Miley Cyrus Gives An Emotional Acceptance Speech At Her Walk Of Fame Ceremony In Hollywood, CA

And this is the time we've all been waiting for. I'd like to present our newest Walk of Famer, Mighty Cyrus. Thank you, Ron. Thank you to my friends, Anya Taylor-Joy and Donatella Versace. Your own star power shines. Thank you for being here and sharing this moment with me. And thank you for representing L.A., my home, truly a city of angels. There are so many of them surround us right now with their names laid here in concrete where their legacy will live on long past their lifetime. And it's an honor to join that community and celebrate with all of you here today. Thank you for being here. There's a song titled Walk of Fame. I wrote way before this precious moment, but my co-writer and my dear friend, Brittany Howard, she closes the track with a poem. And it ends with this mantra, You'll live forever. She sings it as if this star somehow represents immortality. And although I love the lyric, the fact that I won't is what creates the urgency that sets my heart on fire, my life and my art and my desire to break down the walls of any boxes that we've been tricked to believe that exist. I used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer. So does a star on the Walk of Fame, by the way. And it's not about the force, but it's about the repetition. What feels so special to me about this star is that it's an accumulation of devotion. The star isn't something that you win like a seasonal game. It's not something that you can chase or collect. It's not something you make the next record for and then tote it around like a trophy. My name is laded gold and pink terrazzo. It's fierce and it's fun and it's fabulous. And I'm in Versace, hand-picked from the Atelier archives. And even more fierce and even more fabulous. And me and Donatella and Henry are all blonde. And it's hot. I'm bringing it back. Yeah, it's sickening. I know. It's really sickening. But, you know, at one o'clock this moment will be over. And it'll go back to being a busy street full of unique people. And people that are here exploring for the first time our city that we all share and that we love so much.
