How do you define creativity?
What is the message here?
How did they do that?
Why did they do this?
Why is this valuable?
Is that more creative than this?
For something so hard to define,
there's an awful lot of creativity about.
Songs, stories, buildings,
books, pictures, products, ideas, looks.
And that's not even the half of it.
Since the year 2000,
there have been over a million articles and books
published on the subject of creativity.
And the creative industries are now
the UK economy's fastest growing sector.
But what exactly is creativity?
Albert Einstein said it's intelligence having fun.
Donatella Versace thinks it comes from a conflict of ideas.
While Professor Ruth Noller said it was C equals FA,
open bracket, yada, yada, yada.
But perhaps it doesn't help to reduce creativity
to an equation or a quote.
Because it's more experiential than that.
More playful.
More risky.
More daring.
More joyful and disruptive.
And since 1930,
we've been helping people discover this for themselves.
So whether you see it as an art or a science,
a quality or a habit,
a way of thinking or a way of being,
one thing's for sure.
It's better to unleash your creativity
than to define it.
