ShotSense advanced shot analysis. Matthews. We've seen the little doodad in the riser for the last
couple years. So if you have like a phase four or like if you take your stock grips that comes
with your bows and use side plates like I do, you were always like, what's that for? Well,
I remember going to Matthews HQ earlier in 2023 and I got a sneak peek at the ShotSense app and
I thought it was pretty cool for a couple of reasons, but I don't know. I haven't tried it
yet going to bring you along. For me, ShotSense is like measuring and then you're managing your
ability to shoot a bow. And I think a lot of people don't have access to an archery coach,
or maybe they can't afford, you know, 12, 20 sessions over a year with an archery coach.
This might be your take-home DIY archery coach that's giving you real-time feedback on how much
do you torque the bow? How long is your shot process? And you should be able to tell, did I
punch the trigger or did I have a controlled shot? We're going to find out that right now.
And I'm new to all this. I haven't actually used it on my own bow. So I'll bring you guys along.
So this is the ShotSense. Here we are. Advanced shot analysis. Open it up. Ooh,
that's pretty sexy packaging. I immediately noticed something. This is going to be for
those that like the Matthews stock grip, and that could be a nice like backup one.
I'm not going to use that because I noticed they got side plates. Kind of bummed out because I like
my own branded side plates from Shadow Creek, but this is good. I like a thin to win. So let's set
that there for y'all to just check out. Here's your gadget. That's going to tell you all the
things that you are going to want to know. That's important. Don't lose that. And we'll just put that
there. This little doodad is probably to, they have a spacer in there. I'm sure it's to take
the spacer out. Oh, we got our USB-C to USB. Oh, and instructions. I guess we probably ought to
check those out. Installing side plates. You need the alcohol wipes and your stickies.
And then here's your quick start. I'm all about a quick start. So we'll do that.
One thing I'm excited about putting this or leaving this on my bow is a shot counter. I've
never had a shot counter. I'd love to see how many arrows I shoot a year. I seem to shoot
every day. And some days I shoot 30 arrows and other days I shoot like four or five. And I'm
like, sweet. That's what I needed yesterday. I shot a lot. I was shooting like garbage,
hot garbage, uh, today already shot. And I shot like, I think I shot four arrows and they were,
it was doing good. But what I want to do right now is I want to go outside and I want to shoot
with no shot sense in it. Then I'm going to have to take my beautiful side plates off and replace
it. I want to just go ahead and shoot with the shot sense and show you the data. And we'll kind
of look and explore the app and bring you guys along and see what this thing's all about. One
down. There she is. That's your little spacer. And then I'm going to take this and push it on
the backside and pop it out. Ready? Ooh, nice. I turned it on. Cool. Let's start in the bottom.
Get that in there. This is the newer grips that are coming out from shadow Creek. Um,
these are hard to keep in stock. You guys have been awesome. And I thank you greatly
for doing it. We're going to go half there and then I got to get these off. This will be a chore.
Okay. So the premise, I think again, is for you to have a way to quantify your archery skills.
And this will have a rating system, um, zero to a hundred on every shot. It'll also keep
track of every arrow that leaves your bow. That's the part I'm actually most excited about. And if
you didn't have an archery coach, I feel like this could be potentially a substitute giving you some
sort of feedback mechanism. If you guys use watches that give you feedback or like whoop,
whoop strap, whoop strap is something that's kind of cool that you can wear.
My watch gives me feedback on my sleep, on my recovery. These are just little wearables that
kind of wearable for your bow that can really give you real-time feedback on your shot process.
I think that could be invaluable, but again, I don't know. We haven't tested it yet. We're
just getting the setup and hopefully I'm doing it right. Let's download the app.
Okay. We're downloading. Yeah, it was easy. Just turned it on. Oh, I got to sign up.
Check your email. ShotSense confirmation email. Click and open in ShotSense. Okay.
Congratulations. Begin pairing. Let's turn this thing on. Searching for devices. Yep. That's us.
There's your passcode. 862018. Check. Come on, baby. We're paired. Next. Device name.
You can select training or hunt. I'll do training and I'm right-handed. Save settings. Enter bow
serial number. Saved. Firmware update. Update device. Success. Your device is now up to date.
Place your bow on a steady flat surface. Note your bow can be in any orientation as long as
it is steady. Once your bow is in a stable position, press the calibration button.
Steady flat surface. Next. Device setup complete. Oh my gosh.
Total shots five. Average score one percent. Welcome back. How does it say welcome back?
I've never been here. Maybe there's another hook ship out there. Well, let's go shoot.
Is there any daylight left? Okay. Okay. Take a step back. What did it say? It did nothing.
It still says five shots. Mine says six on here. Disconnected. Oh, connect. Connect. Connecting.
You're saying nothing. Seven shots, 43 percent. Sweet. Oh, you just got bummed to 55. Congratulations.
Guys. So, a couple things on the shot sense. One, when I turned it on, it said I had taken
shots or something, which I hadn't. So, that was, maybe that's a bug, but it looks like I got a 72
and a 72 on that shot at 40 yards. I was aiming for this little black circle. These arrows are
literally touching. We nicked the fletching on this arrow. So, both shots, are they both the
same score? They're both the same score of 72. That's good shooting. So, you guys look at this
screen here. We got 72 yards. You can kind of go through your float. That shot did break pretty
fast. So, yeah. Steadiness was a 13.6, and part of my score is coming from that. My level, that's my
score. That's my torque. Looks like it torques right. And my shot duration was five seconds.
Let's look at this second shot. Same score, 72, and you can zoom in on this. So, we'll go.
Steadiness level says four percent torque left, although both arrows impacted damn near the same
hole. Shot duration was 7.45 seconds. So, yesterday I got an 85 at 82. Both those were done without
leveling the bow. Since then, I put it in the vice, put a string level on it, recalibrated,
which is super easy to do in the app. All right, we're going to manage devices,
and I'm going to calibrate and level this bad boy. So, leveling. Calibrate level will re-zero
the sensor level to the current orientation of your bow. Reset level will return your sensor
to the factory preset. So, we always want to click calibrate, but before we do that,
let's check our level. So, we've got a string level on the bow, and it's level,
and we're going to throw this Hamski Gen 2 on just to inspect that our rail is on. Okay,
that's dead center. That's slightly bubbled left on the rail. Here's first and second axis. So,
let's do it. I'm going to get my levels perfect. All right, friends. So, we're going to just
double check our levels because we just made two shots that we were really proud of,
and it gave us a score of 72. So, I'm like, I want to double check my levels. I didn't like
my first axis rail, so I just adjusted it with the Hamski tool, and we're going to recalibrate.
So, go to manage devices, and we're going to go leveling, and we're going to calibrate level.
Level has been successfully calibrated. We're going to calibrate the bow. We have it in a
vice. It is level. We have a Hamski Gen 2 on. We have a string level, and we're set,
and now we're going to go out and shoot again. Let's back up to 30. What's my score?
Hold on. It hasn't loaded yet. In the bullseye. What'd you get? What'd you get? 82,
and it says 6.3 seconds. Let's just look at it real quick. We got, that's your steadiness,
that's your level, that's your torque, and that's your time. This is the one I'm worried about,
torque, and we were hanging out on the bullseye. All right, let's back up to 30.
That arrow is also at 11. What is the score? Come on, Jeff. Tell me a good score.
17 shots, and it was a 77%. That's some bull. All right, let's back to 40. Here's our 40.
That is also in the 11 on the elk. Shot number 18 is 85. Hey, let's go. You guys follow me down
there. I want to show them the target. Keep that thing whole. Shot number 18,
it was dead nuts in the middle of the level. I did have a 6% torque.
Said 4.1 seconds. That's pretty fast. Basically, ShotSense gave me an 82 at 20 yards.
I got a 77 at 30 and an 85. This was my 40-yard shot. This was my 20-yard shot.
This was my 30-yard shot. Trying to look at how can I improve. A couple of key numbers for me is
shot duration. I don't want to be holding on target forever. I don't want to just slam the
trigger and get rid of the arrow. I think this is a pretty valuable tool. Obviously,
community-wise, Jeff, this is just filming, guys. I went and set up Elk Shape Training Be Limitless.
Guys, find this group. I want to get a leaderboard going. I'd like to see your name on there every
day that you just shot your bow. If you got a 20%, I don't give a . What I care about is that
you are trying to get better and that you're consistently getting arrows sent wherever
you're at. I like that feature. Jeff and I, Jeff behind the camera, come from the functional
fitness world. There's a whoop strap that measures how hard of a strain you got on a workout, how
well you slept. It's a wearable device that tracks your metrics. This is a metric tracking thing for
your bow. There's a lot of communities like on the Buttery Bros where they will get on there and
read their audience and how they're doing. We're going to do that more on the channel. We're going
to get on our ShotSense and see and give you guys shout outs to see who's putting in the work
consistently, who's getting a 99 because I ain't seen that number yet. I love y'all. God bless y'all.
This was the ShotSense video. Join our community if you get it installed and stay on your grind.
Separation's in the preparation. Catch you on the next one.
