Israel, degenerates to the point of desolation, with Jerusalem depicted as "Mystery Babylon" the mother of harlots in Revelation 11:8, and chapters 17-18. The revelation of the mystery woman follows the vision of the seventh angel denoting that no time remained for delay. Immediately following this judgment is the marriage of the Lamb to his New Bride, the Holy City and New Jerusalem which came down out of heaven. The time of the events are in the past and are not prophetically related to the modern state of Israel or any country of the present.
Now also, when we look further at the descriptions of this mystery Babylon and this great city
in Revelation, in chapter 11 and verse 8, the Bible says, And their dead bodies shall
lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where
also our Lord was crucified.
Now how can we stretch, pull, twist, screw, any type of thing we want to do, how can we
bam and bang Rome into that text?
There's no possible way.
The Bible says it's the city where also the Lord was crucified.
Furthermore, Jesus said, concerning Jerusalem, in Luke chapter 13, when Herod had sent messengers
to him from Galilee saying, Tell him to get out and go back home.
He said, You go tell that fox, I do cures today and tomorrow and the third day I will
be perfected.
For it cannot be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem.
Now here are the words of the Lord, whose words are we going to take?
That's really the crux of the matter.
Jesus said it is impossible that a prophet perishes outside of Jerusalem, but yet we
have people want to tell us today that the book of Revelation, the mystery of Babylon
is about Rome.
They want to tell us that it's about the Catholic Church.
When was a prophet ever killed in Rome?
The Bible says that it was the city where the Lord was crucified that would make it
Jerusalem.
There's no other way we can get around it.
Now in terms of that, let's look at Matthew chapter 23, where Jesus tells them to fill
up the measure of their father's guilt.
Now they made a statement to him when he was speaking to them at the temple saying that
if we had been or lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers
with them in the blood of the prophets.
So they're trying to absolve themselves of guilt.
They're trying to say, we had nothing to do with this.
We don't know anything about this.
Therefore, he said, you are witnesses against yourselves that you are the sons of those
who murdered the prophets.
Fill up then the measure of your father's guilt.
Now the filling up represents a cup of iniquity.
You remember in Genesis 15 verses 13 through 16 when God told Abraham that he was going
to send his seed down into a strange land and afterward he was going to judge that nation
and then bring his people back into the land?
And he said, the reason I can't let you go now or let them go down is because the iniquity
of the Amorites was not yet full.
So God's longsuffering waits until man either repents and turns to his father and says,
I can't let you go now or let them go.
