SpaceX Starship’s Crazy International Expansion Revealed, Turned Launching Program Up a Notch…
Welcome back to another episode of Great SpaceX, the only place on the internet where we track rocket launches with more intensity than I track my Amazon packages.
I am your host, Kevin, and today we are talking about a future that sounds so wild, it makes my student loan balance look reasonable by comparison.
Imagine a world where you don't just launch from a single dusty pad in the middle of nowhere, but you launch and land all around the globe like you are catching a cross-town bus.
That is the "Earth-to-Earth" scenario SpaceX has been dreaming about since before I learned how to properly cook a three-minute egg.
For years, this vision felt like one of those "coming soon" trailers that never actually results in a movie, as the team was a bit busy just trying to get the stainless steel silo to stop exploding.
But the era of sitting on the sidelines is over because the master plan has officially been announced, and things are about to get very real, very fast.
So, how absolutely unhinged is SpaceX’s new expansion plan, and what kind of madness do they need to prepare for to make it happen?
Grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and settle in, because we are diving deep into the next phase of the Starship revolution.
SpaceX Starship’s Crazy International Expansion Revealed, Turned Launching Program Up a Notch…
On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter—and the place where my productivity goes to die—SpaceX dropped this bombshell: “It’s no secret that we intend to launch Starship a lot, targeting thousands of flights per year. That cadence will require the ability to launch from many different locations, so we are constantly exploring to find viable sites to expand Starship operations in the future, both domestically and internationally.”
Thousands of flights per year?
Elon Musk doubled down on the hype with his own confirmation.
Elon Musk further confirmed: “SpaceX is considering several locations domestically and internationally to build the world’s most advanced spaceports!”
When Elon uses an exclamation point, you know he is either very excited or he just saw a meme that he really liked.
These official statements didn't just appear out of thin air; they were actually a response to some spicy rumors circulating in the real estate world.
Specifically, a real estate agent named Jim Keaty from Keaty Real Estate started spreading the word that SpaceX was out here playing Monopoly with real land in Louisiana.

The rumor mill suggests that SpaceX is targeting a massive 136,000-acre plot of land—that is roughly 212 square miles for those of you who like math—in the wetlands south of Highway 82.
This area is located in Pecan Island and Freshwater City, tucked away in the Vermilion Parish of the Acadiana region, which sounds like the setting of a very atmospheric detective novel.
Pecan Island is a particularly interesting choice because it sits geographically right between the chaos of Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, and the old-school prestige of Cape Canaveral, Florida.
It is like moving into a new apartment that is halfway between your job and your favorite bar; it just makes logistical sense for your social life.
Plus, this location offers super convenient access to fuel-related sites like Cheniere LNG and Golden Pass LNG on the Louisiana-Texas border.
If you are going to launch the world's most powerful rocket, you probably want to be close to the gas station, and Sabine Pass is essentially the world’s biggest gas station for liquid natural gas.
The land near Freshwater City is apparently already being prepped for port operations, with direct access to the Intercoastal Canal and the Gulf of Mexico.
This represents a massive pivot away from the traditional "aerospace hubs" we have known for decades.
By moving into Louisiana, SpaceX is signaling that they are ready to outgrow the confines of Florida and Texas to truly scale up the Starship program.
