Matthew 24:30 - Study of Matthew 24:30 showing it's correlation with Old Testament texts in Daniel 7:13 and Zechariah 12:10-12, and its New Testament parallel in Revelation 1:7, all fulfilled at the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
Hello, this is William Bell.
I want to bring you a short lesson on Matthew 24 and verse 30, Future Prophecy or AD 70.
Matthew 24 and verse 30 speaks of the coming of the Son of Man in the clouds.
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the
earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory.
We also encourage you to see Daniel chapter 7 and verse 13 along with Zechariah 12 and
verses 10 through 12 at our website demonstrating the Old Testament source for this text.
Jesus is quoting Old Testament prophecy.
In both studies, we identify the first century context of Jerusalem as the time and subject
of the prophecy.
In the Olivet Discourse, we find the prophecies of the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans
in AD 70, according to Matthew 24 and verse 3.
The time frame for the fulfillment of Matthew 24 30 is clearly within Jesus' very own generation
per verse 34.
Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things
take place.
Therefore, Zechariah chapter 12 verses 10 through 12 and Daniel 7 and verse 13 find
their fulfillment within the first century generation.
There can be no question, then, that the elements of Matthew 24 and verse 30, that is, all the
tribes from the Greek term thule, or families of the land being a reference to Zechariah
chapter 12 verses 10 through 12.
In addition, the language of seeing the Son of Man coming on the clouds correlates this
point.
They shall look on me whom they have pierced, that is, whom they have crucified.
The cloud coming is, of course, the contribution from Daniel chapter 7 and verse 13.
That these are the precise and identical elements of Revelation 1 7 cannot be denied.
Thus, Revelation 1 and verse 7, Matthew 24 and verse 30, and Zechariah chapter 12 verses
10 through 12, along with Daniel 7 and verse 13 are companion passages related to the fall
of Jerusalem in AD 70.
They are corroborative evidence that the Revelation message was written prior to Jerusalem's
fall.
Hence, support the early date versus a post-AD 70 authorship.

verse 7.

Have a pleasant day.
