Environmental science is an interdisciplinary science,
which basically means multiple disciplines come together
to study the systems of the Earth
and the impact that man has on the Earth.
Within the environmental science field,
we work with biology, physics, statistics, chemistry.
Those are all very important.
We have a lot to tackle in terms of climate change.
We have our plastics. They're everywhere.
Use of energy and different types of energy resources.
Food insecurity is a really big thing.
Do people have access to fresh food?
What areas are lacking that access?
That's just a few of the issues that sort of touch the surface
of some of the problems right now.
There's a lot to be done,
and I've seen a lot of my friends graduate and succeed,
and it makes me really hopeful for the next year.
Based on government statistics,
the field of environmental science is growing.
It's growing faster than average.
There's a lot of different options.
You could work as a laboratory scientist.
You could be a field scientist.
There's this whole field known as corporate sustainability.
You could be working with regulatory agencies.
So a lot of different sectors
that use people who have knowledge of the environment.
I'm very, very excited for what my future holds,
and wherever I end up or whatever I end up doing,
as long as I get to help the environment as much as I can.
I realized how much I valued the world that we live in
and how much I love just being outside,
and trying to share that love of the outdoors with others
has really been my passion.
