Good morning. Good morning. It's quite soft down there so you're going to have to
keep up quite a bit of speed as you go down. Don't go slowly okay? Okay. With speed and gravity you
should be okay. Choose your line well and try not to get stuck. Good morning.
Yeah, good morning. Of all the people that have driven the Kombi, Tamara is definitely one of
the most capable. Nicely done Tamara. Nicely done. Wait for me, wait for me. Nicely done.
My heart's thumping. I can't believe we did that. I can't believe we made it.
All before breakfast as well. All before breakfast. All before our adventure today too.
It was a bit deep that wasn't it? Yes and I feel like I went through the deepest part as well.
All right, just for extra fun. Why not? All right, come on. Adventure time. Let's go.
All aboard. Beep beep. Beep beep. Our current compass bearing is north as we road trip through Portugal.
We're only about 40 kilometers outside of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon and there is still
plenty of nature to be enjoyed. Today I've lined up a bucket list adventure for Tamara. Something
she has always dreamed of doing and to help us with that we're meeting up with the Kombi crew
member Miguel. Hola amigo. Hola. Ciao. What was that? How are you? Some of you might recognize Miguel.
Last time we were in Portugal a few years previously he showed us great Portuguese
hospitality. He helped us really get to know the Portuguese culture and took us to some pretty
cool places and he even helped us get a Portuguese passport for Alaska which has been a game changer
for Alaska's travel freedom. In short Miguel is a Kombi life legend and once again he's helped
us organize today's adventure. Hi. Beautiful dog. This is Charlie. Is it Charlie?
Oh, you've got a slobbery mouth. Look at that.
English. English.
There's an interesting story about this. What's it called? So this is like a toasted flour.
This used to be used by the fishermen here in Sezimbos. So this is like a
delicacy from the land and they used to do this because it can stay longer times when you're in
the ocean and you can eat it and because it's with a lot of sweet you have like the energy that
you need it for a long time on the sea. So every time we go to do scuba diving climbing here or
something like that we do like the fishermen do and we eat this and it's really really tasty.
Oh wow. It's really good. Yeah she puts it a little bit in the microwave just for the chocolate
Next up Tamra is off on an awesome bucket list adventure but before we get there let's have a
quick look at this awesome piece of tech from today's sponsor All Powers. This is the very
reasonably priced All Powers R2500 power station. Powerful enough to be used to power your entire
camper van or boat and it can be used as an off-grid power supply for a cabin or when you're
camping and it's an excellent home backup power option in case of a blackout or emergency. All
Powers has a range of power station models this is the R2500 it comes with 2016 watt hours of
lithium ion phosphate batteries. Those are the good batteries by the way the ones that last for
3500 complete charge cycles and are really fast to recharge which is what you want in a power
station. The R2500 has four different ways to recharge and it can be recharged in as little
as one hour if you combine the charging methods. So we've got AC where you plug it straight into
you can also recharge it via the vehicle separate adapter which goes into your vehicle 12 volt
socket or to be fully off-grid you can charge it from the sun. This beauty is the All Powers SP37
400 watt foldable solar panel yes 400 watt it really is a decent amount of solar and it comes
in this compact unit which can be stored away when not in use. It's definitely portable weighing in
about 40 pounds or 18 kilograms and it has an efficiency rating of 22% which is great. It's
water resistant as you'd expect and it also has this adjustable kickstand on the back to optimize
the angle of the sunlight absorption which today I definitely need. The R2500 has 13 versatile
sockets for pretty much all of your devices including the USB fast chargers and multiple
AC sockets. It also has a 15 millisecond UPS feature so it can basically be used as a backup
power supply in the home and it will automatically fail over and pick up the energy consumption of
those devices so that's really important for like fridges and freezers you're out and there's a
power cut this thing will kick in take over the load and keep your food fresh and depending on
your particular needs you can actually expand the All Powers R2500 with three additional B1000
expansion packs bringing the total capacity up to 5472 watt hours. Impressive it's actually
extremely reasonably priced in fact you can actually get the All Powers power station and
the foldable solar panels for less than the cost of some other brands power station. So go check
it out I'll link it below if you're interested. Thanks so much to All Powers and thanks to you
guys. Now let's get back to that bucket list lifelong dream adventure. We're on our way we're
on our way to a very special adventure I won't be taking part in this one this one's just for you.
It is and it's something I've been wanting to do for a very long time I can't wait.
There they are oh my goodness I can't wait so close I can't wait for you guys to see you later.
This is Paolo our guide for the day from We Love Horses Mecco and this is Nona. She's taking me
on my adventure today she's still pretty young and is let's say spirited. What do you think is
she a good size for you? I think she's a good size he says little I think this is really the
sort of size I'm used to. Paolo is clearly a master horse handler but I am not which is why
I'm sitting this one out. Honestly I've always been a little bit wary of horses but that wasn't
helped when young Nona suddenly span and kicked me. Ouch! I'd like to say though in my defense
I saw that coming and I was did you see that? I didn't I just moved and I was still kicking the
leg. Did he still get you? Yeah. Wow they kick hard don't they? Yeah. Oh I've received when I was a
kid one in the in the chest I just flew so this is hard but normally when you're on top of them
that doesn't happen because that's why you never be hard like in the rear end.
She spun really quickly she turned around very quickly. Oh that's so sore so sore
ouch this is why I don't ride horses they don't like me.
You have a good time though. I think I need to go get some painkillers for this.
Good luck Tamara. That was your horse right?
It's okay. It's quite painful though I will say that. It is. But I think it's not broken.
These are wild Portuguese horses. What have you got me into? Does that make you more nervous or?
Definitely. Definitely? Yeah. And after having seen the horse go around in circus as well she's
got some beans in her little nonna. She's young so I think it's a bit of a challenge I'm gonna
have now. Yeah. Nervous or excited when she just left then but good luck to her.
Isn't this amazing? I grew up riding horses and luckily I have a horse back home but I don't
have a lot of experience riding other horses so it's always exciting and a little nerve-wracking
riding a new horse. And today we're riding through a pine forest and across the sand dunes
which means I get to ride on the beach for the very first time and that is a dream come true.
Look at this view. Oh my goodness. Wow. It's so steep. It looks so majestic as those horses just
appeared over the top of the sand dunes and descended down the sand dunes. That must have
incredible to come down there on horseback. The horses, I'm surprised they weren't fazed by the
size of the waves. They're absolutely ginormous here today. Crashing down thunderous waves.
Such a wild coastline right here. Unbelievable. What a setting. What a beautiful experience that
must have been. Can't wait to see how it was for Tamela. A little bit jealous I didn't do it. Wish
I could have done that. Very envious and a lot of respect for Tamela and for Miguel for being able to
do it. Really such a cool experience. So that was the big adventure. Went horse riding and I got to
do what I'd always dreamed of from a little girl. I got to ride on the beach. We got to Gallop
and it was amazing. Thank you Benja. Thank you Miguel. And we didn't die. And thank you Paolo.
Yeah we didn't die. Paolo for having us, inviting us, guiding us. He's amazing. How was it coming
down the dunes? That looks amazing. You saw the beach and came down? It was like this and then
at one point where we were near the bottom I turned around and I looked up and I was thinking
oh heck that is so steep. It was so much fun and you just lean back and you just let the horse go
and the way their feet sink as well into the sand. Beautiful. I wish it were there.
What's it called in Portuguese? Lingarão. How do you catch it because we have this in Jersey
and I've never been able to catch it and I've never tried it and I've always wanted to.
Old and best way is put salt when the nose comes out you just grab it and pull it. So when I was
a kid I was like my fingers were all cut because I wanted to be fast and it's sand of course it's
wet sand. I was like all the fingers just because I wanted to eat. That's why I wanted to be with
you in Algarve because my family is in the island and we do this every day so at the time the tide
goes down we go and catch the seafood yeah and at night we eat it so we do that every day. Sounds
actually delicious. This trip and for the next one that we'll meet again.
It's 24.06 we've just finished our nice Portuguese lunch slash dinner slash no more food for the rest
of the day. Unbelievable. I love eating in Portugal but it will be the death of me. Honestly as soon as
we get to where we're headed I'm passing out. Tomorrow we are meeting Miguel for lunch and
dinner in different places. I'm worried we won't have time to get between the restaurants.
Love Portugal. Love it. Love Miguel too. We're gonna try to find a place to camp
for the night somewhere amongst these pine trees. Plenty of space. Absolutely beautiful my god yeah
Plenty of space and the smell here too. Alaska is our tour guide.
I think I just found us a spot. I think Alaska found us. Let's use the trusty level device.
Ah oh ---- I'm so sorry. It's not level. Come on. Come on. A bit more.
We've hardly moved in. Come on Alaska help push. Wait let it roll and then
Are we level yet? We're level. Where did you want to go? A bit more, a bit more, a bit more.
You're not pushing anymore. What did that happen? She said just push it.
Okay my turn. Go on. Holy crap. I haven't even picked up this as a baby.
That is Lisboa. We are driving into a capital city. This is the first time I've ever let
anybody else drive in a capital city. Really? That goes to show the confidence
by having you with all of this rush hour traffic and the first bit of rain we've seen in...
Have you been to Lisbon before? Never. You? No never. And we are going off to meet Miguel
We made it. Our indoor adventure.
First time climbing indoor in Portugal. There's nothing like this in Jersey. Definitely no big
climbing centre like this at all. You've got it in the UK but for me this is like new, it's novel,
it's so awesome to be here. It's a great toy. Yeah it's brilliant and great to do on a day when
it's raining and it's even dog friendly. Thank you Miguel for taking us here. I love it. Where is
Miguel? Let's go for a beer. This place is one of my favourite restaurants in Portugal. I've heard
a lot about it so I'm very curious. Sounds already like a lot of fun. Cultural centre.
She's so happy. This is what you wanted to show me.
Look they have all the collections. I think we discovered a lot of the passions.
Last time we visited Miguel he brought us to this local's lunch restaurant at the
Neighbourhood Football Association. For us it's the best value and some of the best tasting food
in all of Portugal and the staff here are just incredible so we definitely wanted to return.
I remember this one. You remember this one?
They call it pyjamas so it's a little bit of everything. I like it, I like it.
Sara is 3A's best friend for 17 years. Really? Yeah she wasn't here before but he asked her to
come here and work with him so they've been friends, they live alongside for 17 years.
He had 17, he had 19 when they started to be the best friends. I have two children.
Have two kids, yeah. Okay let's try the pyjama and try it. So enjoy.
Okay can I just pick a point out? There are three of us and four pieces. This is my plate.
No, no, no. So what happens? One is mine and then half, half, half. This is all for me.
I don't know.
The mint is from the plant behind us. When did he get this?
Hey, this is my plate.
These guys are amazing here. I've never seen this. Such a good experience,
love coming here. Thank you for bringing us Miguel. No, no, thank you because you wanted to come.
I'd like to point out that I'm actually here. It's not a date with these two boys.
Look we got a gift. He said this is from Cecimbra. Yeah it's a coral. It's a coral from Cecimbra.
This is such a great place. I hope you get a chance to come to this place. If you ever come
to Lisboa, come to this restaurant right here. It's really cool. Our last stop in Lisboa was
to visit Miguel at his workplace where he was going to help us search for our next camper van.
We made a bonus video about that where we tour some of the newest models of adventure van being
released and explore some of the cool tech that they have. You can find that over on our Patreon
page. So if you're a Combi Crew member or you'd like to unlock hundreds of bonus posts and support
our series, go check it out. It's linked below. Thanks for watching and until next time, happy
