AI GeneratedThis video demonstrates how to make the \"Absolute Stress\" cocktail, a simple shaken drink designed for relaxation after a long workday. The presenter modifies a traditional equal-parts recipe to better balance the flavors, resulting in an easy-to-drink, party-style cocktail that blends various spirits with fruit juices.
Welcome to booze on the rocks.
And today we're going to make the absolute stress cocktail.
This is a simple shaken cocktail.
That's absolutely perfect for that long day of work when you
need to relieve some stress.
Now, the original recipe that I saw was literally one ounce of all
of the ingredients that you see here.
However, I'm going to vary those ratios to make this a more drinkable cocktail.
It's not a huge variation, but it'll work much better in balancing out the flavors.
So let's talk about our ingredients.
Your first ingredient is some kind of vodka.
Now I'm using a little bit of Smirnoff.
This is one of those cocktails where you really don't need to spend a lot
of money on your ingredients, just because of the ingredients and
the flavors you're going to get.
Your next ingredient is the rum of your choice.
Now I'm using a little bit of Havana three-year-old.
The original recipe I saw called for a dark rum, but you're not
really going to get a better flavor out of it by using a dark rum
versus a lighter rum for this.
Next, we need a little bit of peach snaps.
Now I'm using some Dr.
McGillicuddy's.
And then what we're going to do to modify this drink is we're going to
start with a little bit of orange juice.
And if you notice, I'm not squeezing an orange today because I got lazy.
And the next thing we need here is some cranberry juice.
Now this is tart cranberry juice, not cranberry cocktail.
So it's not as sweet and you're going to gain your sweetness
between these and the peach snaps.
Now, as I said, this is a shaken cocktail.
So grab your shaking glass and we're going to start by filling this
all the way to the top.
Once you've done that, we'll then start with our base and we're going to
start with a nice, simple pour of one ounce or 30 milliliters.
Your second ingredient is going to be your room of choice.
Now I did say I'm using Havana club three-year-old.
I don't want to use an expensive rum because it's just going to be wasted
and your cost per drink, then whether you're just making this for
yourself or a bunch of friends, you kind of want to keep those costs down.
This is after all sort of a party style drink.
Now, again, you're going to use one ounce or 30 milliliters.
Your third ingredient is the peach snaps.
Now, as I said, the original recipe I found used one ounce of everything,
but I'm going to cut the amount of peach snaps down because based on
the ratios that I'm using, if I used one ounce of peach snaps, the peach
would overpower everything and it would throw it out of whack.
So just use half an ounce or 15 mils.
Your fourth ingredient is going to be your orange juice.
Now I'm using Tropicana orange juice.
This is the no sugar added kind.
It's supposed to be a hundred percent oranges and the back says no pulp,
which is good because I don't like pulp in my cocktails.
Now, again, the original recipe said one ounce.
I'm going to make this an ounce and a quarter.
You can make this an ounce and a half, but that's an ounce and
a quarter is 37 and a half mils.
Now, if I stopped right here, I'd be kind of stuck right between the middle
of a screwdriver and a fuzzy navel and a little bit of rum, but apparently
I need to add the cranberry juice too.
So again, use the same amount of an ounce, an ounce and a
quarter or 37 and a half mils.
Now looking at this, it's pretty, and I am kind of tempted just to give it a
stir and say screw shaking it, but we're going to do this properly.
So get the top of your shaker, make sure you've got a good seal, flip it
and shake this good for eight to 10 seconds.
All right.
You're going to pop that off with the strength of a couple of juices
here and put that off to the side.
And we're going to actually serve this in a nice double rocks glass.
And we're going to do this over some fresh ice and you're just going to
use your Hawthorne strainer to keep out the big chunks of ice.
And because this cocktail is all about relieving your stress, I'm not going to
bother to stress it over garnishing it.
Oh yeah.
That is good.
It's slightly overpowered booze wise.
Um, you get the rum and you get the peach snaps, the vodka, not so much.
You get the, uh, cranberry juice, which kind of overpowers the orange
juice a little bit, but it balances it out.
This is probably a six and a half out of 10, but if you like a nice, easy
drink, this is definitely an easy go to.
And if you like cocktails like this, take a look after the
recipe card right over here.
