Now this is a rarely seen before moment, a face-off between a venomous prairie rattlesnake
and a predatory prairie kingsnake. Most animals will heed the rattlesnake's warning because they
won't want to receive a venomous bite. Oh, rattlesnake venom doesn't even affect him,
making the kingsnake a deadly predator of the rattlesnake. Like he does with all his prey,
the kingsnake swallows the rattlesnake whole. Uh, well, that's nature.
Whoa! Jimmy was right. This is weird. Who did that? Hung all those insects up like that?
I don't know, but we've got another creature mystery on our hands, bro.
A weasel? Gotta be some kind of predator. Only one way to find out.
A stakeout! We'll get mini-sized so whoever it is won't even see us spying on them.
Miniaturized!
All right, the mystery of the prairie thornbush has begun.
Okay, all is quiet right now. Just a cute little gray birdie at the top of that bush.
Ooh, check it out. A prairie kingsnake basking down below. Huh? He got the snake!
What? That little songbird thinks he's an eagle or something. I know, he just has little stick
legs, not talons. And he's tiny. Who is that guy? Oh no, it's another one.
That one's taking Martin clear across the prairie. What is with these little gray birds?
Oh, you again. With a snake. I don't believe it. It's him. That's the guy who's been thorning
things. The little mass gray songbird. Mystery solved. Uh-oh. Martin, those gray songbirds,
they're the ones doing the thorning. What? Uh, you're not going to...
Uh, Chris? I've been thorned. Look, I don't know why they're doing this,
but I've almost got an idea on these birds.
Ah-ha, it's a loggerhead shrike. Uh-oh, that's one of the opossum's worst natural predators.
I gotta help her. Oh, but I can't. Jill, look out. Whoa, she looks pretty tough,
but opossums are all bluff and bluster. They're really not very tough at all.
I wish I could help her. Of course. The amazing opossum trick defense. Play dead.
Chris. Oh no. Jill. Don't worry. She's okay. She's playing dead. And it works. By pretending
she's dead, the opossum shuts off the coyote's predator instinct. Most predators would rather
not eat something that's already dead, so they end up leaving her alone. You're kidding. Now
that opossum deserves an acting award. Actually, she's not exactly pretending. It just happens
automatically when the opossum's in trouble. She couldn't stop it if she wanted to. He's gone. Wake
up, Jill. Jill? You can't wake an opossum up from this. They have to just come out of it themselves.
Weird. Uh, could I get a hand with this rock?
Okay, okay. Easy, guys. I told you, you can't snack on the babysitter. Did someone say snack?
Martin, you made it. Oh yeah, and I brought panther snacks. Ta-da. Yeah, I brought food
for the hungry cubs. I am the panther provider, the greatest hunter in the swamp.
You again? No. Hang on. That's for swat.
He ate it. And he's still hungry. Crunch. Swat. Oh no.
Panther, she's back. I can't believe it. A rarely seen battle between a Florida panther
and an alligator. Gators will sometimes eat young panthers,
and panthers will sometimes eat young gators. But standoffs like these usually end in a draw.
Yes, she did it. She saved her cubs. Mama panther to the rescue. And look,
she even came with dinner. Looks like our cubsitting job is over. And here's our pickup.
Cokie, steer the amphisub closer so I can activate croc powers. Oh, missed him. Faster,
Cokie. He's heading out to sea. He must be after something. On it.
What? This croc is attacking a tiger shark. Go, Cokie, go. This is a never before seen moment.
Crocodile versus tiger shark. I can't believe it. Incredible. The crocodile is going right
at the shark. And the shark's not backing down. Whoa. Crocodiles are aggressive. Get us closer,
Cokie. I can almost touch him. Whoa. Whoa. He made one of the most aggressive sharks in the
world back down. The crocodile is so much more aggressive than an alligator because it lives in
a bigger, tougher environment. A point for team croc. The crocogator contest is tied. Two-two.
Well, that's lemurific timing. Activate lemur powers. We've got to do something about these
invading monkeys, buddy. Lemurs have all the abilities to compete with monkeys.
They just have to be more aggressive. I got you.
Gotcha. Hey, you hear something? She does. Whoa, look at those sharp teeth go. No wonder they
always keep growing. If you're chewing on trees like that. The only primate with ever growing
teeth. Right there. The aye-aye. Whoa, she's really digging for her treasure now. What will
she find in there? She's going to use that cool finger. I can't believe it. That finger is super
bendable with ball and socket joints that can go in any direction. She found a huge beetle army.
Nothing like a big old tasty grub for an aye-aye. They'll eat ramie nuts, nectar, and fungi too.
But digging out grubs is the aye-aye's specialty. We're just finding. Huh?
You're not a clue. Oh, no. Ring-tailed mongoose. Run.
You wouldn't eat us, would you? Squirrel. Not a time to pick up them.
Whoa. A rarely seen wildlife moment. This ring-tailed mongoose is not backing down.
He's looking for a way around those spines. But the tenrec's not backing down either.
And she points her spine defense right at him.
Whoa. Even charging and trying to ram the mongoose with the sharp spines around her head.
Oh, she got him. These tenrecs are quicker than they look. He's giving up. Nice defense,
Mama T. Hey, guys. It's safe to come out. The mongoose is gone. Guys? Hello? Where'd everybody
go? What do you think? Well, it kind of looks like he's praying. Exactly. And that's why he's
named a praying mantis. Because it looks like he's praying. But that's praying spelled P-R-A-Y-I-N-G.
Yeah. But a praying mantis is not praying to Ugba, the bug god. He's really praying. P-R-E-Y-I-N-G.
Like in predator and prey. Oh, I get it. Oh, no. Look out. She was there the whole time.
Camouflage as the color of the leaves. Hidden with her raptorial arms. Poised,
ready to strike at any time. Those arms are fascinating. Specially designed for hunting.
Raptorial arms. Praying mantis always eats her prey head first. Those raptorial arms are way
cool. I mean, this is one creature power suit I have to make. For sure. And one we have to test.
For sure. That's right. Put them all right in there until I have the robotics ready.
Huh? Let me see that one. Ew. That's one of the funnier looking pandas of the bunch.
Surprise. What? Blue boy? Come on, Zach. Give me a panda bear hug. No. But my new panda bot stuffed
toys will be irresistibly huggable. Zach, you gotta stop this. No kid wants a roboticized live
panda. They just want panda stuffed toys. Oh, look at that one. Hey, that's Aviva's panda stuffed toy.
No, I found it. Besides, you're just jealous because mine is gonna be way better than that.
Put panda boy away now. Not so fast. Pandas can be pretty tough when they need to be, you know.
Oh, this is tiring. And I'm hungry again.
Now I really get that we pandas have to keep eating to keep our energy up.
Now, you just stay there like a nice panda while I manufacture cute.
Manufacture cute? A pangolin.
Wow. A pango what? Pangolin. It's a kind of scaly anteater, but not really related to anteaters.
They're pangolins, pure and simple. They're in a family of their own.
And a pangolin has a really cool walk. They walk on their hind legs with their front paws in the
air, like a T-Rex. Hey, that's what I'm gonna call you. T-Rex. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second.
Back up. You explained to me why you never told Creature. I've never seen anything like it. I've
never heard of it. Nothing. You guys are supposed to tell me about cool animals, remember? Well, I
guess we forgot. Forgot? Yeah. Now we feel bad. It's not personal, T-Rex. T-Rex? Over there.
Uh-oh. Do something. You can't let anything happen to that pangolin. Wait for it.
A scaly suit of armor. Those lions can't get through with their sharp claws? Nope. It's all in
the keratin. Every scale is hard, thick, and super tough. You've got to be kidding me. A lion jaw can't
get through? Yeah, that's right. And those lions better be careful, because the edges of the scales
are sharp. They can cut a lion, and they're almost impossible to pry open once they're rolled up.
Wow. Yep. Not easy to get through that rock-solid defense. You don't mess with a pangolin.
Oh, no. It's Martin. Hey, Chris. See you at the finish line.
Hey, a lobster. Come over here, buddy. Ah, yes. The final stretch to the finish line, and it looks
like everyone's come out to cheer me on. Hey, sea urchins, anemones, how you doing?
Limpets, thank you. Thanks, mussels. Oh, hey, and another starfish. Great to be a buddy.
Uh-oh. Starfish smell receptors are smelling something dangerous. Something fishy is going on.
Something starfishy, that is. Now I recognize you. You're a sun star, a starfish-eating starfish.
Got to go full speed. Oh, no. He's gaming on me. If I can just make it to the finish line.
I'm giving up. I'll lose a limb before I lose this race. That's it. Starfish can detach arms
if they're in danger. Then the arm will grow back later. Detach. Detach. Detach. Detach.
I'm free. Good thing that's a spare arm. Now officially high top finish line is going to win
the starfish. Easy. Oh, yeah. I'm even going to win this with one less starfish arm.
Speeding to the finish with lobster power. Go hurry faster. Forget the race between the tortoise
and the hare. What about the sea star and the lobster? It's going to be close. Sorry, bro.
I've got lobster tail flick power. Sorry, back. I've got starfish suction arms.
Whoa. I can't see. Whoa. I can't see.
No, I won. No way. You haven't even finished crossing the line.
You left an arm back there. So I beat you by a sucker foot. Oh, no. Not again.
