Following the cancellation of \"Little People, Big World\" after 25 seasons, Amy Roloff has transitioned back to her passion for education. She recently shared on Instagram that she is thriving as a substitute teacher, embracing a life of fulfillment and humility away from the reality TV spotlight.
Hey gorgeous viewers! I just saw the sweetest update from Amy Roloff, and honestly, it's giving
me all the wholesome feels after all the heavy Duggar content we've been covering. Okay, so here's
what's happening. TLC might have cancelled Little People, Big World back in 2024 after an incredible
25-season run, but Amy Roloff isn't sitting around feeling regretful or sad about it.
Instead, she's absolutely thriving and is happy to be back in her day job, and you guys, it's the
most wholesome thing ever. The reality star shared an update on Instagram on Friday, May 15, posting
a photo from inside a school classroom. In the pic, Amy, who worked for years as a preschool
teacher before becoming a TV personality, posed in front of a whiteboard and a map of North America,
looking absolutely radiant and happy. I can't believe the school year is coming to an end
already. I love subbing and grateful I can be in the classroom for the teacher, she captioned the
post, revealing that she has resumed work as a substitute teacher. How amazing is that? After
years of being a reality TV star, dealing with cameras following her around, living her life
in the public eye, Amy has gone back to her roots and is doing work that clearly brings her so much
joy and fulfillment. She added, there are challenges in the classroom sometimes, but I
always have hope for these kids at the end of the day. Until next time, keep learning. The fact that
she acknowledges there are challenges, but maintains hope for these kids, that's what makes
a great teacher, you guys. It's not just about teaching subjects, it's about believing in your
students and seeing their potential, even on the difficult days. Little people, big world fans,
might remember that Amy worked as a full-time preschool teacher in the early seasons of the show
before leaving to focus on her family, her farm, and the demanding filming schedule. So teaching
has always been her passion. It's not something new she's trying out. However, she revealed back
in March 2024 that she'd returned to teaching, just months before it was confirmed that the
reality series was ending after 25 seasons. So she was already planning her transition back to
education before the show even officially ended. That's just such great foresight and planning.
Fans absolutely jumped into the comments of Amy's post to praise her work as a substitute teacher,
and honestly, reading through these comments is giving me all the warm, fuzzy feelings.
One Instagram user wrote,
I mean, how amazing would it be to have Amy Roloff as your substitute teacher?
The kids must be so excited when she walks in.
It sure has been a challenging time, said another teacher, showing that solidarity and
appreciation from fellow educators. This next comment is so special.
That's the ultimate compliment for a teacher.
One fan wrote enthusiastically,
where they don't know the students or the routine. Another person added,
This comment really highlights how important substitute teachers are.
Schools struggle to find reliable subs, and when they can't find one, they have to pull other staff
members from their regular duties, which creates all kinds of problems. Amy is literally helping
keep schools running smoothly. Teacher Amy looks good on you, said another commenter, and honestly,
looking at that photo, you can see how happy and fulfilled Amy looks.
This is clearly where she's meant to be. Let me give you some background on Little People,
Big World, for anyone who might not be familiar. The show premiered on March 4, 2006,
that's almost 20 years ago, and followed the lives of the six-member Roloff family
on their farm near Portland, Oregon. The family included parents Matt and Amy Roloff,
and one of their children, Zach, all of whom have dwarfism. The show was groundbreaking because it
presented dwarfism in such a normal, everyday way, rather than making it seem exotic or strange.
TLC came to us about five or six years ago, and so we suddenly realized we were given a great
opportunity to educate people about dwarfism, Amy said in a 2010 interview with Ability Magazine.
When it was offered that we do a show about our lives, my husband and I were like,
wow, nothing like this has even been on the air. Nothing had depicted dwarfism in an everyday way.
That mission, to educate people and show that people with dwarfism are just living normal
lives, is so important. The show helped break down so many stereotypes and misconceptions.
Now, Amy's personal life has gone through some major changes over the years.
She divorced Matt in April 2016 after a long marriage and four children together.
That was definitely a difficult time that played out on the show.
But then, Amy found love again. She went on to marry Chris Merrick in August 2021,
and you guys, their wedding was absolutely beautiful.
The wedding to Chris took place on the Roloff Farm, the same farm that had been featured on
the show for all those years, and it was featured on the show's 22nd season. So Amy has been through
divorce, found new love, got remarried, and now she's transitioned from reality TV back to teaching.
Her journey is honestly so inspiring and shows that life doesn't end when one chapter closes.
It just means a new chapter is beginning.
What I love most about this update is that Amy isn't bitter or sad about the show ending.
She's not desperately trying to stay in the spotlight or launch new reality TV projects.
She's simply going back to work that she loves, and that makes a difference in children's lives.
That's the sign of someone who has their priorities straight, you guys.
Fame and reality TV were never the end goal for Amy. They were just one part of her journey.
Now she's focusing on what truly matters to her. Education, children, and making a positive
impact. And the fact that she's working as a substitute teacher specifically shows such
humility and flexibility. She's not demanding to be the head teacher or wanting special treatment.
She's happy to fill in wherever she's needed, supporting other teachers,
and helping schools function smoothly. Substitute teaching is hard work, you guys.
You walk into different classrooms with different students and different expectations every day.
You have to be adaptable, patient, quick on your feet, and able to connect with kids quickly.
The fact that parents are saying their kids loved having Amy as their sub shows she has all those qualities.
I also love that Amy acknowledged there are, quote, challenges in the classroom sometimes,
because that's so real. Teaching isn't always easy. Kids can be difficult. Situations can be stressful.
But maintaining that hope and believing in the students, that's what separates good teachers
from great ones. What do you guys think about Amy's return to teaching? Are you inspired by her
post-reality TV journey? Would you want Amy Roloff as your substitute teacher? Drop your thoughts in
the comments because I'd love to hear from you. And honestly, does anyone else think this is such
a refreshing change from the typical reality TV trajectory? Instead of trying to stay famous or
launch new shows, Amy is just living her best life and doing meaningful work. That's honestly
beautiful. If you enjoyed this wholesome content and want more reality TV updates, both the drama
