Oh my gosh!
No, it's fully in the wrong lane.
Oh my gosh, what is he doing?
We're doing the Great American Road Trip in a Tesla.
This is my first time driving an e-vehicle.
Let's go check it out.
So this is a Tesla Model 3.
And today it's going to be the vehicle that gets us from point A to Z.
We only have a five day trip, but we packed as if we're gone for the next three months.
This is the San Francisco Hills.
And we're actually going to be going not just in a smart car,
but between smart homes along the coast.
This whole road trip is going to take us here in Northern California
all the way to Southern Oregon.
I'm going to be showing you what could very well be
one of the most incredible coastline road trips in America.
This hill.
Here we go.
Time to do our first mile here in the city of San Francisco.
Okay, now I'm going to gun it.
One sec.
Like what?
We just shot.
It's so fast.
And you don't hear a thing.
I'm pretty into this.
We made it somewhere very special.
Come see this.
Wow, you guys.
It's the Golden Gate Bridge.
A lot more beautiful in person.
This is insane.
Crazy that it's such a clear day.
Except everything underneath the bridge is just foggy right now.
Bro, why is the Golden Gate Bridge red?
Shouldn't it be gold?
If this video gets 15,000 likes, I will personally paint it gold.
That is Alcatraz.
And once upon a time, it was a maximum, maximum security jail.
And the only way to escape, which only I think a couple people did
in the entire history of the prison,
they literally had to swim to shore, which was miles away.
And San Francisco Bay is full of sharks.
The road trip has started.
We just left through San Francisco.
The awesome thing is, right now we've got about 242 miles of range left.
So distance is no problem at all.
And when we get to our stop, where we'll be staying for a couple of nights,
we'll be able to recharge our own batteries,
but most of all, we'll be able to charge Phil's batteries.
I remember when we shared a bed.
And we knew we'd never fade.
That's so gross.
Thanks, Elon.
Very cool.
That's the one.
So where I'm taking you guys is a very, very unique property.
We have four acres all to ourselves here in Mendocino County.
That's our view.
That's beautiful.
That's insane.
Oh, my God.
Wow.
So we just parked the car,
and I can hear hundreds and hundreds of seals just over there.
Want to see our sealy friends?
You can hear them so loud.
Those are on that little island over there.
I'm really feeling that wanderlust feeling right now.
Like, this looks like Neverland.
I don't even know.
This looks like heaven.
So this is the best part of the e-vehicle.
At the end of the day, you're not stuck paying $5.70 a gallon.
Instead, you top up just like that, plug it in,
and in the morning, it'll be fully charged.
Welcome home.
This is Anchor Bay,
and it's one of Wander's several properties here on the West Coast.
Oh, my gosh.
It's giving me, like, a cozy cabin vibe, yet very modern and sleek.
Yeah.
Ooh, look at that workspace right there.
No way!
Wow.
As we go to the edge of the property,
it's all cedar path, and it smells so good.
This is a place that just strikes creativity and relaxation.
The crazy thing is,
you're probably thinking this must cost thousands of dollars a night,
and the thing is, you actually get affordable rates.
It's going to be starting around $600 a night
to have this entire property to yourself.
I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful property,
and I'm excited to see what the next few days have in store.
Good morning, guys.
I'm doing some smart cycling in a smart home.
Right now, I'm doing, actually, a live class with this guy.
We got Britney Spears going.
Today, we're going to go explore the Mendocino area.
This whole region is such a refreshing getaway.
There's no cell phone reception,
so as soon as we leave the property,
it's complete and utter quietness.
I got the start key,
and we're back in our Tesla.
Let's go.
The whole West Coast is full of little beaches, nooks, inlets,
areas where you can go on a little hike or adventure.
Just two minutes away from where we're staying is Cook's Beach.
Let's go check it out.
Wow.
Guys, this is the beauty of Northern California.
Sometimes, when you travel, you come across places
where you're like, I need to come back.
Sometimes, you feel an even deeper connection
where you're like, I could live here.
For me, I've really felt that with the West Coast.
It's just this rocky and rough terrain.
There's something so peaceful about it,
and I love the way that there's no cell phone reception here.
It's a beautiful disconnect.
We just got back.
The cool thing about these properties is that, just like the car,
they're all smart homes.
Just like that, one press of a button,
and the door is unlocked.
I like to have the house nice and warm,
maybe a little too much,
so I'm going to turn that on here,
crank up the heat,
and the fireplace has turned itself on.
One of my favorite parts,
tee up a song, hit play,
and all of a sudden,
you've got surround sound, audio,
all across the entire home.
Oh, my God.
This is perfect.
I know, right?
It is.
It's so perfect.
Think Chris is going to want a third wheel in here?
Definitely.
Absolutely.
Me and my chérie.
My chérie, sorry.
Okay, man.
We got an early morning ahead of us.
We're headed up north,
in this,
to Oregon.
Only problem is,
the range on the Tesla Model 3
is 352 miles,
and our distance today is 380.
So, we've got six and a half hours to drive today,
and this car can drive itself.
At least, that's what I've heard online.
I've opened up the autopilot thing here,
and you can see here,
it says auto steer beta.
I mean, what's wrong with a beta
when you're driving, right?
It's fine.
It's taking over.
Oh, my God.
That was...
Oh, my God.
Watch out for the car, please.
Oh, my God.
It's literally matching the speed limit.
Oh, my God.
This is amazing.
Want to watch Harry Potter?
I've got all three.
Keep your eyes on the road.
This is so scary.
I really don't like it.
Hold me, Tim.
I'm scared.
This is literally the road trip of the future.
Oh, it's turning.
Whoa, whoa.
Good on you, Tim.
The future is scary and beautiful all at once.
We're swapping drivers for a little bit
because the autopilot's exhausting me.
It's my turn.
Now.
Oh, my God.
Wow, this is a narrow part of the road, too.
Oh, my God.
Because it just goes so fast.
Wow, it's fully in the wrong lane.
Oh, my God.
What is it doing?
No, it just stopped completely.
It's confused.
It is not ready.
It is not ready, Elon.
Not yet.
I don't know what the ideal conditions are.
Maybe it's highway driving,
but this thing is not ready
for your typical windy coastal roads.
It keeps going into the wrong lane,
and it's even taking the corners a little bit too harshly.
I'm a little surprised.
I thought it would be more road-ready,
but I'm gonna be driving the old-fashioned way
for the rest of this road trip.
That's a 300-foot tree.
We're about to go through it.
Here we go.
The Tesla is freaking out.
Oh, my God.
This is pretty tight.
Hey, we made it.
Good job, babe.
That is a redwood right there.
The mammoths, the kings of the forest.
Look at that.
Never don't stop.
The peg house.
This is what I love about America.
Just absolute garbage but delicious food.
Burgers, chicken fingers,
and freshly made brownies and pies.
That does not sound like garbage food to me.
That sounds like good old American food.
Yep, that's culture right there.
Guys, I'm not joking.
If you're making this road trip,
you definitely want to make this stop.
The Peg Burger is disgustingly delicious.
To find this place, it was just on Google Maps.
It was 4.6 out of 5,
and the reviews did not lie.
Super good.
Debbie made these at 4 a.m.,
and God bless her.
These are fantastic.
Thank you, Debbie.
So right now we're driving through
Avenue of the Giants,
and these are the great redwood trees.
The largest tree in the entire planet.
She thick.
If you look up, guys, you can see
these trees are so big,
and some of them even have roads
passing right through them.
It's unbelievable.
Now we have 64 miles.
You can see that battery
showing an orange little display.
Could be a little stressful
if you're in the wrong place.
That is the supercharger.
Pop that.
Starting to charge.
We just topped up 150 miles
for $15.
It's surprisingly expensive.
For a full tank or a full battery,
you're looking at like $30, $35.
I guess best to charge at home,
but definitely convenient
that you can do it so quick
in a Walmart parking lot.
We are about to cross into Oregon.
It's been a long day,
and we've been two hours through rain,
but rain leads to some
of the most incredible sunsets.
We're set to arrive
five minutes after sunset,
so we're in a bit of a hurry here.
Oh, my gosh.
We are a few minutes short
of our real destination.
Let's go.
Let's get out of the car.
This is insane.
Chasing.
Sunset.
Chasing.
Sunset.
Wow.
Oh, my gosh.
To literally be right on the coast.
I have no idea
what I'm looking at right now,
but I'm so excited.
Whoa.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, this is a vibe.
The best part of this place
is something I can't show you right now.
See you in the morning.
One, two, three, four.
Holy Neptune,
sweet mother of pearl.
Look at this view.
This is right at the front of our door.
We have an unblocked view
of the Oregon coast.
So last night,
I had a phone call with my dad,
and he was telling me
that I've actually been here before
on a family trip.
We took a little pop-up RV
from Vancouver, Canada,
all the way down here.
Look how fine the sand is.
We are right between two sand dunes,
and I'm about to climb
to the top of this one.
This is the ultimate stair master.
Don't give up.
You go down with me if I fall.
Right next to where we're staying
on the coastline here
is actually a stable.
And these will be
our valiant steeds for today.
Up the trail
to explore the coast.
So beautiful.
Wow.
That was the top three
horse riding expedition.
They were very well behaved.
Don't touch me with your cold hands.
Christian doesn't like it
when I touch him
with my cold hands.
You feel like my grandma.
This has just been
such an incredible staycation.
I've been able to be
right by the beach,
experiencing life
in a radically different place,
while having all of the comforts
of my own home.
It's been a 180 difference
from your average Airbnb experience,
where you don't know the host.
Here, I know exactly
what I'm getting.
With all the Wander properties,
it's high-speed internet,
it's an adjustable standing desk
with external monitors,
it's to have a smart home
that's intelligently controlled
from an app,
to have a Tesla
that's waiting for you
to go from place to place.
Wander has multiple properties
around the west coast,
and soon to be
all over the country.
And guys,
the cool part is
the team at Wander,

to give out a giveaway to you.
