the remission of your sins and
You will have a true circumcision in the heart not in the flesh and thus he says in Romans 9
These are not the children of God, but the children of the promise are
counted as the seed
Now the Bible says if the inheritance were of the law it is no longer of promise
But God gave it to Abraham by promise and he gave him that
430 years before
Torah was given and so he says
that is
The children those who are the children of the flesh
See, they are in the flesh
The law couldn't deliver them out of the flesh
These are not the children of God. We should underline the word not it's spelled n o t
These are not and I'm not trying to insult your intelligence by spelling out the word
That is a means of emphasis
So that we can get the fact that he said some in Israel were not the children of God
Even though they had Abraham's blood in their veins
These are not the children of God, but the children of the promise accounted as the seed
Well, this is the word of promise at this time
I will come and Sarah shall have a son, but he said and not only this see here's another
further
Narrowing down of who Israel was
Because Jacob whose name was changed to Israel
was the son of
Isaac but so was Esau a natural son of Isaac and God said I will not have
Esau
Jacob have I loved Esau have I hated and so the scripture says
For this is the word of promise at this time
I will come and Sarah shall have a son and not only this so you can't stop at Sarah and
Just say you are a son of Abraham
and Sarah
meaning Isaac, but he further narrows that down and
Goes a step further. He says and not only this verse 10, but when Rebecca
Had conceived by one man even by our father Isaac
for the children not yet being born
Nor having done any good or evil. So here's the point
We do not take this text and start talking about Esau selling his birthright or Esau
Becoming an enemy of Jacob or even the Edomites
who were their
rival enemies and
Who were saying raise it raise it to Israel until God destroyed them the text here says
For the children not yet being born
Nor having done any good or evil
So this is not about which one was better than the other
Morally speaking or in the in the in the way that they walked in
The faith the Bible says God made this choice
Before the children were born before they had done anything
Good or evil?
Why that the purpose that's the reason this is the word that
Hena a conjunction of purpose in order. That is what it means the purpose of God
according to election election means a choice just like when you go out to the polls and
Vote you're making a decision. At least you think you are, you know, it's like
Zigzag Ler told the story one day about the man who?
Went to the doctor and he had some problems and
The doctor told him he was gonna have to change his diet
And he says you can eat anything
That you want to eat and he said now here's a list of the things that you're gonna want to eat
and so when you're not given or choice or when your choice is
between
You know two evils, then you just choose the lesser of two evils in some cases
So do you really have a choice in that case?
But see this was God's choice before the boys were born before the children were born and he said
that
His purpose according to election might stand not of works
But of him who calls if we made this dependent upon
Jacob living a better life than Esau then it would have been according to works and God says it's not that but he said
Not of works, but of him who calls
It was said to her the older shall serve the younger as it is written Jacob
I have loved but Esau have I hated now that was God's choice because God is
The Potter and men are the clay and he can do whatever he wills because he's a sovereign ruler now Israel did not complain
When God chose Isaac over Ishmael
Nor did they complain when he chose Jacob over Esau
Which meant that
Even among the descendants of Abraham God narrowed it down to a remnant to a smaller
number than
where they started and
So true Israel is not the entire nation
true Israel was narrowed down to a remnant in the Lord Jesus Christ and
The Torah only followers
Didn't quite get it
Someone they had the memo. They just didn't read it properly now in
Romans chapter 11
after Paul talks about the fact and he quotes from
Isaiah 28 16 and
Also the context of Joel because they both talk about the remnant
When he makes the statement for whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved
But he says how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of whom
they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher and
How shall they preach unless they are sent as it is written?
How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace who bring glad tidings of good things
But they have not all obeyed
the gospel
See, that's where the rubber meets the road. That's where the remnant is being determined
It's being determined in obedience and that's what he means in
Romans 9
27 and 28 when he quotes
From Isaiah saying Isaiah also cries concerning Israel though
The number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea
The remnant will be saved
For he will finish the work and cut it short in
righteousness
because the Lord will make a short work all upon the earth and
As Isaiah said before unless the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed
We would have become like Sodom and Gomorrah the whole nation would have been destroyed
But he didn't destroy the whole nation of Israel. He only destroyed the rebellious among them and
spared and saved and delivered the remnant and so he says we would have been made like Gomorrah
and thus
They asked the question
Have they not all obeyed the gospel Isaiah says Lord who has believed our report?
So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, but I say have they not heard?
Yes, indeed
Their sound has gone out to all the earth and their words to the ends of the world
But I say did Israel not know for Moses said I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation
I will move you to anger by a foolish nation
But Isaiah is very bold and says I was found by those who did not seek me
I was made manifest to those who did not ask for me, but to Israel he says all the day long
I have stretched out my hand to a disobedient and contrary people
So the majority of the nation fell back and that's why the question was raised in Romans 11 in verse 1
Certainly not for I also am an Israelite of the seed of Abraham of the tribe of Benjamin
God has not cast away his people whom he foreknew or do you not know that the scripture says of Elijah how he pleads with God?
Against Israel saying Lord they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars and I alone am left and they seek my life
But what does the divine response say to him?
I have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to bail even so at this present time
There is a remnant
According to the election of grace. You see grace determined the remnant ladies and gentlemen grace was in Jesus Christ
the law came by Moses grace and truth came by Jesus Christ and the grace of God came teaching that denying ungodliness and
Ungodly lust unrighteousness and ungodly lust we should live soberly righteously and godliness present age and so they were to follow
Christ now, that's what determined the remnant and so when Paul writes in Romans 11 25
So all Israel shall be saved the all Israel refers to the remnant not to the whole nation
But we're gonna have to pick this up in the next broadcast
