Hi, I'm Camilla Cecilia Vigneault. I'm the co-founder of Casa Bonbon and we're here
at my house in West Hampton Beach. So I ended up in this house because my husband grew up coming
out to West Hampton and we, over COVID, we would stay at his father's house down the street and
we'd go for walks every single day because what else would you do during COVID? And we'd always
see this little house sitting on top of a hill and, you know, we would go on these long walks
and talk about all the things we would do to the house. And so we ended up buying the house. It's a
1940 cedar shingle farmhouse that used to be part of a working farm. So this house was the
horse carriage house and what really drew us to the house, you can see we have the original beams
in the living room and two of the beams have the cast iron hitching rings still attached to them
that I believe were used to tether the horses. So there's a lot of original charm in this house
and so we really wanted to buy a house where we could really maintain that original charm but make
it our own and really infuse a lot of Casa Bon Bon into it. So we were originally drawn to the
house because of the light in the house and we saw a lot of potential to create a home that really
reflected us as a family and the things that we like to do, which is primarily host, but also I
really wanted to make it a place where it felt like the brand that I've been working on building
So in terms of the layout of the house, I do want to caveat that we did do a lot of renovations to
this house. So we added elements to make the flow operate in the way that we want to host. So you
walk into the home, there's a little foyer or you could even call it a mud room. It has a bold red
barn door and red and white striped wallpaper. There's like hooks in there to hang my Casa Bon
Bon totes that I essentially grab every day when I'm running out the door. So that's the foyer.
Then you walk into the formal living room where there's a little seating area. There's like the
original beams on the ceiling and then we created a little seating area next to the fireplace so
that in the winter, which we come out here a lot in the winter because we live in New York City,
we can you know cozy up by the fireplace, read a book or have you know a glass of wine. So you walk
in, it's the foyer, the formal living room and then you make a right and it's our dining room
which we actually don't use that often because this is very much an outdoor entertaining home.
But we have a little dining room that is currently staged as our dining room but to be honest during
the summer it is our kids playroom so it's a complete disaster most of the time. But that's
the dining room and then it walks out into the outdoor area. So the outdoor patio where we
entertain most of the time and then the pool area. When you turn a corner you walk into the
kitchen family room. We live in this room. This room did not exist when we bought the house. It
was like a little galley kitchen so we expanded the footprint and we created a kitchen and a family
room that you know embodies Casa Bambam which you'll see by our pendant lights but also you
know how we like to live which is cooking and eating and hanging out. So that is what we tried
to accomplish there. So the house is a four bedroom, three bathroom home. The bedrooms are
fairly small and a lot of them have like vaulted ceilings which is a tribute to the original
character of the house and so we've wallpapered kind of like the entire rooms and the ceilings
as well to create a cozy feeling. But yeah it's a four bedroom, three bathroom farmhouse cottage.
So welcome to my little foyer. We added this into the house as a space to really kind of like take
off our shoes and make a mess. But the foyer is really anchored by this red barn door which we
love and so this red barn door kind of set the scene for the whole foyer. So we added some red
and white pinstriped wallpaper that goes all the way up. We did like the the molding and the
shiplap all red and yeah we have some really fun pieces here. So I've added some hooks to hang my
Casa Bambam bags. We also have one of my girlfriend's Kinder Brook baskets and this is really
like every day when I'm running out of the house and need to go shopping I grab a bag or a tote
and go about my day. And then this these two pieces here are super special. These are two
brass pieces. One's a clock and one's a barometer and they once lived on my late father's boat and
so it's really special because every time I leave the house I think of him. I added a little bench
here so my kids can take off their shoes with a really fun faded floral block print and a matching
Roman shade. And then on the bottom here we've added three little baskets. These I'm sure I got
honestly off of Amazon and really what these baskets have are sunscreen and hats so that
every day when we leave the door the kids have their sunscreen on and their hats on and they're
ready for the day. I truly love what we did with the front closet here. We essentially
wallpapered the panels and also framed the doors with red molding to really like tie the room
together. So I'm wearing I'm actually wearing a Casa Bom Bom Pereo that this is the Biarritz
and it comes with a matching tote in both the large or the small size and I really wear this
you know every day whether I'm picking up the kids from camp or heading to the beach
it is a great staple piece in my wardrobe.
All right so when you walk through the foyer you enter into our formal living room. So the
ceilings are pretty low here because we kept this room original to the house. So we have the original
beams in here. The space is small but we have a little seating area here. We have a little Casa
Bom Bom tote that I'm actually using as a vase and I love. So here's our little seating area. This is
where we're we entertain have you know meats and cheeses and drink a glass of red wine and then
if you walk into this little area we really wanted to create two separate spaces although
the room is fairly small and this area is really what we use in the winter time. It's really just
to sit and you know have a hot coffee or a glass of wine. Clearly you know we love to have a glass
of wine and we just light the fire and read a book which is super special. And a lot of the
things that you see here I've actually purchased in antique shops. The wood tin antique shop.
Our fireplace screen we picked up at an antique shop as well as our fireplace tool set I got at
an antique store very nearby. And then this little corner I mean we it's it should be a full bar but
my husband loves to drink a glass of whiskey so I picked up this table at an antique shop.
We have a little whiskey decanter here with some glasses and these are actual little cocktail
stirrers that are golf clubs that were gifted to us at our wedding. And there's also a cup of mate
and mate is a specialty drink that we drink in Argentina which is where my father's from. You
really drink it summer or winter by the fire and it just is supposed to provide energy healthy
energy and we love it. And then lastly I just wanted to chat about these chairs. These are
some fun gingham chairs and what I did was I created some Casa Mama and matching gingham
rounded flute sconces to go on the wall. So the area that gets the most use is this sitting area
when we when we're talking about this room specifically. My husband and I Christian come
down here every morning have our morning coffee on this couch while our kids play in the playroom
and yeah we love this room. It's small but it's mighty and it's super cozy. Okay so this is a
little skirted rattan ottoman that I love and you know all I've done is layered books on there.
Normally I would have a little bit more trinkets but I have two toddlers that love to grab
everything so I try to keep it clean. Again I have you know our Casa Bonbon tote that is currently
being used as a vase and all I really have is you know a coaster and some fun you know formal
coasters. A little catch-all that can be used for an ashtray or just to put some nuts in there.
It looks a little bit like an altar table but it's really just a console table and I'm framed
it by things that I picked up at the same antique store. This mirror that matches the table and
these really cool candelabras that are on the wall. So yeah it just adds like a little cozy
element I mean you can see that I've burned through the candles because when I host I
always like these to add warmth to the room. My design style is very relaxed yet with a traditional
twist. I like to take a lot from you know vintage European countryside homes but also add an element
of coastal ease. So when you look around the house there's going to be a lot of faded florals,
a lot of block prints, a lot of rattan, a lot of gingham and those are the palettes that really
evoke tradition with that vintage twist. So now you walk into the dining room also low ceiling.
This is original to the home. This used to just be a blank canvas so we added some shiplap here
to frame the dining room and some blue grass cloth wallpaper. We don't actually entertain too
often in this room because this is very much a beach house but here and there in the winter we'll
have a dinner or two but normally actually we use this as a playroom for our kids but you know it
can operate as a dining room and again in the winter it creates a really cozy area to sit and
eat. If you look at the table we have our Casa Bomba and Flora napkins which we love and it's
all really tied together with the blue and greens to really match what's going on or to contrast
what's going on in the dining room and there's a lot of rattan elements. To be honest this house
is very much like a hodgepodge of things I've collected over the years and I did the house
myself so you know some things one could argue that there's too much rattan in this room but I
think it kind of goes together and it's fun to to you know contrast the wood with the blue.
These doors were here originally or the there's two windows framing a door and we have these
really large vases here that were actually my husband's mother's vases that are super special
to us and in the summer a lot of times we have it planted with florals but we really think they go
really well in this room given the blue contrast. So we normally don't entertain inside we spend
most of our time outside so let me take you outside. I started my career working in finance
and business development and I worked in finance and bd for over 10 years but I was always craving
you know a creative outlet to kind of have fun and and explore my creativity so
when I lived in London I met my current business partner and one of my best friends Callan
Vessels now Callan Connor and we just shared a love for entertaining but also creating
you know houses into homes and adding elements that like just made everyone instantly feel like
warm and welcome and so when we were in London we always like talked about potentially creating
a brand together like a lifestyle brand together and when we got back to the city I had just had
my first son Axel it was 2021 and we launched Casa Bombon. So Casa Bombon was born out of the desire
to really celebrate tradition but with a sense of play so we launched Casa Bombon initially with
homeware products so we did like a rounded flute lampshade with matching pillows because we want
we always felt that you know lampshades and pillows kind of like tied a room together but
as the brand has evolved we now do tabletop so we have you know tablecloths napkins we also
have expanded into tote bags which are our best-selling item and you know matching
perreos for the beach so like we're really creating a brand that kind of like evokes
everything that I've talked about which is tradition with a sense of play but also products
that if you're entertaining you're going to make your house feel like a home and your guests just
feel welcome and ready to you know party. Now we are in El Jardin Bombon so welcome so this is our
backyard entertaining space which we really wanted to create as a floral oasis but also
an homage to Casa Bombon. I want to start off by saying that this backyard space was a dense forest
that looks like the forest next door to us and so we really cleared it all out and we wanted to create
an entertaining area that's still true to the house so nothing like massive or extraordinary
but something super cozy and something where we could really add a lot of our Casa Bombon elements
so we have two little seating areas here here's a little french-inspired cast iron seating area
where we took our Casa Bombon fabric and created some really fun cushions and these as the seating
area is framed by four topiaries to kind of like separate the space from the dining space. This
is another ginger jar vase that I got off of an auction house but if you walk over here so this
is the table where we spend most of our time with the kids and with our friends and family whether
we're you know having lunch or having dinner we're grilling outdoors constantly and living in
this patio El Jardin Bombon. When I say we cook I mean my husband Christian cooks slash also grills
I can make cereal that's as far as it goes. So we wanted to create a shaded space that our
kids could also come hang out and play and not be in the sun all day so we added this green and white
striped awning and once we added this awning we decided to match the green and white stripes
throughout our outdoor area so once you hit the pool area you'll see that our cushions
and our umbrellas match you know the striped vibe which is you know it makes you feel like a little
bit like you're having a European summer out here in New York in West Hampton Beach. So we actually
decided to elevate the patio and have it step down to the pool area and we just wanted to add
more greenery elements so that's why we did that so we elevated the patio then we added
a bunch of boxwoods to frame the patio to furthermore enclose the eating space and make
it feel more like a floral oasis. I have a four-year-old and a two-year-old so pool safety
is top of mind. We decided to create this custom farmhouse fence to really match the
farmhouse style of the home and it encloses the full the full pool area. Eventually once our kids
are older I think we would remove this front space and it'll be like an open step down to the pool
but while I still have young kids around I just want the pool to be completely enclosed.
All right so let me show you the pool. My hydrangeas that are extremely thirsty
sadly because we've had such a hot summer. So this is the pool area we created a fairly small but I
think I wish I knew the the measurements but it has stadium steps and it's perfect for the kids.
I wanted the pool to be fully enclosed in grass but then I didn't think it would be that practical
with the kids so we added some patio area but we also kept a lot of greenery. So we have like I
mentioned the green and white pool chairs with the matching umbrellas on either side framing the pool
and if you come over this way we have a little hangout area out here in the back again framed by
more blue hydrangeas. Clearly they're my favorite and this is where we like to have a cocktail
actually once sunset starts happening so like 7 p.m once the kids are in bed my husband and I will
come sit in the back here to really enjoy a cocktail and you know talk about the day but
just to like utilize the space that we don't normally utilize throughout the day. We put a lot
of thought and effort into the landscape and the gardening. We had to put in this retaining wall
over here so I wanted the retaining wall to be framed by blue and purple hydrangeas and they
were in full bloom in July now they're you know look looking a little sad and we've had a really
hot summer but normally it's extremely beautiful and we've added you know some trees and we have
a lot of lighting out here so at nighttime all of the trees and the plants are lit up to really
create that floral oasis and if you walk over this way I just added recently this hydrangea tree that
I absolutely loved and it's currently in full bloom and it's framed by some grasses but you
know this these are my favorite kind of trees and I have another one that frames the patio area but
it was completely destroyed by the deer so we need to figure that out but yeah I know I love
hydrangeas and I love anything that's like full and makes the space feel full and floral. So one
of the reasons why I love planting hydrangeas throughout the house is because when I don't have
time to go to the flower shop I can cut a bunch of the hydrangeas and just like place them in the
guest bedrooms or at the dining room table when I'm entertaining and they're so beautiful. When
it comes to hosting I would say there are like three tips. The first one I'll combine and it is
you really want to set the tone as a host and set the tone of the table. So as a host and by the way
I don't do this perfectly. I've learned a lot through how my friends host, how my parents hosted
but it's really about being calm and at ease and not frazzled or stressed because you really want
to set the tone for the night right. You want everybody to have a good time and relax and also
you really want to set the tone by setting an incredible table. So you know staying true to
our brand we really want to, I always really want to create a table that is really fun with like
mix-matched patterns and mix-matched glassware but it's all tied together through elements of
Casa Bomba and like our matching napkins and tablecloths and light and so that I would say
that's the first tip to hosting. The second one is lighting. I think lighting in the house and
outside is super super important and it sets the tone for how the night's gonna go. You obviously
don't want the house or wherever you're eating dinner to be super bright and you want your
you want your house lighting to really complement your table lighting which is you know the candles
that you have on there. And thirdly let me think I mean honestly music. So I if you ask anybody who's
come to a Trun's dinner party you will find out that we normally hire this one man band his name
is Seth to play some live music for us and what ends up happening is everyone has such a good time
that it becomes karaoke. So you know the goal really is for everyone to just like let loose
and have fun and so I think by tying together those three points you can really achieve that.
What I would say I love most about the house is the way it feels during golden hour. The
light really coming into the house is super special and when I see my kids running around
barefoot through the light it's you know it's a really special moment but also I think I love
the like equestrian roots that it has. It brings a lot of charm to the home. You know we affectionately
call the house the Trun's table which is my last name given the roots that it has being a carriage
house but back patio and pool area you know have taken a name of their own we call it El Jardin
Bonbon to kind of attribute not only the brand that we've built but also the fact that I and
you'll see this in the tour we've tried to create it some a very like special floral oasis so that
when we're sitting out there by the pool or entertaining you feel like you're not really
in New York and you're somewhere away you know enjoying the sunshine so what I love about the
house is obviously original elements like I mentioned lighting and the history of the home
but I feel like what we've created is like a special oasis for my family to grow and that's
really special to me. Okay so we've just finished up El Jardin Bonbon and our pool area and now I'll
take you to the kitchen family room where we spend most of our time. Okay so this is the kitchen
family room this area of the house did not exist when we purchased the home this was a galley
kitchen so actually the the existing part of the home this doorway kind of framed it so there was
just a kitchen that was about this big and it was a long galley kitchen so what we decided to do
is expand the house raise the roof and we've created like a little you know area where we
spend most of our time so this is our kitchen and family room and you know I just wanted it to be
functional so I'm all about like a really big island where the kids basically eat all of their
meals. The island is framed by Casa Bonbon rounded flute lampshades we actually created these pendant
lampshades first for our friend's restaurant in Little Rock called George's and then I decided to
replicate them for my kitchen. I did the blue because we have a really fun blue smeg fridge
over here that just gives it that like vintage and authentic vibe so we have a little bit of
like a blue theme going on in the kitchen. There are other elements in the kitchen you know that
I love we decided to do a little bit of a backsplash with the leftover counter top material
that we had and then we did some like shiplap backsplash and then there's like you know little
things here like I just actually thrifted this when I was in London and Notting Hill and it just
creates like a cozy element to the kitchen and then I actually got these hand painted little
fish that I want to just like add to the backsplash here to just like make it more fun and full and
playful. Like I mentioned our kitchen was a galley kitchen but the one thing that we kept from that
kitchen was this original farmhouse sink so I made sure that the you know contractors didn't throw
this away and we built it into our new kitchen and we love it. I just feel like again it's an
ode to the farmhouse history of the Trent stable. So another element of the kitchen that's not been
completed but I'm really excited about is I'm having a friend hand paint like large scale like
onions and radishes and these like really fun vegetables that are going to frame the top of
the window area and then also frame the basically the entire top of the kitchen area and I think
it'll really tie together the kitchen and furthermore separate it from the family room.
I don't know if I've mentioned this yet but you know the house I basically designed it myself I
had some help from my business partner Callan but I you know nothing is really designer here
everything I've just like collected from places or I got it on Etsy like these curtains I got on
they're super fun and I decided to use the leftover wallpaper from my bedroom to frame the
arched built-in bookshelves that we have here and so once I did that I decided to get fabric
and make a cushion and add like you know these little pendant lights here and I think it really
ties together the room. These prints I recently hung I picked them up in Notting Hill as well
and you know just the more the merrier I'm like I want things to clash I want a lot of like
flowers and I want a lot of rattan so I just feel like the more the better. We custom built
these arch built-ins and we wanted them to obviously look beautiful but also be super
functional so the bottom of the built-ins is basically all toy storage so it is just
stuffed with the kids toys but you know when anyone's coming over at the end of the day I
can just throw everything in there and it looks like nothing ever happened and you know I have
some fun elements on the bookshelves like these books I got from an antique shop here's a photo
of my parents and on the other arched bookshelf we have a photo of my husband's parents over here
we have a little fun artichoke ceramic piece that I also this one I actually thrifted as well as
this one and we have some beautiful bone inlay vases that's my friend's company and yeah it's
just like little pieces that I've collected here and there it's definitely not finished but it's
a work in progress. The biggest compliment that somebody could give me when they walk into my home
is that the interiors look put together and fun but it's also just like super comfortable
and easy to live in. So this is our powder room and it's funny it's like you know underneath the
staircase Harry Potter vibes so we wanted to make it fun um I got this little loo sign when I was
in London in May and I thought it was so cute and I decided to wallpaper the ceilings of the bathroom
and I got some matching Roman shades again I did this all myself this wallpaper is a random brand
that I found on Google and I got this sink off of Etsy they custom made the sink the color to match
the wallpaper and it's giving a little bit of like a nautical vibe especially with the light
sconce and the mirror that we picked here um so yeah this is like our little powder room that
you know our guests use when they're over for dinner or just hanging out. So like I said I'm
very impulsive in terms of like my interiors I'm not like really thinking about whether something
is going to match or not and I was at the I was like at a rug outlet essentially picking out my
stair runner and I thought you know instead of bordering it with something boring like black or
tan let's go with blue so we did the blue border but then I have a white staircase and I was pretty
upset about the fact that the blue border looked like painter's tape so I needed to figure out
how I could essentially draw the attention away from the staircase because it literally looks
like there's painter's tape lining my stair runner and so what I decided to do was blue and
white wallpaper striped going all the way up the staircase to really tie it all together.
All right so when you get upstairs this is like a little landing that we have here again I decided
to do blue and white striped wallpaper and if you can see it actually goes all the way up through
the ceilings. We kept the original beams I painted them white which I know is a little sacrilegious
but it just kind of like wasn't working with the original wood color and this is a four bedroom
two bathroom area upstairs all of the doors are like original barn doors so for the extension
which this is this leads into the extension we have to like replicate the doors so the house
matched. I'm not going to show you all the bedrooms because they're not finished but I'll come show
you one of our guest bedrooms. So I really wanted to pick like a fun block print cozy wallpaper
and the wallpaper is by they make amazing wallpaper it's Les Ondiennes I think I'm
pronouncing that correctly I might be butchering it but they have really fun wallpaper and they
kind of like print it bespoke for your project so like no sheet of wallpaper is essentially the
same but I love it in here and I found some pillows that kind of like go with the vibe I'm
pretty sure those are those are Etsy but it's a fun little cozy guest room we decided to
keep like the original doors the barn doors but the insides of the closet are all custom and
redone so when guests come and has you know they have a comfortable space to hang their clothes
so then you walk into this little en suite guest bathroom this was actually existing to the house
we just kind of like renovated a few things but it has a shower and a tub we added in this fun
sink and mirror and then I got some sconces because again lighting is everything and we had
some leftover wallpaper so it really like frames the bathroom and it ties it together with the
what makes a house a home so I think it's you know obviously there's an element about
the interiors and every corner telling a story but really what it's truly about is like
where your family and friends are gathering where you know memories are being made like
where my children are growing up and where they call home thanks for watching go to
