Alexx Ekubo Is Dead? What We Know So Far + Celebrity Tributes

Today's video is a very sad one as fans across Nigeria and all around the world continue reacting to the shocking reports surrounding the sudden passing of popular Nollywood actor Alex Ikubo. Social media has been flooded, everywhere is going crazy with tributes, emotional messages and reactions from celebrities, colleagues and longtime fans who grew up watching him on the screen. In today's video we are going to look at his life, career, his biggest achievements, celebrity reactions and the legacy he leaves behind. And I know a lot of you want to know what happened to Alex, why did he pass and we're going to be sharing that in this video. But first I'm going to go ahead and play the intro before we continue. I was shocked, I was come smacked like everybody else. I was just like God please don't let this be true, don't let this be true, let this be just a rumor. But unfortunately it is true. It's terrible but it's true. This was not the video I was supposed to release. Matter of fact I was supposed to drop a video last Friday. So there was definitely another video planned for today but once the broke today I had no choice but to quickly put this video together for you guys because I know everybody has questions on what is going on, what is happening, what has happened to Alex. Alex was just beloved, very handsome, very attractive, very talented young man and if you don't know who he is, if you ask who was Alex Ekubo, I will tell you Alex Ekubo was one of Nollywood's most recognizable actors. Before becoming famous in the movie industry he first gained public attention after emerging as the first runner-up at the Mr. Nigeria competition back in 2010. After that his acting career quickly took off and he became known for starring in romantic dramas, comedies and blockbuster Nollywood films. Everyone loved him, fans loved him for his charm, his confidence, fashion sense and his natural screen presence. He was just a darling, very very wonderful guy. This is beyond devastating. So what were Alex's most popular movies? Over the years he did so many successful films including The Weekend Getaway, Merryman, who could forget Merryman, The Real Yoruba Demons, A Hit. He had hit after hit after hit. So many hit movies. He also did Omogeto, The Saga, he did Sugar Rush, Feet of Alakadar and Devil in Agbada to name a few. I could not just tell you all of his movies. There are so many. Like where do we start from? Because these are just some of the movies. He became a major Nollywood hit and that helped cement his place as one of the industry's leading actors. Also yes I know you want to know how he passed which I will share shortly but let's talk about his achievements because this was a successful young man. Alex Okubo achieved a lot throughout his career. A lot. Not only did he become one of the biggest names in Nollywood but he also built a huge fan base across Africa and internationally. He received recognition from multiple award platforms who admired him for both his acting and influence in entertainment and fashion. Most people also respected how professional and hard-working he appeared behind the scenes. This man was drama free. Like did you ever hear of Alex fighting with anybody? Let me know in the comment section. He was so unproblematic. He was just an unbordered person and you know this is just deeply saddening. Now let us get into why or what happened to Alex. Why has he passed? So the reports are that he passed from liver cancer. There have been some other conflicting reports saying that he had kidney cancer but most of the reports are saying he had liver cancer. Celebrity reactions. Since the reports of his passing online many celebrities have shared so many emotional tributes. Actress Funke Akindile shared a heartfelt message remembering the good times they spent together. Kate Henshaw another popular actress veteran she reacted with shock online while singer Peter Okoye and many other entertainers also joined fans in mourning Alex Ikubo. A lot of people are describing Alex as kind, funny, stylish and full of positive energy. That's it. I don't think there's a better way to describe this man. He truly is full of positive vibes. Okay um wow wow wow. Now I want to go ahead and share some of the places that broke the news of Alex's death today. First up was Linda EKG blog official on Instagram. So she shared a picture of Alex with this message. She said sad actor Alex Ikubo dies at 41 after battle with cancer. Famous Nigerian actor Alex Ikubo has sadly died. Family sources say he passed away yesterday Monday May 11 after a battle with cancer. He was 41 years old. His whereabouts has been of concern to many as he has been off social media for a long time. His last post on social media was in December 2024. Alex was famous for his versatility as an actor as well as his good looks. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. And we have a ton of celebrities um just reacting under that post. I see a comment by Nonce Mirage. God please my chest and she has a bunch of shock emojis. I tell you this is horrible, horrible news. Achebe Africa said no now. Like it's just nobody wants to believe this is happening. Nobody okay. I saw a video also of Tosin Da Silva. I believe his handle is TosinSilvaDam on Instagram and he shared a video of um his announcing of uh oh my god Alex I can't even talk. I'm just deeply saddened. I mean celebrities die but this one hit. This one really hit different. It really it really hit me different okay. So yeah Tosin Da Silva also announced it. Once I saw Linda Ikegi announced that and Tosin Da Silva I knew unfortunately this is real. This is not a rumor. These are big blogs that will not absolutely not risk their reputation online by sharing news that is untrue, unfounded or unconfirmed. They would absolutely not do that. Like these are respectable blogs. Um I also checked uh Tunde Ednaught. This is another really popular blog uh on Instagram. Maz and Tunde Ednaught and um he posted rest in peace.
