In this May 2026 Astrology forecast, I look at the major planetary movements shaping the month, from Mars square Jupiter and Mercury square Pluto to the powerful new moon in Taurus, Mercury conjunct Uranus in Gemini, and the intense Mars square Pluto at the end of May.
I also share why this month feels like a turning point for personal awakening, psychological maturity, global change, and the future of astrology. Are we becoming more conscious, more reactive, or more ready to do the inner work?
This is also the final build-up to Shifts Happen 2026, an international astrology think tank bringing together Steve Judd, Rick Levine, Darby Costello, Penny Thornton, Alex Trenoweth and more, with livestream tickets available for those who want a virtual front row seat.
May is not just another month. It is a month of revelations, pressure points, shadow work, breakthroughs, and preparation for the bigger planetary shifts still to come in July 2026.
Shifts happen.
We are now offering live stream tickets
to one of the most immersive
and integrated astrological symposiums
that's ever happened and ever will.
These people aren't going to come back together again.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity
to see Steve Judd, Darby Costello,
Alex Chernowoff, Penny Thornton, and Rick Levine,
all in the same space at the same time.
And if you can't make it there in person,
and there are still day tickets
and residential tickets available, but a few,
you can buy a live stream ticket,
which, and even if you can't make it on the live stream
because of looking after the kids or you're working,
you'll still be able to watch the recording
for a limited amount of time afterwards.
But if you want to be at this gig
and have a virtual front row seat,
all the information is in the ticket form just below here.
Catch you in a few days.
Hi, folks.
So this is my astrological forecast
for the month of May, 2026.
So probably for the last time,
and I've got to get this in
because otherwise I'll get shot if I don't.
In 2026, May, 2026, I'm running Shifts Happen.
You've all seen the promo by now.
We, at the time of recording this,
we've got about 10 to 15 residential slots left.
We've got about 10 to 15 day visitor slots left,
and there's plenty of streaming tickets still available.
We've got people coming from
at least 22 different countries,
four different continents, age range from 16 to 81,
different religion, different color, different nationality,
at least three different genders, if not four,
all united by our love of astrology.
We've got people like me, Rick Levine, Darby Costello,
Penny Thornton, Alex Treneff.
We've got guest appearances
from Amanda Walsh at astrologyhub.com.
There's gonna be screenings of the documentary.
There's gonna be a particularly brilliant panel debate
between myself, Rick, and my friend Kayvan
on AI and astrology.
Be there will be an angular cubicle thing.
Now, May 2026.
It's been a crazy year so far.
Those of you who watch me regularly know
that at the start of the year,
I said that there's three critical points during 2026,
and those were January with all of the eclipses,
April with the seven-planet lineup in Aries,
and July with the big outer planetary lineups.
As we got into the seven-planet lineup in Aries
a couple of weeks ago, I remember thinking at the time,
just as it was happening, I'm thinking,
yeah, the situation in the world is absolutely crazy,
but this is not just about external world affairs.
This is about individuals.
The crazier the world situation has been in recent weeks,
the more individuals are waking up and going,
hey, this isn't right, this is wrong.
I don't want this to happen on my world, in my planet,
so not in my name,
and there seems to be a big surge forward
just in recent weeks in terms of personal accountability,
personal self-development and intuition,
personal conscience, people waking up and going,
this isn't right.
A lot of people are saying to me, I'm not sleeping right.
I seem to be constantly agitated.
Other people are going,
right, I've got to do something about this,
so they're getting out there and they're doing things,
not in a violent or aggressive way or confrontational.
We're not breaking the law or getting into trouble,
but they're making their voice heard.
Now, I can say to you that May is not going to be
as batshit crazy as April,
but May is going to have certain trigger points
and flashpoints.
It is going to be generally,
I'm not saying it's going to be quiet
and it's not going to be calm.
Israel is still going to be bombing Lebanon.
There's still going to be ongoing,
internalizing violence between Palestine and Israel.
Russia and Ukraine are still going to be
hammering the hell out of each other.
And the situation in the Gulf
is turning into the war without end.
This is going to lead to a global recession
by July, August.
And if we're not careful, it will be a global depression
and then we're really in deep trouble.
But May, May has got three standalone points.
Firstly, is the period around the 5th and the 6th of May,
when all of a sudden three separate things
all happen within 24 hours of each other.
There's a Mars square to Jupiter in the sky.
Mars will be at about 17, 18 degrees of Aries
and Jupiter will be at about 17, 18 degrees of Cancer.
I think it's more like 19 actually,
something like that, 1920.
But Mars square Jupiter,
it's like someone's rammed too many energizer batteries
in places where they shouldn't.
It's an angle of exuberance and over-optimism
and largesse and vibrancy, but it's not nasty.
It's not aggressive or violent.
It's just over-exuberant, over-bouncy, overjoyous.
No such word is enough.
But at the same time, Mercury would have left Aries
and moved into early Taurus
and be squaring Pluto at the same time.
So with Mars squaring Jupiter,
there's quite likely to be a lot of optimism.
Oh, we've made this fantastic deal
and it's all gonna be all right.
And Mercury squaring Pluto at the same time going,
yeah, don't believe a word of it.
There's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.
There's a lot of underhand, manipulative, coercive,
subversive stuff going on in the background
that's not visible yet,
but when it does come up, we'll all be disgusted.
Add to this that on the 5th, 6th of May,
Pluto will stand still and start going retrograde.
Pluto is going to be at 5 degrees, 30 minutes
of Aquarius for two weeks.
It's gonna be the same minute, the same degree for two weeks
in the first two weeks of May.
And with Mercury squaring Pluto on the 5th, 6th,
it does suggest that something not transparent
and underhand is gonna be going on.
The word stockpiles comes to my mind.
Fast forward.
Fast forward 10 days.
Actually, I'm gonna jump back just a little bit
because at the start of May,
we have the once every year Scorpio full moon.
And this is taking place around 10 degrees of Aries.
I'm guessing here,
because I don't have my ephemeris with me,
but it's not aspecting anything else in the sky, seriously.
So I don't see this as being that dramatic, a full moon,
apart from the fact that it's a Scorpio full moon.
But nevertheless, just because it's unaspected
doesn't mean it won't be strong.
So it's obviously going to affect certain individuals,
but I don't see it as representative
of any massive changes in the world gestalt.
That's more the Mars squared Jupiter
and Mercury squared Pluto on the same day,
on the 5th or 6th.
And for that matter,
there will also be another full moon in May.
I think it's May the 31st,
might be the 30th or 31st, depending on your time zone.
And that will be around eight, nine degrees of Sagittarius.
Now that's quite nice.
That's going to be loosely trining Saturn
and sextiling Pluto.
But again, nothing to majorly write home about.
What I'm seriously looking at is the new moon.
The new moon is on the 15th, 16th of May.
It's at 25, 26, 27 degrees of Taurus.
It's conjuncting Mercury.
And it happens to be, when I'm launching shifts happen,
there's over a hundred people in person
and God knows how many in virtual.
Now, some conjunct Mercury,
conjunct moon, conjunct Mercury,
that's a great transit for a multimedia event.
But during the shifts period,
I think it's around the 17th,
Mercury will move into Gemini.
Now at the very end of April,
we had Venus conjunct Uranus at 29 degrees, 58 of Taurus.
Venus was conjuncting Uranus
and it was the last conjunction of a planet
to Uranus in Taurus for 77 years.
On the 17th of May,
Mercury will move into Gemini
and will immediately conjunct Uranus.
And this will be the first conjunction to Uranus in Gemini
for any planet apart from the moon for 77 years.
I love the sound of Mercury conjunct Uranus in Gemini.
Mercury is lower communication,
Uranus is upper communication.
Mercury deals with the way you read,
write, think, speak and move.
Uranus deals with computers and space travel
and cybernetics and the internet and everything.
Now, I think that Mercury conjunct Uranus in early Gemini,
the very start of Gemini on the 17th, 18th of this month
is gonna bring some type of revelation,
disclosure, opening.
I don't do predictions, I do forecasting.
But on fairly safe ground to say that around this time,
17th, 18th, there's gonna be some startling news
which will not be connected with economics, money, war
or the cult of celebrity.
It'll be to do with something brand new,
something that's gonna shape the world
hopefully in a really positive way.
And then we get the sting in the tail.
Around the 25th, 26th of May,
by then Mars will have moved well into early Taurus.
And over this time, the 25th, 26th of May,
Mars will square Pluto in Aquarius.
Mars square Pluto,
there is nothing lightweight about this aspect.
It is one of the most difficult aspects in astrology.
It is the unstoppable force against the immovable object.
Mars isn't that fond of being in Taurus
because Taurus is resilient, determined,
thorough, perseverant, sometimes stubborn,
not always the fastest on the block.
And Mars is all about action and I want it now.
Mars squaring Pluto,
it's about suppressed, repressed anger
suddenly coming to the surface.
This can be in a very explosive way.
When I say explosive, it'd be like a volcano.
It can be like a big bomb going off.
So it can be like an infantile child
with a gigantic sledgehammer
destroying, wrecking, ruining everything around it
in a nihilistic way.
It can equally be something that's sharp, incisive,
acute, and to the point,
and that cuts out poison without doing any other damage.
So for those of you born with planets
around five degrees of Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio,
I ask you, as you get towards the end of May,
do you want to be a sledgehammer
or do you want to be a laser or a scalpel?
I do draw comfort,
but at the same time as Mars is squaring Pluto,
the sun in the sky will be trining Pluto.
I think this takes out the worst scenario situations
of Pluto squaring Mars, that being nuclear.
But again, the word stockpile comes into mind
and I do suspect there will be attempts
by a combination of shadowy forces
or and Israeli stroke American forces
to in some way disempower Iranian stockpiles
of nuclear material.
I don't think this will get tremendously explosive
if that were to happen.
But, you know, the start of May with Mercury square Pluto,
as Pluto goes retrograde and Mars is square Jupiter
does seem a little bit like blustering,
lots of noise, lots of words,
lots of manipulation going on.
He said this, she said this, you made me do it.
And the end of May with Mars square Pluto
and the sun trine Pluto is very incisive.
In the middle of May, that's hopeful.
Mercury conjunct Uranus fractionally after the new moon.
I actually feel really positive about this.
And that of course is when we're doing shifts.
It's the single biggest astrologically attended event
in Europe of a bunch of independent astrologers
outside of any organization that there's been for years
and will be for years.
It's people coming together,
not for a symposium or a conference,
for a think tank to redefine futures
and to consider new options for humanity.
I was teaching the other day
and out of my mouth came some words
which my students just looked at me and went,
how did you say that?
And it was something like,
astrology is the Esperanto of the new culture.
And I've said similar in the past
when I've said that astrology is the lingua franca
of the emerging consciousness revolution.
It's a language that nobody speaks
but everybody's beginning to understand.
I cannot ram this home enough.
The more people know astrology,
the more they know themselves,
the more they become psychologically self-aware,
less dependent on the rhetoric,
the narrative and the hype and spin
of all the BS that's going around
from the churches and the newspapers
and from everyone else who wants everyone
to believe what they believe.
We have the choice of becoming a dumbed down society
or a society of psychologically mature adults,
aware of our own foibles
and no longer buying into guilt, shame and fear.
And May is gonna go a long way
towards determining individual attitudes to these themes.
So, work with it.
Work with your own psychology.
Go into the dark.
I'm not talking about negative.
Go into your dark.
Deal with your ----.
Deal with the stuff that you don't wanna deal with.
Deal with the shadow.
And as a result,
you'll become more integrated, assimilated, holistic,
much more complete, much more mature, responsible adult
and your world will change for the better.
And the more we do this individually,
the more our collective world will evolve.
We're being prepared.
We're getting ready for some type of massive transition
into a field of consciousness
for like of which we've never seen
and which our ancestors have dreamt of
for tens of thousands of years.
So, if you wanna be part of it, do the work.
Or sit back and snipe.
Sit back and criticise and blame everyone else.
We'll find reasons why you can't do things.
Results, not reasons.
Have a great May.
Work on yourself.
Come to Chef's Appen if you can.
And hold some back in reserve.
July is gonna be the kind of finale for 2026.
More on that one closer to the time.
Be well, folks.
Bye.
