Join us for an exciting technical and practical look at the EOS R6 V Camera and RF20-50mm F4 L IS USM PZ Lens.
Good morning, I'm Sami Kobayashi, President and CEO of Canon USA.
Thank you for joining us as we share the latest additions to our product lineup.
For years, Canon has been at the center of your most important moments.
We've been there for the adventures, sporting events, weddings, and everything in between.
We know how much those moments matter to you.
That's why we continue to focus on how we can help you capture your memories
and bring your creative vision to life.
Canon has always empowered creators, image makers, and innovators to do what they do best.
From supporting award-winning films to providing world-class prints displayed across the globe,
our mission has remained the same.
Utilize state-of-the-art technology to help elevate the human experience.
It's amazing to see how imaging technology has continued to evolve
and improve the tools used for the stories you tell.
Today, we are excited to introduce a new camera and lens to expand your options even further.
Here to share the details is Brandon.
Thanks, Sammy. Today is truly a special day.
We're passionate about empowering your creativity.
So today, we're happy to announce the new EOS R6V,
a high-performance, full-frame, mirrorless camera
that combines the best aspects of our two most powerful camera lines, EOS and Cinema EOS.
Additionally, we have a new L-series lens, the RF 20-50mm F4L-IS USM-PZ.
It's a versatile new lens that is designed to inspire creatives
who are ready to take their video imagery to the next level.
Whether you're creating short films, social media content,
video podcasts, or hybrid marketing projects,
these new additions are built to give you the flexibility, agility,
advanced control, and exceptional image quality
you expect from a full-frame camera and L-series lens right out of the box.
At the heart of the camera is a full-frame image sensor with approximately 32.5 megapixels.
It delivers exceptional depth, detail, and low-light performance
you'd expect from a full-frame imaging system.
And this is the same image sensor as you've seen in our award-winning EOS R6 Mark III
and EOS C50 cameras.
The overall performance is determined by more than just the sensor alone.
Each model has been optimized through the combination of the imaging engine
and the other devices internally to match its product design concepts.
This enables creatives the freedom to push their visual storytelling further
with a more accessible price point in a video-forward product design.
The EOS R6V camera is built for video
and it has several UI features to enable more creativity.
Firstly, the camera features an active cooling system
enabling long-form recording at high resolutions and frame rates.
It allows control of the fan operation so you can choose for efficient cooling
or reduce noise when recording audio.
A vertical tripod mount is built directly into the camera grip
making it easy to switch from traditional horizontal shooting for hero content.
To vertical shooting for social media.
Ideal for using the camera on gimbals tripods and other fast-paced setups
without the need for a cage.
There's a front record button because we know that you're not always working behind the camera
but you also work in front of it.
There's a tally lamp recording emphasis frame on the LCD screen
so whether you're manning the camera or vlogging in front of it
you always know when you're recording.
For those who focus on video
this camera is designed to truly maximize your projects
utilizing the sensor's full potential.
With open gate recording support
the ability to record in a 3x2 aspect ratio
gives your video imagery additional vertical height
providing more flexibility in post.
You can record up to 30p in 6960x4640 resolution
or 6912x4608 in 10-bit mp4
making it easy to reformat and deliver multiple aspect ratios
from widescreen to vertical 9x16
all from a single recorded video clip.
It's made for today's creatives
who need to deliver imagery for multiple uses
and across platforms
without needing to reframe or reshoot.
And to make that process even easier
you can display two different aspect ratio markers
on screen simultaneously while recording
so you can visualize your final output in real time.
This also works seamlessly with main and proxy recording
using the CFexpress Type B and UHS Type 2 SD card slots
giving you an efficient and flexible workflow
from capture to post-production.
For those looking for even more control
the camera offers 7k 12-bit raw recording at up to 30p
and 7k raw light recording at up to 60p.
It also includes high-speed recording at up to 4k 120p
or 2k for full HD recording at up to 180p
with audio for slow motion recording
or using the dedicated slow and fast motion mode.
These two options provide the workflow choice
of either recording a clip
that you will edit the playback speed in post
or with slow and fast motion mode
you can adjust the playback speed in camera
for a more mobile friendly workflow.
There's also high image quality over sample 4k recording
in the fine mode at up to 60p for detailed imagery
so whether you're prioritizing maximum image quality
or a more streamlined workflow
you have the tools to match your production needs.
The camera is equipped with 5-axis in-body image stabilization
providing you with up to 7.5 stops of stability
when working handheld.
When it comes to reliability
it features dust and water resistance
so you can confidently shoot in a variety of environments.
You'll also find a zoom lever
conveniently placed around the shutter button
allowing for intuitive control of optical zoom
with on-screen indicators showing zoom position.
You always know exactly where you are at a glance
and when paired with compatible RF lenses
and accessories supporting PowerZoom
you can achieve smooth controlled zoom transitions
perfect for video.
PowerZoom can also be operated remotely
using wireless control or apps like Camera Connect
giving you even more flexibility in your setup.
Complementing the camera is a brand new RF standard zoom lens
Canon's first L-series full-frame lens
with built-in PowerZoom.
It's designed specifically with video creators in mind.
The new RF 20-50mm f4L IS USM PZ lens
features a single zoom ring
that supports both manual and PowerZoom operation
giving L-series image quality
an ultra-wide angle to standard view
and intuitive PowerZoom control.
The internal zoom design
maintains a consistent center of gravity
which is especially beneficial
when shooting on gimbals or rigs
ensuring smoother and more stable operation.
A rear focus system helps suppress focus breathing
so your framing stays consistent during focus pulls.
And with Nano USM
you get fast, quiet, and smooth autofocus performance
ideal for video recording in any environment.
You'll also find a customizable control ring
allowing you to assign key settings
for quick adjustments while shooting.
And with a nine blade circular aperture
for stunning bokeh
and dust and water resistant construction
this lens is built to perform in any condition.
Together this camera and lens system
are designed to empower creators
who demand both performance and flexibility
without compromising on quality.
But what happens when you take this camera lens
out into the real world?
To tell you more, here's Alicia.
Thanks, Brandon.
Now let's take a look at a few features
that really elevate the experience for vloggers
lifestyle creators
and anyone creating content on the go.
Okay, guys.
First off, portability.
That means I can throw it in my bag
carry it around all day
and even hold it up while vlogging
without the arm fatigue kicking in.
And framing my shot is effortless
thanks to the three inch vary angle touchscreen.
I can flip, tilt, and tap
exactly where I need.
Quick and intuitive.
And when it comes to staying in focus
this is where the camera really shines.
Subject detection handles people
animals like dogs, cats, birds
even horses
and vehicles like cars, motorcycles
planes and trains.
And with eye detection
I trust that the autofocus stays tack sharp
even when things get unpredictable.
There's also a new autofocus mode
specifically for close-up demos.
So if I'm showcasing a camera
a lens or anything detailed
I can bring it right up to the lens
and trust it'll lock in quickly and accurately.
Now, let's talk about the lens.
With a 20 to 50 millimeter field of view
and internal zooming
it's incredibly versatile.
I can go wide for these shots
then zoom in tighter
without the lens extending or shifting balance.
Super convenient when you're handheld
or shooting on a tripod grip.
Plus, it has a 67 millimeter filter thread
which is huge
because it matches Canon's F1.4 L series lenses.
So if you already have ND filters
you're good to go.
No extra gear needed.
And for those moments
when I need a little more control
remote zooming lets me adjust the framing
without ever having to touch the lens.
It's subtle, smooth
and makes solo shooting way easier.
This camera also features a vertical mount
for easy setup
when shooting in portrait orientation
along with the UI
that automatically rotates to match.
So whether you're filming for social
it just feels natural.
No awkward adjustments.
Just pick it up and start creating.
And powering all of this
is the LP-E6P battery.
The same one used in the R5 and R6 series.
It's reliable, long lasting
and easy to swap
if you're already in the Canon ecosystem.
And with the USB-C charging
you can power up your camera
just about anywhere.
It's perfect for long travel days
or back-to-back shooting
when you don't want to worry
about swapping batteries.
Now while these features are great
for fast-paced everyday content
they also play a huge role
in capturing life's most meaningful moments.
So with that
I'll pass it over to Christina
who's going to dive deeper
into how these features shine
for weddings, engagement and portrait shoots.
Thanks Alicia.
Now building on those features
let's dive into a few more tools
that really shine
when it comes to capturing weddings
and engagement stories.
First up
it really starts with the full-frame image sensor.
The image quality here is just beautiful.
Rich tones, natural skin
and incredible depth.
Whether I'm shooting a harsh midday sun
or a dimly lit reception
I know I'm capturing footage
and photos that feel true to the moment.
What I love the most
especially for hybrid shooting
is the flexibility this camera gives me.
With open gate recording
I'm capturing the full sensor
which means I can reframe
for multiple aspect ratio
horizontal for film
vertical for social
all from the same clip.
And with built-in aspect markers
I can compose confidently in camera
knowing exactly how it'll translate
across different platforms.
Engagements and weddings
are all about movement
and with in-body image stabilization
or IBIS
your footage stays smooth and steady
even when you're handheld.
And when paired with a new
RF 20-50mm F4L lens
you get up to eight stops of stabilization
and when it comes to storytelling
timing is everything.
With slow and fast motion recording
you can shoot up to 4K at 120 frames per second
or 2K at 180.
That means you can slow down the moments
that matter most
and really let your audience feel every second.
For even more creative control
this camera offers both
Canon LOG2 and Canon LOG3.
With Canon LOG2
delivering over 15 stops of dynamic range
you're able to capture incredible detail
from bright outdoor to low light receptions.
It gives you the flexibility to color grade
and create a consistent beautiful look
across the entire wedding day
no matter the lighting conditions.
And to bring it all together
4K recording with 7K oversampling
delivers stunning image quality.
You get sharper, cleaner, and more detailed footage
helping every moment big or small
feel elevated and timeless.
And that flexibility carries over
and into podcasting too.
I'll pass it over to Mason to break it down.
Thanks Christina
now let's take a closer look at some of the features
that make this camera
especially powerful for podcasters.
First up, the tally lamp.
It's a small detail
but one that makes a huge difference
during recordings.
When you hit record
the lamp lights up in red
clearly letting everyone know
the camera is rolling.
And it's positioned
where you can easily see it
so whether you're hosting or interviewing
there's no second guessing.
Just a smoother, more confident flow
to your conversations.
For longer podcast sessions
reliability is everything.
That's where the built-in cooling fan comes in.
It helps regulate
the camera's internal temperature
allowing for extended recording
and streaming times.
So you can focus on capturing great content
without worrying about overheating
or interruptions.
When it comes to connectivity
this camera supports 5GHz Wi-Fi
giving you faster and more stable performance
whether you're transferring files
controlling the camera remotely
or integrating into a wireless setup.
It's built to keep up
with modern production needs.
And power flexibility
is another big win here.
You can run on the LP-E6P battery
or plug in using the LP-E6P
DC Coupler
DR-E6P
and USB Power Adapter
PD-E2
for extended sessions.
Perfect for podcast environments
where you need consistent
uninterrupted power
for longer recordings.
And of course
full HDMI output gives you a clean
high quality signal
ideal for live streaming
external recording
or connecting directly
into your production setup.
Altogether
these features are designed
to support creators
who need reliability
flexibility
and ease of use
especially in podcast
and studio environments.
So no matter your setup
this camera is ready
to help bring your conversations to life.
Everyone
thanks for joining us today
on celebrating the new EOS R6V.
How's everybody feeling today?
Great. Good.
Everybody had a great time
trying out the new camera?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Alicia, how about you?
You got to play with the camera, right?
Trying it out for vlogging
kind of like that lifestyle situation.
Tell us, what do you think?
I absolutely loved it.
I thought the portrait mode
being able to switch it
horizontal and portrait mode
was perfect for me.
I really loved using the accessories
the hand grip
the remote
everything was just easily accessible
and I didn't have to do much.
The screen
I loved it.
You could see yourself vlogging
perfect
lighting was everything.
So it was really easy to use
lightweight
I can hold up the camera
while vlogging
no stress on like my arms, you know?
No stress.
You can put it in your purse
your bag?
I can put it in my purse.
Compact enough?
Yes, it's perfect.
Throw it in my bag
and not worry about it
for the rest of the day.
We can't forget about the
RF 20-50mm F4L IS USM PZ
new lens, right?
How was everybody's
feeling with that lens?
Really easy to control
the dial on both ends.
So yeah, had a good time.
And did you enjoy the
power zoom function as well?
Loved the power zoom function.
I can be far away from it
and just be able to zoom with it.
That remote was really handy.
That remote was handy.
I was so surprised by how fast
it was actually like
zooming in and forth.
So fast.
Perfect.
Yeah, I did notice that too.
Like the zooming in and zooming out
was so fast.
Oh, this is great.
And Brandon
being responsible for the camera
how do you feel about like
now that we're launching this camera?
I think it's going to go on
really allow a lot of people
to be creative in new ways.
So, for example,
open gate recording,
cooling fan,
you know, you have so much
capability there alone
that people can go into
longer form recording like podcasts.
But at the same time,
it's going to allow people
to work on their timeline.
They don't have to worry
about overheating
and, you know, looking at
in-body stabilization.
They're going to have more freedom
to go and create
even when they're using
prime lenses without stabilization.
The tally lamp is actually
one of my favorite features,
because, again,
as you're recording yourself,
we got one, two, three,
four, five cameras here set up.
We know instantly
we just have to look at the cameras
and they're all glowing red.
And at the same time,
you have the recording emphasis frame
around the outside of the LCD screen.
So if I'm working behind the camera,
you're working in front.
We both can know that
we're recording at the same time.
And then also, too,
for you folks as well,
for you on the run and gone
doing so many things,
the IBIS,
I want to bring that back up, too,
because it's got seven
and a half stops of IBIS.
So when you're taking photographs
or even video,
including working it with the lenses,
how do you think
that IBIS is going to help you
keep everything steady
when you're shot?
Oh, it helped me a lot.
I mean, I'm holding out my hand
vlogging.
It's like perfect.
The image quality is amazing.
Yeah, I'm running around.
You know, when I'm vlogging,
I'm going to need to be on the go,
pull it out of my bag.
It helps me immensely
like in my day to day life.
Christina, as you're recording video
with your couple,
tell us, what did you feel like
with using the IBIS?
I felt really comfortable.
I mean, I'm a shorty in the industry
and it's always nice to have
that kind of feature
be so smoothly to use.
And the couples earlier,
they're both really tall.
So in order for me to kind of
get those higher angles,
I do have to do this
and I want to pay attention
on how smooth
and how easy that goes for me.
So it was great.
And the footage came out really great.
I know.
Yeah, they look wonderful.
I mean, they're a good looking couple as well.
So that also helps.
All right, everyone,
thanks again for your time.
We really appreciate
all your efforts today.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
We really appreciate it.
We're going to send it right back
off to Sammy.
Empowering you is our mission.
You are the reason we do what we do.
Together, we inspire new ideas,
push past untested boundaries
and create stories
to share with the world.
Your passion is our fuel.
The future of imaging
has never looked brighter.
Let's go out and experience it together.
Thank you.
