Playful rhino calf approaches a rhino bull that is not in a playful mood

Territorial rhino bulls, particularly white rhinos, can and do attack rhino calves. These attacks are often fatal, with bulls targeting calves to eliminate offspring that are not their own or to force the mother back into a reproductive state for mating.
