Madison Keys vs Nikola Bartunkova 2026 Rome Round 3 WTA Match Highlights

Maddie off and running, beautifully played. I think she had all the experience of the world on these courts and she makes it as well. Very ordinary game from Madison Keyes. Well, loved her opponent and Keyes is tall but couldn't make it land. Can Keyes profit then? 40-30 third set point. No reprieve this time for the American and look at the celebration from the Czech player who's just turned 20. No extravagant celebrations from a team but a marvelous effort to take that first set in 37 minutes on Pietrangeli. In the last eight on home territory, Keyes is finding a touch now. A win from a set down but picks off the break there and another winner to end it, dominating the winner's count. It was level in the first set, 12-2 in this second set and that shows you the dominance in that passage of play. We're heading into a decider after just an hour and five minutes on Pietrangeli. They'll reach the semi-finals in Guadalajara. It's beaten there by Eva Jovic eventually. Yeah, lovely passing shot. Bartungava trying to switch it up, trying to pressure her opponent by coming into the net. This arena here and then the BNP Paribas Arena, not before one. Pegura against Massarova. Well played. So many of the US tennis community are of course. Has neatly finished off just with the pressure gathering and look what it means to her. Well, I think the crowd might be on her side now. Beautiful and finishes it off. Nikola Bartungava chalks off another game. Yeah, well played. Wonderful winner. Here we go. It's wide. Tears for Nikola Bartungava. Tears of joy for her and her team. It's been a long road back but what a season it is proving to be. The luckiest of lucky losers parachuted into the second round has taken out the number 17 seed 6-4 in the third.
