If you’re constantly cutting off zip ties and throwing them away, there’s a better option. Today I’m reviewing Cord-Tie, a thicker, reusable, UV-resistant strap built for real shop and outdoor use.
Zip ties were invented in 1958 to permanently bundle aircraft wiring, but Cord-Tie updates that concept for reusable, outdoor, and adjustable applications.
Most of us use zip ties for all sorts of tasks.
The problem? Zip ties were originally designed in 1958 to permanently bundle aircraft wiring. They lock once and stay locked. That’s great for electrical cables and gear. Not so great when you’re constantly cutting them off in the shop or outdoors.
In this episode, I’m reviewing Cord-Tie, a thicker, reusable, UV-resistant fastening strap designed to handle real-world shop and outdoor use.
You’ll see: • How Cord-Tie differs from standard nylon zip ties • How the thicker strap protects cords and hoses • How reusable ties can save time and reduce waste
Cord-Tie really shines in applications like:
– Extension cord and hose organization – RV and trailer cord management – ATV and farm equipment wiring – Temporary fencing or seasonal setups
Instead of snipping and replacing ties over and over, Cord-Tie lets you adjust, reposition, and reuse.

Hey, Dirt Farmer Jay from DirtFarmerJay.com.
Have I found the replacement for most cable tie uses?
Maybe so, stay tuned and I'll tell you all about it.
Hey, Dirt Farmer Jay here.
Recently, I came across these cable tie type devices.
They're similar, but very different in some key aspects.
If you're like me and you're tired
of throwing away cable ties
because they're made for a one-time use,
then these may be something to consider.
Well, let's take a look at them.
Like you, I have a collection of these cable ties.
They're used for all sorts of things,
but many times they're used on something
that is only temporarily fastened.
And these, while they're made for one-time use
and generally for what they are called cable ties,
electrical use or electrical panel work,
that sort of thing, they're not meant to unloosen.
So you end up cutting them off.
Well, we think we found a better way.
These are called cord tie, and while they look simple
and look similar to the other cable ties,
they're superior in several respects.
Number one, quite a bit thicker, very supple.
They are UV resistant.
There is material that's placed in both the black
and the yellow renditions that allow it
to be in the sun more without going brittle.
These can be curved back on themselves like that
and then pulled through.
And here's another neat little trick.
Let's suppose you were using that for a air hose
or an outdoor hose or an extension cord.
You can also take the tip and loop it back
through the second slot right there,
and you end up with a way to hang it just like that.
And once the task is done and you want
to release everything, it's also very easy.
You can pull it back out, simply hold on the tab here,
pull in the direction, and there's enough resistance
that it'll hold it in place, but it's also,
you can undo it and it's ready to go to work again.
We have these in two different lengths.
These are 20 inches long.
These are 32 inches long.
And as you can see, the 32 inch ones come in a pack
of four, whereas this comes in a pack of eight.
Now, these are normally the prices for a package of these.
The longer ones is around, listed around $29.95.
These were listed at $24.99.
Currently, I was just looking up on the site
and they have them both on sale for around $22.
Now, they've also provided me a promo code
just to say thank you, if this is something
you're interested in.
You can see the promo code below in the description,
but also you'll get 10% off if you go
to the website listed below,
or just use the promo code DIRTFARMERJ,
all one word, and you'll get 10% off your order.
Well, I think these are well-engineered, reasonably priced.
The cost of ownership, the longer you use them
and the longer you have them in your use,
the less they're gonna cost per use.
So instead of doing throwaways over and over again,
you can use something that's gonna go long-term
and you'll find plenty of uses for these
around your home, shop, and yard.
So as you can see, it's a great product, really easy to use.
