Today we take a journey to arguably the best rock in the world...the RED RIVER GORGE in Kentucky. If you haven't been yet, you are missing out.
Welcome back to another episode of the Gravity Lab.
This time we're visiting a place that's always felt like home to me, the Red River Gorge.
I know it sounds crazy, me, sport climbing. However, we're going to showcase an absolutely
sick route, Jesus Wep, and stick around until the end for a historic announcement
that's going to shape the Red River Gorge for years to come.
All right, clipping.
Buck it up now.
The historic announcement today is about a new land procurement by the RRGCC,
the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition. They do incredible work securing, developing,
and protecting climbing areas around Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Some of the sickest rock
in the world. Don't believe me? Come check it out for yourself.
My name is Tara. I work for the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition,
and I'm standing on some of our brand new property as part of the Ashland acquisition.
If you haven't heard of the coalition, we are a non-profit organization that is dedicated
to securing public access to rock climbing, as well as conservation of the lands in which
we climb in the Red River Gorge, Kentucky. We've been around since 1996, so almost 30 years,
and since then, we have secured public access to a little over 1,800 acres of rock climbing.
You might have heard of some of our properties, including PMRP, MFRP, CRP, BRRP, and the all-new
CFRP. Right now, we're focusing on getting this land opened up to rock climbing as soon as
possible for the public, and that means building sustainable infrastructure such as trails,
belay bases, and parking lots. And if you know anything about the coalition, you know that we're
always thinking about what's next on the horizon. You can help support this growth by considering
donating directly to the Ashland campaign, or consider becoming a member of the ROGCC,
where you can become a part of the team that helps protect and expand climbing in the Red River Gorge.
Thanks for watching. Don't be afraid to donate or become a member today.
